Wow, I never saw Maurice singing falsetto alone before. That was so cool. Man, when Robin breaks out and sings his really melodic solo part before the chorus, I get chills. They were so good.
While Barry usually takes the lead of songs, it is Robin who was gifted with an utterly beautiful and range. The brothers in harmony are other worldly. While the Beatles are held up as the gold standard, The Bee Gees have touched a much broader audience.
@@Lori-lp6uc they were a great, legendary band doing their own original songs, why would they settle for being a Beatles tribute band? seriously? They did look up to the Beatles when they came to Australia, because they were doing what they wanted to do. That's what encouraged them to return to the UK in 67. They do Beatles songs better than the Beatles in a lot of cases. Robin's version of Oh Darling is better than the original IMO.
@Zlata1313 Exactly. I said they could have been a Beatles cover band. I didn't say they should have been a Beatles cover band. They sang those songs to PERFECTION. Like you said; Robin's rendition of "Oh Darlin" is one of the most beautiful of a Bee Gees recordings.

Tremendous talent and withstood the toughest test of all- the test of TIME!
Exactly!! For some reason, I always assumed that Maurice sang the low harmony parts. But hey, he's a Gibb, so those falsettos come so easily for every single one of them.

The thing that comes to me after listening to this is they did not have pitch problems; ya cant sing 3 part harmony when you are off-pitch, even slightly. So that is why this is awe-inspiring to me.
Doesn't matter what genre you listen to , this song is a masterpiece. The groove, rhythm section thumping, wah-wah, insane harmonies & falsettos, the mid-song slow down, then ramp it back up. A true live, sweating under the lights performance on top. Just brilliant. Can't stop the toe-tappin.............

I notice a bit of appreciation for the drummer in these comments buried among the (well-deserved) love for the Gibbs. R.I.P. Dennis Bryon, who left us this month, only a few days away from Colin Petersen, an earlier Bee Gees drummer. Both were amazing, and Dennis wrote an enjoyable memoir - You Should Be Dancing- with fun descriptions of hanging out at Barry’s house.
One of the few bands that wrote checks in the studio they cashed in concert. I put the Gibb brothers up there with the best British songwriters of the 70s.
I was fortunate enough to see the Bee Gees when they were at their peak for the Spirits Having Flown tour back in 1979. They were phenomenal, with a stunning laser and light show, they had every fan dancing in the aisles. To this day (34 years later), I have never ever seen a better act live, with the Eagles and Santana right behind.

