  • We've got another Quiltmas in July project! The Double Oven Mitt makes a great gift, or a useful custom decor item around your home.
I have a bunch of these and I just love them for baking. One is always hanging over my oven handle so it looks cute in my kitchen and I never have to go searching for a second pot holder.
In the tutorial and the FREE pattern to go with it, I show you how to use a combination of batting and Insul-Bright to make your Double Oven Mitt heat-reflective so your hand won't burn.
Then we cover how to use the template to create the curved ends, create continuous bias binding the fits perfectly around the edges and stitch it in place for an adorable finished look.
Make one for you, or get started early on holiday gifts. We've got Christmas-and baking-themed kits while supplies last.

You’re so clear and such a good teacher! AND as a small business owner, employing women (mostly?) in your community, you should NOT have to apologize for advertising what you offer for sale in your store! For goodness sakes, you’re providing free patterns and step by step instructions!! Shame on the grumpy commenters!

Another way that has worked for me with the binding is to stitch it on the way you do. Then flip it over and stitch in the ditch using the machine to finish the binding. This way it captures both sides and looks nicer than if you try to sew the binding in one go.

I was so impressed with this video. You did a great job at explaining every step in the bias binding. This is the best video I have seen on bias binding. I enjoy your videos and like to listen to you talk. Thanks, Jeanette

I make binding strips in the same fashion as you. I find by marking the 1/4” at each intersection of the 21/2” markings makes it easier for me to line it up for pinning and sewing.

Thank you very much for the very clear and precise instructions. I haven’t made binding like you did. I’ve seen it explained but had no idea how to do it. Seemed crazy. Thank you for the demo!!!!

OMG who is giving you grief about sharing kits to buy and samples etc? OF COURSE you have to that to survive and grow as a business. I'm in marketing - I think you do a great job of delivering very very valuable free content and although I haven't yet bought a kit, at least I know I can. Keep on at it!

Does it matter if you use 100% cotton batting or can you use 80/20 batting? These will be great gifts for my daughter & daughter-in-law.

Another question - is the insulbright on both the hand mitt ends & the center piece? Logically I think it is would be but the instructions are a little confusing. Thanks for the video !
