The bed is connected only to the hinge on the frame. The airstream could cause the bed to raise up. Especially if you want to transport something light with great wind resistance. Therefore, I would recommend an additional lock that fixes the bed to the frame, so that this can be ruled out while riding.
hahaha you're tripping on acid. the bed frame is greater than 60 pounds plus you have the weight of the tip lift on the nose being another 40 hanging from the bed. he's going to have to go faster than 70mph to cause enough air foil to lift that empty. add 50 more ontop as a load he's good for 90mph
Very nice. I especially liked the way you mounted the winch so that it first pulls the edge of the bed up until it passes a certain point, (where pulling the arm becomes effective).
Excellent build. I love designing and building things and I’ve got to say this was a great build not a lot of people have the ability to design and build on the move.
Double up the cable to double the pulling power of the winch. Take it to the scissors then through a pulley and then back to an anchor point at the winch. Slower but stronger.
Congratulations on the project. It turned out very good. Allow me a suggestion: to provide more stability when lifting, it would be interesting to install two more pantographic structures parallel to the central structure. In this case, closer to the side bars of the frame/chassis. This way, when lifting, it won't wobble as much, even reducing the risk of breakage due to overweight.
in order to increase the power of the winch you would have had to lead the hook back to the winch because then you have a pulley system where you only have to apply half the force the way you have guided the rope now the winch has to when it pulls the lever carry full load but your work is otherwise clean and tidy👍👍👍

@@jaquigreenlees 1 full wrap of cable is generally required on a winch because the friction of the cable on the drum reduces stress on the cable anchor point. Creative design! However, as the bed begins to raise, the raising mechanism has nearly "zero" mechanical advantage (because the mechanism is acting nearly in a horizontal direction, & only a small force component is acting in the vertical direction, to raise the bed), but as the bed raises higher, the mechanism has a greater component of force in the vertical direction, which would allow for less total force required (from the winch) to raise the bed. A moment arm with right angle to the bed lift arm, & located at the pivot point of where the winch cable attaches should provide better mechanical advantage. The winch cable would attach to the end of the moment arm, rather than the raising mechanism's pivot.
I think it would have been more effective to sell the trailer and use the money along with the steel and winch budget to buy a purpose built trailer that tips, that way you know that the axle, and braking system along with the coupling (bearing in mind the origonal platform trailer is built from aluminium and would only be suited to carry camping equipment) is safely rate to carry the payload, the contraption built here whilst of a Reasonable design quality is not of sufficient substance to be fit for purpose. typical german over engineering. the dump frame is now designed for medium duty despite resting on a an extreme light duty tin trailer frame that will bend before he even gets the box half loaded to capacity. also winch frame is almost heavy duty. he's not throwing a skid steer inside. even funnier is the particleboard glue floor. just saw dust and glue with the glue being the strongest part and the sawdust just a drying agent filler.great construction and fantastic welding tho, very beautiful weld bead worthy of mega machine construction.
In Germany it would loose its road legal permit anyway. Drilling holes into the galvanised drawbar is usually a no-go. Those cheap 750kg trailers are designed on the limit with no safety buffer, so weakening the structural parts is killing it.
Enjoyed your build!!! @ 17:49 you noted that a stronger winch might be a idea for heavy loads! Ok I would suggest putting some of the cable you cut off back and just add a scratch block! Slower lifting but easier on life for winch, battery and trailer!
Great observation, but I'd imagine there is a consideration given to "overloaders" in terms of their stated g/w rating and actual g/w rating. Just pretend he threw all the additions onto the trailer for disposal with the other cementy stuff and you'll be fine.
Ingenious ! ! ! If you get a longer cable you can loop it back and forth onece (or twice) more underneath to gain mechanical advantage and it will lift much stronger.

This is a really well done video. I have no intention to build a tilt trailer, I was interested in the tilt mechanism itself. I'll be installing solar panels and I need to create a tilt system that provides about 55 degrees of angle delta. They will be mounted short side down and are about 65.5 inches long by 35.5 inches wide. I can operate it manually and I would like a system that would tilt 10-12 panels mounted on top of a cargo container. I live near Seattle WA (NW USA - 47.18437N x 122.48287W) and the difference in solar hours is radically different between summer and winter so I can manually crank the panels to suit the sun angle in daily or quarterly increments. Frequency of adjustment will depend upon how easy it is to operate. The craftsmanship is remarkable by itself, but coupled with the apparent expert editing it was a breeze to watch. The sound track is nice. It sounds like a shop. And the shop is nice too. The metal cut-off saw and big grinding disc are great features. I got some great ideas. Thanks for great entertainment worth seeing.
I like this, the range of use is flexible. Good song box. Don't overload the frame. But looks tight and fairly stout. I need one myself actually. I'm getting to old to keep shoveling and raking stuff outta my trailer.
Nice! Is the second pulley doing anything? It seems like it has no effect since the hook is attached near bottom hinge. To increase lifting force, the hook should be attached near the winch instead.
Where I am the trailer could only legally weigh 500 kgs, (no braking system and single axle) so with all the extra weight that he is adding on I wonder how much could "legally" be loaded.
Where you have your hook now does not double your power. bring your hook back to the winch for double power. Hope that helps. Other than that ,,, great build!
After reviewing your design more closely, it appears that the raising mechanism is not quite horizontal when the bed is in the lowered position, so the mechanism would have better mechanical advantage (when the bed begins to raise) than I thought, at first. Handy dump bed trailer!
( the cable initially pulls directly on the lifting bed edge - when the mechanical advantage of the "scissor - link" is poor... this provides a reasonable MA - using a short winching post..
The pivot point of the bed should have been moved forward a few feet. Will need a much more powerful winch to dump a gravel load, and then a bit of luck to keep it from buckling the hitch.
Highly enjoyable I’ve always wanted to do something like that on a pick up box trailer that I have I can see where some of my ideas were quite faulty and I would have to redesign that lift assembly 17 times to get the right leverage for the cable to start pulling it up
Hej.
That's pretty cool. I only need 5' x 8' bed that lifts high enough to easily drive a 1,000lb garden tractor with mow deck on easily. Just flop rear gate down, lift bed,and drive on/off. No long curved ramps needed or any extra messing around. I would think 2' lift and a 4' tall gate would be close to working well.
You can Double the Power of your Winch by Installing a EYE at the middle Roller cable, Then Add a Pulley Block with a Eye on it to the cable under the Trailer and Attach the Winch cable around the pully block and to the Winch Frame, you have Now Compounded the pull by 2 with the pulley block, no need to buy a larger Winch 😊 Nice Job.
Terminate the winch line coming from under the trailer so you can make a quick disconnect for the winch depending on if you want to connect it to the line under the trailer or connect it to something to pull onto the trailer

