    Did you ever say what material was used? Cant find it.

    • @RSKI
      @RSKI  4 роки тому +1

      We had the most success with basic PLA. It preformed better than ABS and PETG. As long as you use a .6mm printing nozzle. Parts made with a .4mm printing nozzle are significantly weaker in our testing of these specific parts. The water is quite cold here in Oregon, so a hot climate might cause the PLA to fail, not sure.

  • @batihansacar7479
    @batihansacar7479 4 роки тому +1

    How long PLA lasts in the water? and are you planing to print it with asa or such? good job!!!

    • @RSKI
      @RSKI  4 роки тому

      We haven't tried ASA yet, but PLA has lasted a dozen rides in Oregon surf without issue on our skis. 701cc Superjets. The water is pretty cold here, so they might fail in a warmer climate, not sure.

  • @jdmclaury6434
    @jdmclaury6434 3 роки тому +1

    Did you guys use PETG filament?

    • @RSKI
      @RSKI  3 роки тому

      We used PLA. We tested one petg filament and in a torque to failure test it failed significantly sooner than PLA. The PLA even outperformed ABS in our test. However PLA has a much lower temperature resistance, so if you are in hot weather I would try ABS or PETG.

    • @RSKI
      @RSKI  3 роки тому

      I should also mention that the best performance gains we found were by using a larger diameter printing nozzle. .6mm nozzle is the smallest I would recommend for this part. A .8mm nozzle can give even stronger results at the sacrifice of surface finish.

  • @mike.j.cataldo
    @mike.j.cataldo 2 роки тому +1

    What 3D printer do you use and are you satisfied with it's performance? And in one of you other video's you printed a soft rubber cap for an unused bilge output, what material was used to print that cap? I have a basic 3D printer (enclosed, small, PLA and ABS only) and I'm looking to jump to the next level. I really want to print your nozzle design :)

    • @RSKI
      @RSKI  2 роки тому

      Hi Mike! We have two Prusa machines, they are incredible and I would never buy another brand again after using these. Seamless performance and unmatched support and software. The flexible material we use is a TPU material and the Prusa machines we had to modify to run flexibles. Normally they only print rigid materials. Also you can always print our nozzle designs, the download is available at rskiriders.com
      Cheers!

    • @mike.j.cataldo
      @mike.j.cataldo 2 роки тому +1

      @@RSKI Thanks for the quick response. Is the mod to run flexibles something that's documented on the web? Or something you guys designed? BTW, love the content, keep it coming! I'm a Kawasaki guy (don't hold that against me :) ) but love the surf setup and bilge videos. The engine rebuild was also very well done.

    • @RSKI
      @RSKI  2 роки тому +1

      It took us one month to problem solve our way into making flexibles work 100% of the time on the Prusa. Haven’t seen it documented anywhere. There are machines that are better at printing flexibles if you want to really do it easily.
      We love all Standups and have several Kawasaki skis in the RSKI family! Thanks for the encouragement!

    I printed an all solid nozzle with a 0.4mm nozzle. It disintegrated within 5 minutes of riding. Is the 0.6mm nozzle that much of a strength difference? I just got one in the mail and wondering if it’s worth the filament.

    • @RSKI
      @RSKI  2 роки тому +1

      Yes. 🙂 We’ve had a few break that were printed with .6mm nozzle, but all of them break pretty quick with the .4mm nozzle. 3D Solutech green filament was the strongest we found. Also super cheap!
