    Very interesting.
    I've come to the conclusion that winches should be rated 3 times the capacity for the job you need to do.
    Cheers

    You need a open Sideboard or a longer Crane Arm .I got a Loger Arc on my Pickup ,that works good !

    Not surprised the crane did the job but I’m amazed the trailer didn’t just flip over on top of you. Great work

    You should be backing up to the end of the log then hooking your log tongs up to the front of the log near the bottom 1/4 , lift up till the log sits on the edge then move your tongs farther down the log and slide it in . If your afraid to lift the front of the trailer put drop down pipes with plates on the bottom at the back two corners ! Just a suggestion !

    You done a good job with what you had . Like Mr Tyler Sheppard said , take the side off or make the side out of 4 pipes that will fold down like ramps and put your winch on the opposite side and use the winch to roll the logs on the trailer . Just an idea I seen on another video .

    I got a old sears suburban lawn tractor, with trailer, several years back for free. The tires were flat and it had some surface rust but overall great shape. The lady obviously didn’t know what she had and just wanted it gone. I did a bit of carb work and it always starts and runs great. They are great little work horses.

    Build an outrigger for the trailer... When I built trailers for 16' fiberglass portable transmit/receive satellite dishes, so with wind loading on site, they wouldn't blow over or move, I used 4 telescoping square tubes with a trailer jack on each end with pins to hold them in the in or out position. I could also lift the trailer off it's wheels and level the trailer to make it easier to track the satellites. The outriggers were the width of the trailer...
    In your case, you just would need one near the crane. And calculate the size tubing so it doesn't "fold" up when extended with a load on it. Once you bend a telescoping tube, they are hard to get back in... Don't ask me how I know...

      I really like that idea. Might have to do that sometime. I weighed one of the wheels and it actually has about 300 pounds of weight on one side. I thought that was pretty heavy.

    • @kiddiescripterkiller
      @kiddiescripterkiller 4 роки тому

      @@Lanninglongarmmowing it might be 300 lbs, but by the time you get the weight on the opposite side, the wheel on the crane side acts as a fulcrum point so the wheel on the other side might only be 150 at that point... Follow?

    • @Lanninglongarmmowing
      @Lanninglongarmmowing  4 роки тому

      Yeah that's true too. Outriggers would be really cool.

    I bought the same crane for my dump trailer I want to make some changes he sells a 3 ton ram and make the boom a little longer and raise the crane up so get more height one tip your out riggers should be out a little father so the trailer is not so tippy when you pick up some thing heavy

    Nice little set up eh! you have the start somewhere in the past I have done stuff like this then used it to help generate cash to allow me to buy better equipment (backhoes, dozers, dump trucks, woodlots, apartment buildings etc) all payed for from my hobbies one step at a time... it has worked out great thanks for sharing check out my channel if you would

    Toyota hasn't "killed" anything, much less Ford. Scotty's click bait titles 🙄
    However, when... IF... Toyota comes out with their 745 mile per charge solid state battery that charges in ten minutes in 2027, that should pair really well with a small wheelbase pickup truck.
    CAFE regulations have forced auto companies to build larger and larger trucks to keep from violating those standards and being fined.
    That's why there are no more new company pickups made anymore with dimensions the size of a 2000 Toyota pickup, much less a 1986 Toyota pickup or Ford Ranger.
    Or a Ford Courier. Or Chevy Luv. THAT would be cool.
    No CAFE regulations for electric vehicles.

  • @wallywally3738

    Why the fuck would you possibly need to transport that entire log if you really don't have the right equipment to do it. Why not just get a chainsaw and axe to cut into more manageable pieces.

    Love2boat92 you mentioned a fork elevator ,why you don't make an attachment for the lawn tractor?
    It should be easy but you have to rinforce the chassis little bit not to much difficult

    Winches are not rated for vertical lifting. Hoists are for lifting. Winches are for pulling rolling vehicles up a slope. I think the rating is for 100% slope which is 45% angle. Vertical would be 90% angle. So, reduce the pull by 13 to 25% for each layer of wire rope and cut the lift by at least half for trying to use a winch as a hoist.
    I would appreciate someone correcting me if this is wrong. Anyway, good video and I love getting it done without spending a fortune on equipment. I like the old tractor too.
