Did this including High Street on Saturday 24 th August 2024. 7 h walk. Garburn Pass was a mini stream after rainfall. Ferns on the hillside up to Yoke and on descent from Shipman knots at shoulder height and over growing the path. Terrain east of high street mega boggy and slippy . Awesome walk and views. Goretex boots an absolute must. Don’t be fooled by the footage on here that shows mainly stony paths or dry grass . Thanks Black Crag for a great video with amazing cinematography.

I did this walk with some friends and the sense of exhilaration was such that I persuaded my wife to enjoy the experience with me on a second walk there.
My wife has an issue with a heart valve which will need replacing in the future but being plucky we set off to walk the horseshoe. There is nothing worse than having someone with you who moans about how hard a walk is so by the time we reached Thornthwaite crag I was a good half a mile ahead. I unpacked our lunches and when she eventually arrived I got a mouthful of moaning. I pointed at the route we had walked and said look around and enjoy the views.
Her reaction was 'Is that what we have walked' yup ! Out came the phone facebook activated and pictures shown. The comment though was, 'Having a great day on the Kentmere Horseshoe with stunning views and good weather' ! Enough said.
If anybody reading this has not been and walked this you are missing a treat. Brilliant and thanks for your wonderful videos. They have helped me stay somewhat sane over the last couple of years. Cheers.

Loving your work! I’ve binged watched every video over a period of a couple of weeks. I used to walk regularly in the Welsh Mountains but haven’t been out for over 15 years. You’ve rekindled my love of the great outdoors, and I’m planning a walk in the Lakes in the next couple of weeks. The Kentmere Horseshoe is currently my most likely venture. Keep up the excellent work 👊

I completed this route yesterday, absolutely stunning views of the Lake District. Lots of boggy areas to content with and hard to dodge., thankfully frozen over for us yesterday but could imagine them to be a problem on rainy days warm days. Fairfield Circular next.

Hi again ,sorry it's been a while, crazy world as we all know.So much enjoying your videos, so so interesting and just spectacular, breathtaking, but its YOU that make it special, you have a natural gift. As I write this I'm in Whitehaven premier inn, going home tomorrow. I'm here in the Lake District for 2 reasons ,the first is my brother who died 2 years ago and lived for climbing mountains. I have struggled without him ,think of him every day and the other reason is YOU, thankyou for giving me inner strength to start climbing/walking etc ,im a beginner. I Climbed striding Edge/Hellvelyn with tear in my eyes for my brother. Since then weather has deteriorated , mist low , on top of summits so explored lower, Wast Water, EnnerdaleWater and Buttermere,so Beautiful even with no sun , hopefully next time I can climb to the top of the fells.Had a Guinness at Kirkstile inn .I need to buy you Beer , take care

When you get to the edge of a big drop off I'm imagining you zipping up the sleeves of your wing suit and Finnie peering out of your pouch with her goggles on.......I haven't had a drink 😅

Thank you for doing such a comprehensive vlog of this walk which looks amazing, one that I have not done but will do, most lightly next year now. I have just completed the Coledale Horseshoe, 8 Wainwrights but I did it over 2 trips (not as young or as fit as you), 5 summits the first walk and the final 3 last week and was blessed with 2 days of amazing weather. A very enjoyable watch and cannot believe that I have not been watching your videos before, really enjoyed it! Cheers Alan

Absolutely great video. I did the same walk and wild camp a few months ago although I didn’t have such good weather. Couldn’t see a thing on the first day, so watching your video let’s me know what I missed 😂 keep the content coming. It lifts my spirits no end.

Fantastic video again. Walked this one with friends back in June of 2019. Very different conditions (heavy rain and drizzle once we got past yoke) so it was great to see what we would have seen. I'll definitely get back out to do it again sometime.

Did this one last week including High Street. Totally agree Mardale Ill Bell is a bit boring, especially after I’d enjoyed the first four tops so much. There was a field open with a £5 a day charge for parking. My wife will be jealous tonight when I show her the views she missed. 😀

My favourite place. I wish we would of done this together, but saying that it might of kilt me. 🤣 I was looking at going through the kentmere valley but you’ve got my thinking about Yoke! That opening footage, wonderful! Quite emotional, seeing all those areas and the kentmere valley looking amazing! Thanks Glen, I enjoyed this heaps! Hope to see you soon.
Edit, I need to do this hike! Thanks Glen! I’m thinking of doing my first lone kip in the van and do the path past the res first and up to Harter. Belting!

Will have to do it without my four legged buddy as he burned his paws on Red Pike last week and 20k’s a bit much for him! Actually saw someone who looked just like you on High Crag but on checking his boots and rucksack, it wasn’t.
Looking forward to the next instalment. 👍🏻

Apologies Glen. I am usually on your releases straight away but after this week with a severe case of pre - match tension before St Helens lifted the Challenge Cup yesterday I have only just watched your vlog. Absolutely stunning. You continue to make the Lakeland Fells look absolutely stunning. I am sure that I will go around the Kentmere shoe again. Was this one a little too long for Fin? As always, keep on doing this amazing work or is it a complete pleasure?

That Church Yard at Kentmere is full of Gilpin's, decendents of Richard de Gilpin (Gylpin), awarded the lordship of the manor of Kentmere for killed The Wild Boar of Westmorland..On the site of the Wild Boar Inn...My mums family are all Gilpin's and are visiting it next week from down south..The Wild Boar used to attack people in the Crook area. Great little story.
