  • Relax as I take my vintage Polaroid 250 Land Camera out into the field and take e few test photographs.
This is the second video in a series of videos featuring this wonderful camera. In the first video, I unboxed the camera from its original box and gave you a tour of this beautiful piece of mechanical art. If you missed it you can click the following link to view the video.
    • Polaroid Land Camera ASMR
The Polaroid model 250 is part of the series of Polaroid cameras that started with the Automatic 100 and finished with the Automatic model 450
This Polaroid camera shares a common set of features with all models in this line such as:
Folding bellows, automatic exposure, and use of 100-series Pack-film. The 250 is one of the higher-end models of the 100-400 series line of folding Pack-film Land Cameras, and though similar to the 100, 350, 360 and 450 models; it lacks the electronic development timer of the later (higher-numbered) models.
Manufactured from 1967 until 1969, early models of the 250 have a larger viewfinder window than the later Zeiss-Ikon rangefinder models. Functionally identical, the earlier model has a larger window at the rear. About midway through the 250's life cycle, the viewfinder was changed to match the same type that would be used on the 350 and 450 models, effectively meaning there were 2 versions of the 250 produced. Having the Zeiss-Ikon viewfinder, mine is an example of the later model Polaroid 250.
The 250 is a very nice camera and it has a few advantages over the majority of the other, 'consumer' models in the series, such as:
Zeiss Ikon-designed rangefinder, with projected frame lines and parallax compensation.
    Tripod mount on all-metal body
    3 element glass lens (114mm f8.8)
Retailing for $160, the 250 was produced from 1967 until 1969, when it was replaced by the model 350.

A little about what it is I’m doing in my videos:
Why am I whispering or talking in a soft tone? Because this video, is an ASMR relaxation video. What is ASMR? You can see for yourself by visiting the link at the very bottom of this page and reading about ASMR for yourself.
The videos on my You Tube channel portray some of the typical day-to-day things that I do for relaxation, as well my never ending chores. This video was produced with relaxation in mind and hopefully has some ASMR qualities. Stress is harmful to your well-being and in today's fast-passed world, stress management is more important than ever, and so I hope this ASMR video in some way acts as a stress-reliever for those watching, as well as a sleep-aid for anyone having a difficult time going to sleep.

There is one thing modern digital camera's can't reach, even against an old dinosaur like this one: dynamic range.
Sure, we have filters to emulate the sight of a polaroid picture (dust texture and frame included), but the whole detail between light and shadow and the general feel....
Thanks for making this! It didn't relax me, as my jaw dropped to floor the second you peeled away the negative to reveal the first picture. ;)
Can't wait to see more! :))

what size is the picture? I have been thinking of getting a couple of bellows cameras to modify and repurpose as a DIY large format stereo camera. I am thinking if 120 roll film can be used or making film holders for something larger like a 8x5 negative.

I love the Fuji 100 Polaroid film. I really hope they keep making it. Did you know you can recover the negatives and print them in the darkroom? I haven't tried it, but it's on my list.

    • @RelaxingASMR
      @RelaxingASMR  9 років тому

eggy68 Haven't heard of any plans by Fuji for dropping the film, so hopefully we're safe. AS for the negatives, yes, you can print/scan from them but they will need cleaned first. Thanks for commenting:)

RelaxingASMR Actually, Fuji dropped the axe on the FP-3000B just last year which is really sad… Because the FP-3000B produced a very beautiful B&W..! As for the FP-100C, it is safe for now and is the only peel apart film being produced now. Fuji dropped everything else except for this film! :( I just hope they don't make a stupid decision like Polaroid did and drop this one too!

Roflcopter4b Your guess is as good as mine. This however, is straight from Fuji:
This film is designed for use at temperatures between
      10°C and 30°C (50°F and 95°F), but yields best
      results at 25°C (77°F)
