    The training that unlocked my anti-airs was to record a jump-in, a big button that's whiff punishable, and a lot of wiggly moves. Set the big button to be less frequent but you have to absolutely focus on whiff punishing it. Don't miss a single one. With your primary focus on the ground attack, now make sure you also anti-air with your secondary focus.

      This, you have to not be looking for the jump in, it's easy to anti air when jump ins are on top of the mental stack, it's when they do it when you don't expect it and you actually have to react in that split second where the hard part is. Training your brain to DP/anti air whenever they jump unexpectedly, is most likely doable, but harder to do for some than others. I still struggle with it. Honestly probably the best way is to play against lvl 8 CPU, find a char that attempts jump ins often, like Kimberly and play normally and try to react.

    Always helpful tutorials!
    Little thing about the simple training exercises that a lot of people don't know: They usually have numerous recordings that are disabled by default that you can turn on to steadily increase the difficulty and complexity.
    The anti-air simple training adds in horizontal movements, dashes, and throws if you activate the other recordings.

    I was not even thinking about battle hub as a training way, everyone saying record this and that but having a real opponent without being concerned about your rank is so much better

      You can get away with offense taking you to Master easily in this game. Cornering your opponent is so strong in this game, if you focus on playing aggressive it's an easy way to master, but you have to train defense at some point.

      Well, you will achieve master rank if you win 50% of your matches, so I would not put a lot of faith in the name of the rank.

      @evalangley3985 it's closer to 43%. Yes, it's made to be easier, but that's why there is MR. You can feel accomplished getting Master rank but also can keep going to improve.

    I did this so much as Sagat in SFV. Definitely glad I did now that I play GBVSR. Anti-Air combos are so deadly.
    I think a very important thing to note, that you don't mention in the video but you do show: When the opponent is in jumping range to punish your fireball you have, at this point, conditioned them to believe that you will throw fireballs no matter what; so sticking out a quick normal (like St.LK) can bait them into jumping as they tunnel vision on whatever animation they see *having* to be the start up to a fireball. This way you can safely force jumps without having to just keep sending fireballs. This applying that simple normal with intention helps you practice more than just Anti-Airs.

    I am mixed with my anti airs, I can DP when am anticipating it. Not really on a raw reaction. I can get a normal off to anti air on reaction at times but they aren’t always reliable and do trade. To anticipate it I feel it makes me play passive, which I don’t enjoy.

    Sick vid this is how I learned to play sf. Using Luke actually made the fireball/dp gameplan grossly effective. Having more options with his sandblast and upper cut helped A LOT, and double od was a nice tool for juicing extra damage.

    I was trying out 801 Strider's training and I could consistently anti-air and punish counter on reaction. In a real match, it's as if I've never practiced anti-airs (though it drastically improved my punishes and DI jab perfect parries). Never even thought about training in the Battle Hub, I only use this place for the Drive Ticket missions. Thanks for the advice!
    For anyone wondering about the training, pick Ken and record the following stuff:
    -shimmy
    -shimmy + d.MK
    -shimmy + DI into any LP or LK
    -shimmy + forward jump j.HP
    Stay at around neutral range, try to punish counter d.MK on whiff, anti-air j.HP and parry DI (perfect parry if you can).
    Start with shimmy set on 4, j.HP on 1 and d.MK on 1. Once you get comfortable, enable the DI option.
    Increase/decrease any option if you need.
    The recordings are on Ken because his d.MK and j.HP are really strong, though if you feel you have a hard time dealing with a character, feel free to change it.
    Don't forget to click on "save training settings" in the "Simple training settings" tab!

    I tried this but didnt work as well for me personally. I've been doing drills in training mode with the dummy walking back and forward, drive rush xx button, jumping and using a poke just cause generally those are the 3 main things that will happen in neutral and it helps me practice drive rush checks and whiff punishing at the same time

    Yup, I'm drilling antiairs in training mode with different recording slots like DI, dash up throw, DR button to sharpen reactions, but in the matches I just stare at them flying at me, like a deer in the headlights and end up just walking back.
    It's especially hard to gauge crossup distance for some reason. I think that I can walk under them, but end up eating a foot with my face most of the times 😅

      Try to find opponents who are close in skill, you can check if they’re close in skill before the match starts

    I agree with you as the basic anti-air training is not really happening in a real match.
    But, for someone who didn't play fighting games for many years (that was my case) or if it's their first time playing a fighting game, this training is really essential for one thing : muscle memory.
    It will allow you to not think about the input and do it with your training and/or in a real match.
    Previously, I did train my anti-air with your training, but I was always late to dp. I then figured out it was because I didn't have the muscle memory to do it.

      Playing against lvl 8 CPU in training mode is a good way to train anti airs, just play against a char that jumps in more often than not, like Kimberly. The cpu does it pretty randomly and not telegraphed so it's very similar to a real match.

    People should learn to use their normals as anti-air. I don't play with shotos, so my anti-air game is really different.

      True but some AA normals can lose in certain situations which is why DP is usually better (if you have one)

    Interesting. I've only done the training mode AA practice. Seems you can add in DI, DR & other stuff.
    Focusing on my main, so no DP. But I have HP & charge moves.
    Didn't know you have a Discord. I've been in one for another content creator. Might test out AAs in Casual. Good vid.

      ​@StephGoKrazy no. It's forward, down, jump and punch. Piano and hold forward and down. Crouching dp is hold down and tap forward twice p on the second forward.