I think you had to have lived in the 1970s to truly appreciate how EPIC this song is. What a monster hit, and it's never lost a thing in translation over the years.
And sometimes you don't appreciate just how good a band is. A live performance is all it takes. I am now an obsessed Bee Gees fan. It does not get any better than this folks. 10 stars.
I've watched this at least 25 times in the past few days.. Oh my gosh I forgot how wholesome America used to be
So wholesome and fum to grow up with The Bee Gees! My husband and I danced in Disco Bars to their songs when we were first dating in the dark ages. Great times!💜💜❤💯🙏🌹✡
I played the grooves off those records. My favorite is still the Sgt. Pepper soundtrack. They could have been a Beatles tribute band.
@@Lori-lp6ucThere is one of the times that they host the Midnight Special and they do a Beatles medley. It's beyond crazy how amazing they do with it too. Maurice sounds like John Lennon even in some of his own works.
most underrated band of all time!! they were a kid act (50s) then turned into a pop act (60s) then created their own genre (70s) then became multiple hit songwriters for others (80s/90s/2000s). society could NOT keep them down!! Tremendous talent and withstood the toughest test of all- the test of TIME!
Underrated? Are you kidding?
How are they underrated? How about all their fans, globally? Please explain your comment.
Couldn't agree more!
Lest us not forget their parents who really trained n directed their success!
Truly missed and never forgotten
There where times when even the Beatles took a back seat to the Bee Gee,this was one of them.
The Beatles were so over played back then! I always loved The Beatles, but The Bee Gees were the bomb!
Listen to Maurice hit those top notes! Magical❤️❤️
Exactly!! For some reason, I always assumed that Maurice sang the low harmony parts. But hey, he's a Gibb, so those falsettos come so easily for every single one of them.
❤❤❤
HOW I MISS THIS ERA. THE CLOTHES, DANCING, MUSIC AND GROUPS (ESPECIALLY THE BEE GEES) BACK THEN WE'RE ABSOLUTELY EPIC. TODAY'S STUFF DOESN'T EVEN COME CLOSE. WHO AGREES?
Me
I agree wholeheartedly !!! BEE GEES FOREVER ❣️❤️❣️
Agree, still can tear up when I hear The Bee Gees.
THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE GREATEST VERSION OF THIS SONG THEY HAVE EVER DONE... LOVE, LOVE , LOVE IT...
Agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Roberto Villegas the live version is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than the studio version. I really enjoy watching them all sing together as well in the video, makes it so special... what talent !
100 million % agree.
You are so right. This is my favorite Bee Gee song and version of it. Wish I could have seen the Trio together
Saw Barry alone in Boston and he alone brought the house down.
Should have heard it LIVE, OMG. Still get chillbumps remembering that nite.
No auto tune, no lip sinking or filter.. pure talent
Neither could Robin; even as the cameras panned off him. Amazing!
I love everything of Maurice his pants, falsetto, his face, vet.
❤
One of my favorites because you hear all three voices clearly. Extreme talent. How can those people just sit there?
Maurice. My favorite
I bet no one in the audience thought they would be a part of history
Nobody but Nobody writes loves songs like the Bee-Gees for they're truly the most romantic group EVER❤❤❤
I was working in a food pantry for the homeless when a Bee Gees song came on. The whole decade of the '70s came back to me in a flash. What a good time it was!
I was in Nursing School, to become an R.N. and dating my husband before we got married! We loved dancing in Disco Bars to their songs way back when! So many memories.
Which song was it?
@@JanWhorton "Stayin' Alive." I am a singer/songwriter myself who has been influenced by many bands from the '60s and '70s. Check out my music on my UA-cam channel. Thanks and take care.
Maurice killed it he sound good
this video is almost 50 years ago and yet still watching Robin Gibb sing makes me cry and smile at the same time...the most beautifully haunting voice i have ever heard❣❣❣
I feel the same... I really love his voice his presence...... since I was a teenager... what a beautiful video...
Yo canto igual a Barry Gibb
just remember that this is all Live...almost unheard of nowadays...they are pure genius
Robin had the sweetest voice, Barry the strongest, amd Maurice the perfect complement.
Maurice got more handsome every year he lived! What a sense of humor too!
You can’t find harmony like that! CLASSIC
They were so different and so perfect together. I never get tired of this video, despite the attendant melancholy. I owe you, my friends.
No one could harmonize like Barry Robin and Maurice
It's great to hear Maurice's voice!
Maurice singing falsetto while playing the bass lines!
It is great to see 3 brothrrs that love each other and it shows.
This was our music videos growing up. Thank goodness for Midnight Special. They are not lip syncing. This is live performance.
This performance of this top tier song never gets old.
Do you like Barry's falsetto or his chest voice more?
@@Melke.2025 Falsetto and masculine appeal!
@@JanWhortonBarry's masculine charm is there, even if he's quietly lurking somewhere. It never disappears 😂
The sexiest and most handsome man in the world.
i grew up in the 70's and the Bee Gees were the bomb.
They continued to be. No other band can hold a candle to all the songs they've written for others, their brother Andy and themselves. Their talent was limitless and those harmonies were masterpieces. Rest peacefully Andy, Maurice and Robin ❤
To me they will always be the bomb
Same here!
Robin is nicely dressed and handsome with a unique beautiful voice! Barry loved his brothers 💛
And Barry was always easy on the eyes .. He was a hottie back in his day
Robin looks so good here just fantastic and I love this song