A lot of work, but the end result was well worth it, well done, and a good idea.
If you had done a double line pull it would double the pulling power & the winch would work a lot easier.
Agree 100% even triple.💪

Wooow! That’s the best trailer improvement I have seen!

typical german over engineering. the dump frame is now designed for medium duty despite resting on a an extreme light duty tin trailer frame that will bend before he even gets the box half loaded to capacity. also winch frame is almost heavy duty. he's not throwing a skid steer inside. even funnier is the particleboard glue floor. just saw dust and glue with the glue being the strongest part and the sawdust just a drying agent filler.great construction and fantastic welding tho, very beautiful weld bead worthy of mega machine construction.
It's a phenolic hardwood film faced plywood what is used often for concrete formwork. It's really strong and weatherproof
It works for him..
If your so smart and talented then build your own and visdeo it instead of trying to tear someone else down. Hell its easy to be a internet critic
Tagia erba bifronte te al tratore 18 cavalli
In Germany it would loose its road legal permit anyway. Drilling holes into the galvanised drawbar is usually a no-go. Those cheap 750kg trailers are designed on the limit with no safety buffer, so weakening the structural parts is killing it.
Awesome job, I agree that a heavier winch would be better. However again “Awesome” job!!!
To allow it to lift heavier loads just add more pulleys 😊 think of construction cranes.
Enjoyed your build!!! @ 17:49 you noted that a stronger winch might be a idea for heavy loads! Ok I would suggest putting some of the cable you cut off back and just add a scratch block! Slower lifting but easier on life for winch, battery and trailer!
Must mean one of these
ua-cam.com/video/QYBdl6ewP_Y/v-deo.html
Excellent job, but with all that extra weight it surely will exceed the maximum gross weight those axles are designed for.
I seriously doubt there was more than 100lbs added.
Great observation, but I'd imagine there is a consideration given to "overloaders" in terms of their stated g/w rating and actual g/w rating. Just pretend he threw all the additions onto the trailer for disposal with the other cementy stuff and you'll be fine.
@@Handirifle yep and the fact that he is still able to turn the frame over by hand and doesn’t look like the Incredible Hulk 😂
Ingenious ! ! ! If you get a longer cable you can loop it back and forth onece (or twice) more underneath to gain mechanical advantage and it will lift much stronger.

Tiene una habilidad admirable, felicitaciones

Good job Hero... I'm making one now,,, I don't have the time to build so I'm buying a new hoist vs making my own...
Odlično, svaka čast. Samo tako nastavi.
I lived and worked as a light industries development engineer in Africa from 1969 to 1992 and built many such trailers that were pulled by oxen.

Łapka za pomysłowość i nakład pracy... Do lekkich towarów ok
Nice build and trailer modifications. The video was very nicely done with perfect pacing and just the right amount of voiceover/narration :)
Well done! I confess that I didn't know how you were going to power the lift until the end. Nice!
Nice!
Is the second pulley doing anything? It seems like it has no effect since the hook is attached near bottom hinge. To increase lifting force, the hook should be attached near the winch instead.
ua-cam.com/video/pJiFqlTbkps/v-deo.html
Where I am the trailer could only legally weigh 500 kgs, (no braking system and single axle) so with all the extra weight that he is adding on I wonder how much could "legally" be loaded.
@@leolechien007 I was thinking the same. Unladen weight must already be near the maximum loaded weight.
Great work! Hello from Russia.
Where you have your hook now does not double your power. bring your hook back to the winch for double power. Hope that helps. Other than that ,,, great build!
Great job. Thank you for your time and effort to make this video and share it with us. Greetings from Croatia.
everyone is a critic, i am no exception: WELL DONE! your welds UP were not lost on me, DOT standard for our roads. well done indeed!
Ideal!
Highly enjoyable I’ve always wanted to do something like that on a pick up box trailer that I have I can see where some of my ideas were quite faulty and I would have to redesign that lift assembly 17 times to get the right leverage for the cable to start pulling it up
Great idea. Instead of a more powerful winch, an additional pulley block can help.
Hej. Fajny pomysł. Super wykonie
Ficou top demais a sua invenção parabéns 👍👍

You can Double the Power of your Winch by Installing a EYE at the middle Roller cable, Then Add a Pulley Block with a Eye on it to the cable under the Trailer and Attach the Winch cable around the pully block and to the Winch Frame, you have Now Compounded the pull by 2 with the pulley block, no need to buy a larger Winch 😊 Nice Job.

Russia 🇷🇺
Terminate the winch line coming from under the trailer so you can make a quick disconnect for the winch depending on if you want to connect it to the line under the trailer or connect it to something to pull onto the trailer
Put a snach block on it. It will double your pulling power. You done a fine job
