Do a 12ft 1 person fully 3D printed electric jet boat, structural parts all printed on a 256x256x256 max blocks, interlocking fits, and finally fiberglass it... and take it to the lake... I am sure that is enough content for at least 5 long episodes, and certain sponsorship opportunities.
I printed my m-jet probably 2 years ago now and I love it! I designed some of the mods in the mods folder such as the ride plate and the passive bilge pump hull and I'd highly recommend at least trying my ride plate mod, it made mine much more stable overall!
@@kpopRC I definitely don't send mine off rocks like you guys do. If you do like the way it rides with it you could epoxy one onto that impeller housing and print a spare without the ride plate and swap the whole housing if you want to change the ride characteristics. Thanks for the feedback and for trying it!
Incredible build and design. The 3D printer looks to be amazing! Seems the boat hull design is for super flat water and be interested to see a river/mini jet boat design hull with the same mechanics in it 🤓
it's actually based on the race jetboats hull design. And it' works very well in the river maybe because the power to weight ratio is so much more than a 1:1. Im pressing m jet to make an adapter for the pro boat hull. but that's in the air.
@@kpopRC There is a creek up in the mountains, four hours from here, that we visit a few times a year. The last times it didn't have much rain/snow, so water level is very low. I did take a Proboat Jetjam and put a ridiculous brushless system in it. Acts like a salmon (great paint scheme LOL) going up the creek! But it's very small and not very stable. The impeller sucks in too much dirt and air when going over ground and rocks. I do like that 3D printer - has been in my future plans for a while already! Keep up the great entertainment!
holy crap what an episode!!! i've really been itching to get into 3D printing for RC stuff specifically and this thing looks like it fits the bill perfectly. $1500 is really not that much considering what we pay for our large scales. i just recently got into boats myself so this episode really resonated with me. consider me sold on this printer AND jet boat project! also, +1 for the Binky reference 🤣
I wonder if 2 metal rails on the bottom of the boat would help it survive being launched of rocks better. I would like to see this boat printed a little bit bigger. I would also like to see a jet boat variant modeled after James Bond Q boat.
There are already 2 new boat hull designs. find M-jet on fb, and see how far these boats have come. even 3rd party guys designing hulls specifically for mjet pump designs. im actually stoked for you to see how awesome this has all evolved.
once you put the esc batt and servo in there, this thing is not light. and sits low on the water. not sure if saving 3 grams of weight is going to do anything but create a more brittle hull. what's the point? so far petg cf is great for the hulls. even then the epoxy is the real strength on these boats.

Does this boat have any relation or history with the quikjet? Just wondering because this looks like a very simular boat in design other than the pump/impeller being quite different. Ive been using the quikjet hull design modified with a larger 38mm pump for several years now reliably. These jetboats are a blast

the jet boat shape is specifically designed to keep the bow pointing straight. this design has been taken from real race jetboats. and is needed or else you won't be able to hold any turn.
I been building big beautiful rc aircraft that look absolutely stunning after sanding smoothing and nice paint jobs and same wit rc boats and racing fpv drones and even self guided highly advanced gos based video filming drones for videoing sports events stock car races ect.
this is the switch from finicky opensource roughness, to a full house hold appliance. I haven't even shown off the abs and tpu and all the other engineering materials this thing prints with no issue.
make sure the hull isn't cracked. don't use unshielded ceramic bearings. use a finger of grease on the nitro fuel tubing. and zip tie your cooling lines. make sure your motor cooling jacket isnt' leaking. at 2150kv we get 1tbsp of water every 5 min or so.
no. there are a ton of mounting points and channels for cooling, and a motor mount. and there is also a chamber for the auto righting feature. none of which would allow for vase mode.
Hey can you do the kiwi jet X next it is a really nice boat it is kinda similar to the mjet sprint jet but it is bigger If you want to have a look just search up proton RC. amazing video and makes me kinda want to buy a mjet sprint jet
i bought the plans. i've printed it. and i've never finished the build. it's not a better boat, and it's a single impellor with no stator. way less power for volts, and no auto righting. I'll stick with Mjet!
I love the fact you listed everything on how to make this boat and where to get the stuff, though i feel you could have broken this video up in 3 different ones and spent more time talking about t Bambu and their printers and showing in real time the print of the boat, plus a whole video on making and assembling the boat and talking about the creator a little more. then a whole video you guys going nuts on the water
yeah. but i didn't. and the bambu is a permanent fixture in the lab. I am still learning how to use it to it's fullest. Let me own it for more than a month please. and you need to understand there is a whole game to be played with youtube, don't hate the player hate the game.

As cool as that printer is, and all the features is has, I wouldn't consider almost $1,500 "affordable". Most people 'struggle' when it comes to paying more than $700-750 for a 3D printer. That's why more people go with the Ender 3 & 5, Prusa Mini, and similar. As for the boat...TOTALLY COOL!!! 🤙🏼
as some one who's lived in the world of cheap printers. my fav was the kit version of the prusa which was 1000 dollars. and this KNOCKS IT OUT OF THE PARK. the problem with what you are offering at a lower price point is your not accounting for the amount of wasted filament and wasted time calibrating and troubleshooting. 1800 dollars is the price of a fully battery equipped arma truck. i think we're buying rc platforms that cost more than this printer. that's why it's in the budget. Everyone's budget is different. just like bambu offers tears. the bambu p1p is 599. and you won't have to use a 3d party slicer to make it work properly. or you won't need to invest in octoprint with a never stocking rasp pie. so no i very much disagree. you're comparing a dji camera drone to a mini whoop.
Yes you need to print the bigger better jet And no you don't need a $5 servo $4 HobbyKing will work just fine😂. Check out the Kwikjet I've been wanting to build 1 of M Jets but I got three kwik Jets😊 they're bigger and a little bit better but the streams have been low ineed the smaller mjet.

Always makin cool shit brother, keep em rollin. Is that a 1/6 scale of the mini trench boats? Double the size on a single spool and that would be awesome. You could print the parts and sell them for 250-300 depending on durability, the thrasher is a beast but cost 2 arms.
i don't ever use gluestick. only for pla which i use very rarely. i use petg on a textured print surface, with no anything except a clean with Isopropyl alcohol.
1500$ Printer.... I honestly imagined an extra 0 on that price for LIDAR and AI calibration and "spaghetti" detection. Not too bad if you look at the Voron2.4 which ends up at the same cost, without multi material feed system / drybox

I printed my m-jet probably 2 years ago now and I love it! I designed some of the mods in the mods folder such as the ride plate and the passive bilge pump hull and I'd highly recommend at least trying my ride plate mod, it made mine much more stable overall!
tried your ride plate mod. it loosens up very easy. and end up falling off. we're tough on our boats. that one bolt holding it in doesn't cut it.

NICE! it's so good. it works so well. i'll be printing tpu soon. and have been printing abs, and petg cf, as well as pla tough.

nah the sealing is just self leveling epoxy. it doesn't give the best finish. but it's strong AF!
