    I printed my m-jet probably 2 years ago now and I love it! I designed some of the mods in the mods folder such as the ride plate and the passive bilge pump hull and I'd highly recommend at least trying my ride plate mod, it made mine much more stable overall!

    • @kpopRC
      @kpopRC  8 місяців тому +1

      tried your ride plate mod. it loosens up very easy. and end up falling off. we're tough on our boats. that one bolt holding it in doesn't cut it.

    • @kpopRC
      @kpopRC  8 місяців тому +1

      it's actually based on the race jetboats hull design. And it' works very well in the river maybe because the power to weight ratio is so much more than a 1:1. Im pressing m jet to make an adapter for the pro boat hull. but that's in the air.

    • @layoutdeluxe
      @layoutdeluxe 9 місяців тому

      @@kpopRC There is a creek up in the mountains, four hours from here, that we visit a few times a year. The last times it didn't have much rain/snow, so water level is very low. I did take a Proboat Jetjam and put a ridiculous brushless system in it. Acts like a salmon (great paint scheme LOL) going up the creek! But it's very small and not very stable. The impeller sucks in too much dirt and air when going over ground and rocks. I do like that 3D printer - has been in my future plans for a while already! Keep up the great entertainment!

    Does this boat have any relation or history with the quikjet? Just wondering because this looks like a very simular boat in design other than the pump/impeller being quite different. Ive been using the quikjet hull design modified with a larger 38mm pump for several years now reliably. These jetboats are a blast

    • @kpopRC
      @kpopRC  6 місяців тому

      once you put the esc batt and servo in there, this thing is not light. and sits low on the water. not sure if saving 3 grams of weight is going to do anything but create a more brittle hull. what's the point? so far petg cf is great for the hulls. even then the epoxy is the real strength on these boats.

    • @monkeytits0

      Side note as well self leveler has to go on thick there is a chance if you only want to coat atleast the bottom with self leveler you could prop it upside down cover unwanted areas tape around the edges past the rest of boat and literally poor it on similar to the way a surfboard would be coated or even a garage floor and let gravity do the work which should in turn leave to a mirror finish and all excess resin will drip off the boat

    As cool as that printer is, and all the features is has, I wouldn't consider almost $1,500 "affordable". Most people 'struggle' when it comes to paying more than $700-750 for a 3D printer. That's why more people go with the Ender 3 & 5, Prusa Mini, and similar.
    As for the boat...TOTALLY COOL!!! 🤙🏼

    • @kpopRC

      as some one who's lived in the world of cheap printers. my fav was the kit version of the prusa which was 1000 dollars. and this KNOCKS IT OUT OF THE PARK. the problem with what you are offering at a lower price point is your not accounting for the amount of wasted filament and wasted time calibrating and troubleshooting. 1800 dollars is the price of a fully battery equipped arma truck. i think we're buying rc platforms that cost more than this printer. that's why it's in the budget. Everyone's budget is different. just like bambu offers tears. the bambu p1p is 599. and you won't have to use a 3d party slicer to make it work properly. or you won't need to invest in octoprint with a never stocking rasp pie. so no i very much disagree. you're comparing a dji camera drone to a mini whoop.

    Like the Vid: But you gotta admit the title makes no sense, and is more clickbait ngl.
    1): Normal hobbyists will not have a CNC machine rivaling 3D Printer at home, or your smart Sticker maker so If i want a ProBoat Mojo at 1/3 the price I would need the Printer(s), Filament, Program and Design for a box of beer. 🍻
    2): The new Hobbygrade Electronics would cost around 200-300 EUR here that in itself would be 1/3.
    3): The price of the whole endeavour is roughly 2200,-EUR The ProBoat will be available in 2 yrs for 300,-EUR used.
    This Vid shows what can be done with a printing workshop in the backyard, it shows what crazy fun a RC jet boat can be, but for 90% of enthusiasts looking at the new ProBoat, its not a reality.

    • @kpopRC
      @kpopRC  8 місяців тому

      your math is wrong. We built these boats for 180 Canadian dollars (THAT'S 133us dollars), not counting the radio... (because as a hobbiest there is nothing worse than another RTR controller). Now quick question. does my 3d printer ONLY print jet boat hulls? I get it. you can't build things, and now you have to pay a premium for sub par mass manufactured toys, not engineered master pieces. You do what you want. but this boat is FAR better than the proboat. I can hear that single impellor cavitating from here. how about you visit the community, and you go see how people are actually building these on a budget.

    • @mayhemSWG
      @mayhemSWG 8 місяців тому

      My "maths" are not wrong Bud.
      I am German, I live in Germany, here the ProBoat is 618,- EUR as of writing this.
      And to top it off a Bamboo Labs printer that is mass stored here (Warehoused) still costs more than in the US/CAN roughly 1600,- EUR.
      I get *you* can build much more with your Printer and affiliation with RC brands, however I stand to the fact that 90% of RC Hobby consumers will not be able to produce this result for 1/3 the price of a new RC in Mass Production.
      Cheers 🍻

    ... Bambu X1C is not the most advanced commercial 3d printer out there today..... its currently the best spec'd CONSUMER LEVEL 3d printer for at home use... Stratasys and many others make *actual* commercial 3d printers but with their cost today as a finished product using IP protected tech, youre almost better off designing and building a large format printer for your applications needs using readily available motors, extrusions, PSU's, hotends etc with either one of the two most popular open source firmwares

      @kpopRC  8 місяців тому

      absolutely disagree. there is a point where open source can be a hinderance. These printers are a great example. they just work. there is no fiddling with them and part support is cheap and available. this isn't apple where you can't repair anything, this is a refined series of printers out of the box ready to print. As some one who's been an early adopter of 3d printing, i'd say this company is a massive step forward, something this industry hasn't seen with COMSUMER LEVEL PRINTERS🙄. Commercially available sorry. semantics, no need to be a devils advocate. we get it. you have 3d printers too.
