I am filled with so much love and inspiration right now. In fact, it is hard to put into words how I feel. A mix of belief, joy, happiness…
It was beautiful. So beautiful.
Not only did I get to appreciate and immerse myself once again amongst a beautiful community of Tausugs. But on this day, I witnessed something I deeply appreciate... the Department of Tourism Secretary just visited the Province.
Sec Christina Frasco, magsukul, daghang salamat, maraming salamat po. I may not be a Tausug, I may not be born and raised in Mindanao… but as I type this today, I am a proud Filipino. You coming here, it is a testament. Over the years, I have been so privileged to have experienced the beauty that exists in abundance here across the Southern Philippines. I have had so many moments where people share with me things they love about who they are, and where they are the from. The beautiful things that uplift them, and also uplift the lives of others. I have seen it, and I have experienced it…
But honestly, I have also become accustomed to those beautiful things being overshadowed. Still to this day, when I mention places like Mindanao or Sulu… it isn’t uncommon to be met with expressions of fear, negativity, and uncertainty.
But today, seeing you here, a DOT Secretary… 💪😊🇵🇭❤️
Times are changing. Peace, progress, and the love people are sharing is shining through!

Great work! I was in Sulu last in 2015 on a Philippine discovery/holiday/honeymoon trip with my wife who is from Tagum City, to visit family. While it was still considered unsafe , we had escort with family and found everyone friendly and welcoming. I'm looking forward to returning and NOT seeing roadblocks and military at every turn. Peace wins!

The tausog teen girls are full of life and appreciate the presence of kulas. The people of sulu understood the importance of global tolerance even the Saudis are now more adept of the importance of technology and innovation to further the cause of humanity. Muslims are more tolerance and peace seeking in these new generation. The past is just a glimpse of the memory. Human advancement is important for the sake of human survival.

I am from Mindanao but have not visited the province of Sulu. I have seen several vlogs about this place and it is very beautiful especially the people, they are beautiful inside and out. Their culture is awesome! ..food, music, dress, language and tradition, etc. So proud of these places...Sulu and Tawi-Tawi. I wish many tourists will visit these two places. I see it is safe place to see and experience.
This made me emotional 🥹🥹🥹 so happy for Sulu! Finally they will be seeing as a beautiful place to visit… their culture alone has many to offer to the tourists. Sulu is not a dangerous place if you are respectful and kind and so pure love. Good luck to Sulu!!!

I think it’s great. The DOT visited Sulu for tourism. A beautiful and very historic area that should be discovered. Will be great for the country and local economy. The unfortunate part, especially from the US is the ignorance of understanding Muslim religion. It’s still the Philippines, full of loving and proud, caring people which translates individually, although some stigma still exists on the Muslim culture abroad. The Philippines shows how Christianity & Muslim Religion can coexist without conflict of beliefs. 🙏🏻🇵🇭

For so many years Mindanao has been isolated from the Philippines in terms of tourism as stained of terrorism in the area which brings fear to the tourists to visit Mindanao. Thanks Kyle Jennerman a.k.a Kulas for letting me world knows how safe and beautiful is Mindanao nowadays. You deserved the grant for Filipino citizen with your dedication and love for the Philippines your channel is a platform of posivity and showing the beauty of the whole Philippines. I've been there last year but only for an overnight stay, and want to go back again.
I commend you Kyle for showing a side of Sulu that many of us foreigners never see. Their culture is beautiful and they have made great strides to encourage tourism in that area. However, I will never be able to disassociate Sulu with the many kidnappings....especially the kidnapping of your fellow Canadians that resulted in their beheading in Sulu in April of 2016. Although the government has declared that area free of terrorists, there are still many of the leaders that yet to be captured. I wish the people of that area all the best in promoting their beautiful island but I'll stick to visiting the rest of the Philippines on my visits.
I'm a Tausug born in Zamboanga City, and now living in Cebu City. I was about 7 years old when my mom last brought me to Jolo and now I'm 35, and everything is just a blur. Inshaallah I'll be coming back to the roots of my parents this month of March.
