Its not a wing, its a side dam! I use to race RC cars that look just like this! Move the dam forward and the car will turn better or move it back and it doesnt get as lose in the rear! We raced on dirt and without the side dam, the cars were half as fast and one with it! Doesnt really do anything down the straights but you could keep your corner speed!
Thank you for the information. I'm sure there are different terms for what they may be called in different series. This was the first time I'd seen one in person.
They run these on dirt late models quite often in Michigan. Billboards, air dam, and side wing are some names I have heard them called. Excellent for keeping your speed in the corners, not much of a help on straight aways. I am surprised so many folks have never seen these! I know they are less common now, but through the late 80's and early 00's I saw them quite often!
They used to have a series for Mods in the mid 2000's as well that traveled the state. Granted mostly the west side of the state though. For the mods they would put late model tires on and some would put sprint car wings on instead of the fiberglass side wings.

@@highoctanecards it works as a side dam I race oval amd we call them billboard's when going through the corners it gives the race car more mechanical grip by putting more side bite on the right side tires to keep the cars speed up as high as possible in the corners and the side effect of more corner speed means more speed down straightaway that's why it is heavily braised lile it is. If it was just for weight they would just add led blocks by bolting them the frame of the car it's for more side bite to dig in the right side tires even more and helps keep bite on the left tires as well cuse I prevents the little bit of roll the car would have with out it and keeps left side tires in the track as well

It's a bit shorter. It's 1/5 of a mile.