I,am 80 years, stil love the Beegees, they can make me sing and dance love them❤❤❤
Keep on dancing!
100% nailed harmonies...no bands do this anymore.
Never get tired of this. August 2024.
The best harmonizing group of all time!! Of course they are brothers! Which solidifys the title.
they have nothing on the Eagles .
Crosby Stills and Nash - Everly Brothers come to mind
I totally agree
@@PatriotSteve they were not brothers
@@markvanderstelt8999 they were not brothers.....
Yeah, Mou is so cute ❤❤❤
Consider this: 1975 performance, of song released the same year. By 1978, these folks would LITERALLY own the charts, with Barry's falsetto as the signature.
Here, Mo' is nailing the upper register, after the bridge.
Live performance, multiple modulations & tempo changes. These guys were Pros; no Pro Tools or Auto Tune..
For the sake of performing arts, my hope is that 100 years from now, these consummate professionals are still remembered.
I miss him every day.
Oh GOD...Mo voice in this song is the main ingredient..making it very perfect....I MISS U MO...
He had a great sense of humor too!
Love this soooo much! Just look how sexy Robin looks in that beautiful tan outfit! He was sooo gorgeous! Love Barry usin his chest voice, and our wonderful Maurice singing falsettos, and lending all his musical talents!!❤❤❤
Did anyone else think that Robin looked like a clone of their youngest brother Andy Gibb in that video?
I notice a bit of appreciation for the drummer in these comments buried among the (well-deserved) love for the Gibbs. R.I.P. Dennis Bryon, who left us this month, only a few days away from Colin Petersen, an earlier Bee Gees drummer. Both were amazing, and Dennis wrote an enjoyable memoir - You Should Be Dancing- with fun descriptions of hanging out at Barry’s house.
This and Fanny Be Tender r my fav Bee Gee songs
Mine too, and also “how can you mend a broken heart”
One of the few bands that wrote checks in the studio they cashed in concert. I put the Gibb brothers up there with the best British songwriters of the 70s.
Well said.
I was fortunate enough to see the Bee Gees when they were at their peak for the Spirits Having Flown tour back in 1979. They were phenomenal, with a stunning laser and light show, they had every fan dancing in the aisles. To this day (34 years later), I have never ever seen a better act live, with the Eagles and Santana right behind.
i’m 67 and i so wished to have met them but never got a chance to do that
To this day, is a peculiar expression when yr comment is 8 years old. But u r no less right.
They were at the peak of their performances, they gave it their all.
Robin's voice has always been my favorite, it's just so perfect with an almost built-in vibrato! Great falsetto from Maurice!
He had an incredible body with a little extra weight on him. I also love his leg "dancing"
Each time, I realize how talented Maurice was..............
Real instruments, real music.real emotion Awww the old days
Absoluty amazimg
Maurice with the falsetto!
Love Mo! 🎉
"...somehow I feel inside, you never, ever left my side...make it like it was before...even if it takes a lifetime... takes a lifetime" is one of the most heartbreaking and beautifully-sung lines of any song.
I agree. This part of the song is my favorite...I will wait for you, even if it takes forever......
Those are gorgeous words. I did always love "make it like it was before, and even if it takes a lifetime' too.
I adore the BeeGees!!!
Love to hear Maurice❤️
GOAT. If you don't get goosebumps when Mo hits his (Blame it on the nights on Broadway) Falsetto...Great Music isn't for you. #warmode #ripMaurice #ripRobin
Robin is a great, unique vocalist. I love Barry and Maurice too. My fave group ever.
I love the Bee Gees so much, and this song. I'm almost 16, and I people think I'm weird for listening to "old music" such as this. I like new songs too, but old songs like this will always be the best. The way things are going right now, in another hundred years or so, all songs will be completely computer generated, including voices.
You rock ! And your music appreciation is beyond your years!!
@@kingsman8475 oh my goodness thank you so much! What a throwback to see you reply to this comment. I am now 28 years old, and still love The Bee Gees as much as ever, forever one of my favorite bands. I hope you have a wonderful day, kind stranger! ❤️
Continue to be weird! My nineteen year old son does the new computer generated stuff but admits that the old stuff was better in every way. I guess every generation needs hear their own thing and create their new sounds. They need their own identity. But musicians know what true music is, even the young ones. They know and yet....
So true. Actors are realizing it , but musicians are a little slow to the dance . AI will make them obsolete.
@@tonyhoward7004 I sure hope not! AI is the worst 😭
Robin’s vocal range is awesome. ❤
Nights On Broadway is my favorite Bee Gees song. Outstanding
Fantastic choice!
It’s great hearing a song that sounds as good as the studio album version that’s played live. The Bee Gees were a great band and made some fantastic tracks❤️
Несколько?? Десятки.
Well over 1000 songs. Not just for themselves either. They wrote some absolute gems for other fabulous artists. Single hits as well as whole albums for artists like Celine Dion, Barbara Streisand, Kenny Rogers, Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross... Just to name a few

...Their outstanding talent in songwriting, singing and performing is what makes them the best of the best, on so many levels!!!
If I lived to be a million years old, I will never understand why so many great and talented artists have left us far too soon while scum continues to walk the earth. I wouldn’t shed a single tear if every politician and billionaire dropped stone dead. They contribute nothing good that lasts in comparison to this one song.
I've had the same thoughts a thousand times, my friend.
No weird costumes, antics or makeup!!! Just pure talent! Only way i love it!!!
