- TONDO MANILA IS NOT A GIANT SLUM... it is a big local area full of more than two hundred barangays and a lot of community vibes.
Yes, this area of Manila has a tough reputation and certainly is somewhere that can be intense. But what I found out on this day after arriving at the port... is a wonderful community vibe. The barangays can be very cool to explore, and full of amazing people. Sometimes Tondo is mistaken by people for only crime and slums... but certainly that isn't how is should be represented. Don't get me wrong, there are slums around, I have been in some over the years. But this day walking around, and actually staying in Tondo certainly reminded me it is so much more than that.
An area in Manila known for its high crime in the past...
has a unique vibe to it now.

Tondo is not a Slum as some vloggers are saying..... It is a Residential area for the Real People of Manila..... It has isolated housing for the poor and junk collectors... It is a place Where you can Experience the real life and Culture of the Filipinos... a Vibrant place for happy people...meron ding minsan Buraot..at nag sisigasigaan... Pinapatay ang mga Siga sa Tondo....pero mayroon p rin nagsusulputang mga bagong siga sa ibang lugar...😂😂😂

Well done for portraying Tondo in a different light. It gets a lot of bad press particularly from vloggers who like to show how brave they are entering Tondo. The reality is quite different.

That is really a big misconception about Tondo. TV and movies can be blamed esp. those FPJ and Erap films shot in Tondo. They showed only the poorer side. Tondo has high rise condo towers, schools, banks, bungalow houses, apartments, townhouses, malls. Based on census, the slum or squatters in Tondo is only 5% of the total population of Manila and they are mostly in BASECO area.
Tondo is generally safe also. Two LRT stations serve Tondo.
That's what Filipinos love about you, Kulas. You are a down to Earth person. You are not afraid to interact with local people, and you try to learn our language. An English tourist is so bad that He thinks he is high and mighty than the local Pinoys. He is only visiting the Philippines but treats the Pinoy people like stupid people. Silent waters run deep. That's what Pinoy's are. Not boastful but always respectful and very welcoming to tourists. Hope some of this airhead tourists will learn from you, Kulas. Take care and enjoy the hospitality of the Filipino people and enjoy the beautiful islands of the Philippines. ❤❤❤

this is cool vlog segment i love it! you visit the place where i grew up during my teen age years , I lived in balut tondo but me and my family left Tondo in the 80s we are living in Vancouver BC now .Thank you for visiting my beloved Tondo. I went to school in Gagalangin St. Immaculate conception Academy . ITs more fun in the Philippines🥰❤I had a lot of grear memories growing up in Tondo .

Ive been to Oregon where there's an epidemic of drug addiction. Tondo is way safer. That said, we shouldnt romanticize poverty. Theres a fine line

I used to lived in Tondo, Tayuman it's not slum but there are a lot of thieves there😂, my husband who is foreigner get to used it. But there are nice people there also. My father's family owned old apartment. I love the Chinese community. Because of food.

tondo is far from perfect but one could argue that tondo is much better than some places in london where it is always cold and dump.

Never felt unsafe in Tondo. Other vloggers have portrayed it as a dangerous slum. If anything, we've found the people to be some of the friendliest in the Philippines. Whether it's Tondo or Surrey, BC, or anywhere, any country, same precautions apply. Portraying Tondo and other areas in a positive light will allow others to enjoy what you've experienced.

People before when they go to Manila they take the boat first and then when going back to Cagayan De Oro they take the plane if you have an appointment or class tomorrow or have taking care things on the house and they got the savings on the money on the bank 🛳➡️🛫🛬➡️💴💸💰🪙
Planes were expensive going to Manila from Cagayan De Oro back then it is like taking a Taxi when they are in a hurry for having a schedule 🛫🛬➡️🚕
And you took a tricycle going to the condo in Tondo 🛺
Tondo is sort of like Macabalan in Manila that there are houses near the port 🛳🚢➡️🏠🏠🏠
And they say it is a slum area which is a squatter area for people who can’t afford to buy a house or rent a house they stay there 🏠🏘
And the slum area in Cagayan De Oro is near the port in Macabalan and near the bus terminal in Agora in Lapasan 🏠🏘➡️🛳🚢🚌🚌
And they said that the pedicabs are already rare in Tondo like his opinion is patay na or gone which are rarely rode already.
And they had a sugarcane juice in Tondo that they grind it and took the juice out 🎋🎋🎋💦💦💦➡️🧃🥤
