It's because iron can block the absorption of a lot of other vitamins. I take my prenatal in the morning and then take iron in the evening or reverse so it doesn't interfere with anything. Loved all the info in this. It's so hard to find people who take natural high quality supplements and know about mthfr! 🥰

This is so insightful! With my first 2 pregnancies I just took prenatal and DHA. I just had a miscarriage around Christmas, and am looking to revamp my supplements before TTC again! Thank you for this!

I've also heard it isn't great to take an iron supplement, it's way better to get it from beef liver or grassfed beef. Also magnesium should be from bicarbonate or glycinate source. Magnesium citrate depletes other minerals

Absolutely. Citrate is better for digestion.

Makes sense that it doesn’t have Iron. Recently read in my what to expect book that taking more than 250mg of calcium at the same time as iron, can inhibit the absorption of Iron.

Loved this! So informative. I’m also one of those people who likes to know all of the things. During my first pregnancy my OB (while a very nice person) did not share my interest in finding the best prenatal for me and felt any would do for the most part. I guess that should have been my first clue I wasn’t using the right provider for me. Next time around I want to know all of the things!

Yes! A new one! I adore you supplement videos! It's hard not to preach to other pregnant mamas I know, info about supplement quality (I also in the nutritional sector) without making them feel like they've messed up. So I tend to stay quiet BUT you change how I take prenatal supplements! Thanks!

*not a recommendation* but “one fish, two fish” is extracted from anchovies which is not the healthiest fish friend ! I would stick to to your natural MILLED (flax seed, chia seed, hemp seed & walnuts) not only are the high in omega 3 & 6 but the have other benefits as well

I was reading about the prenatal online and the warning label said that consuming this could expose you to chemicals including lead which could cause birth defects...what are your thoughts on that since I'm guessing you read that and what were your concerns or not? Trying to find as much as an organic base prenatal but I'm not wanting to add any metals into my system. Thanks.

Most Americans already get enough or close to enough DHA and are deficient in EPA. Also, magnesium citrate is not a great form of magnesium. glycinate or l-threonate are both great options.

I know Vitamin A has 1,500 mcg in this container but i was under the impression that retinyl palmitate is synthetic. I just wonder how much of each vitamin A is in this container. It does not show like other companies where they separate the amount of each Vitamin A. This is my only concern because everything else looks good.

I want to throw out there Smarty pants prenatal gummies which is slightly cheaper with real folate, dha, and very similar ingredients to this prenatal. I also supplement with 2000 iu additional Vit D3, 25 mg additional b6, AND an iron supplement. Oh and pink stork prenatal probiotic.

What about beef liver instead of a prenatal. Because a lot of those vitamins are hard for a lot of people to absorb. So beef liver capsules is way more bioavailable. Also I've heart dha or omega supplements aren't good because they are pufas which cause hormonal issues & cell damage.

Is it safe to increase how much methylfolate I'm taking? Is it too late to start taking it?

I’ve heard and seen most prenatals dont have both iron and calcium because calcium makes it harder to absorb and utilize iron?
Also, when vitamins say folate - does it have to have the “ mentholated “ after it or is it still whole form as long as it’s not folic acid?
    Thank you!!

Seeking Health optimal prenatal has very high level of Vitamin A so be very careful with that. In UK it is not recomended to take it during pregnancy at all. Also if u read small print on these vitamins and also their website , it states "Consuming this product can expose you to chemicals including lead, which is known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm."

As she stated, vitamin A is very important during pregnancy - the real form at least. The only studies that I know of that have found bad things regarding vitamin A specifically refer to the “fake” form of the vitamin. I learned a lot of this from a book called Real Food for Pregnancy. If you’re pregnant, I highly suggest this book. It’s extremely informative!

Dr lynch means well, but his quality of raw material is shit.
Orthomolecular products are made in their own FDA manufacturing labs most supplements are not made by the brand. Orthomolecular only uses the highest quality raw materials in their supplements. You should do some research. I’ve been researching nutrition and differences in brands and manufacturing for 20 years. I own my own wellness practice. I’ve tried hundreds of brands. I’ve done side by side lab testing and Orthomolecular products have always had better effectiveness.
