The majority of self-proclaimed heterosexual women in the study reported some amount of attraction to women? Would love to see the stats for straight men on this
I always wonder what exactly does attraction mean? Is it sexual? Is it romantic? Is it platonic? Does it you mean you think someone is handsome/beautiful? Does it mean you'd engage in some kind of physical encounter if given the chance? Idk
@@ahmorganthis is why the lgbtq+ community often differentiates between multiple types of attraction. Someone can be, for example, asexual but biromantic, meaning they aren’t sexually attracted to anyone but can be romantically attracted to people of any gender. There’s also aesthetic attraction that’s more just the attraction/admiration of a physically attractive person without sexual or romantic connotations.
@nava4672 I've never heard of the term aesthetic attraction, but I believe almost every human alive does this. Thank you for sharing the terminology. I'm using that from now on.
It makes sense to me that older woman are more likely to be attracted to more masculine faces considering how men's faces become more masculine as they age. Noses get bigger, Jaws get wider, brow ridges get more prominent, and faces look rougher as men age. I have not seen a lot of androgynous old men. It's usually young men between 18 and 30 that have pronounced feminine qualities.
hahahaha yeah but i think a lot of “heterosexual” people that have some attraction to the same sex may just not be willing to be in an actual *relationship* with some with the same gender (for whatever reason) and it’s just easier to just explain that than to say you’re bisexual and wouldn’t be with a member of the same gender because at that point a lot of people would question if you actually count as bisexual.
General attraction isn’t the same as wanting to or willing to be in a relationship or intimate with someone. You can literally just look at someone and go “wow they’re beautiful” and that’s it
Must be true. It reminds me… 😂 When I watched The Lord Of The Rings as a young teenager I was crushing on Legolas, who does have more feminine/softer features. Rewatching as an adult, I found Aragorn more attractive, and he’s more masculine and rugged looking. While as a teen I couldn’t see the appeal in him at all. Funny how that works.
@@strawb3r_ lmao that was my thought too 😂 like if you’re also attracted to the same gender you’re bi, even if it’s not an even attraction, like some bi people are more attracted to one, maybe only romantically attracted to one, etc But yeah that’s bi and I wonder who’s gonna break the news 😂
Naah, it depends on the kind of attraction. I always say that it took me 10 years to find out I'm straight because I was so confused by my same-sex attraction I sometimes felt. It took me soo long to learn how to differentiate between aesthetical attraction/admiration and actual physical or romantical attraction. I only feel the former towards women, not the latter. Some women are just gorgeous or give off super cool vibes.
@@solar0wind what an insightful comment. What fantastic self awareness. I don’t feel like I’m overemphasizing when I say that this comment has recognizable sociological value. I’m a man, but I’d assume that what you’ve described is likely the case for the vast majority of women who claim some degree of same sex attraction. I’m extremely interested in female sexuality from a sociological standpoint, and as you said, there seems to be some confusion between recognizing the general physical and sexual attraction of other women (which I believe [plot twist] is fundamentally a biologically motivated attraction to what they assume, subconsciously, is actually attractive to men, hence the admiration) to actually being sexually attracted to them themselves. They just haven’t been able to understand and articulate those feelings as clearly as you have. Outstanding comment.
Totally agree I don’t understand why women get bashed for looking more masculine and men more bashed for looking more feminine. People are just born with certain features and neither is either better/worse than the other.
oh absolutely it’s just about preference. i can acknowledge a masculine man is attractive and probably adored by many, just not personally attractive to me. i love feminine men. i used to be lesbian when i was younger and boy does the environment shape your preferences. now i prefer men who look like women, but not women really. at least not for a relationship, funny how that works.
This sounds like a totally BS study. I would be interested in seeing their methodology. I know hundreds of women, from all over the world, and across the LGBTQ+ spectrum…and this does not align with any of the women I know, or myself. Furthermore, every several years there are many “studies” like this published, and they all get huge media viewership, but are ultimately found to have extremely poor methodology, and are often even paid for by some brand trying to sell some sort of crappy product…meaning the whole study is usually just designed to sell people crap. In this case, I’m guessing something to help make men “manlier” whatever that means (again, how did they define “manly”? How did they define “feminine”? These are things that may seem obvious in a UA-cam short, but need to be meticulously defined in a well-designed study…and one covering such a wide spectrum of different types of people would have to be extremely large to have any sort of accurate statistical viability. Even then, a single study means nothing. It’s only once you get to the point of having so much evidence that you’re able to conduct well-designed meta-analyses and systematic reviews that you can start drawing really accurate conclusions about the topic at hand). So, just remember everyone: just because the often scientifically illiterate clickbait-ey media says something that is published in a “study” does not make it true! Please remember that! This kind of BS “study” is the kind that makes scientists roll their eyes, and is what is considered the pseudoscientific clickbait of the scientific world. However, the media loves pseudo, poorly designed, probably pay-for-play studies like this because they discuss topics that get clicks, which means more money for the media sources. And even some reputable scientific journals fall prey to sham studies like this, just because they need to get clicks and money themselves…which is actually a big problem in the industry that has been written about quite extensively lately. Men, don’t buy into this kind of crap, please. Women, don’t start questioning if you’re abnormal because of this study. You’re not. And please everyone - do not buy whatever scam product this “study” is probably trying to sell you.
there's a difference between sexual attraction and thinking someone is attractive tho. there are a lot of people who find women beautiful to look at but wouldn't want to date or have a relationship with them, same goes for men. if they never had the urge to date and/or have sex with someone of the same gender and only find them pretty to look at i wouldn't call them bi.
@@leroidesnoob8418 Nope, sorry: you're 100% wrong there. Someone can feel very attracted to same-sexed people, but have zero choice to actually ACT on said desires -- such an exampke would still be heterosexual.
@@NotAStanAccount nah, having desire to the other gender and never acting on it, even hiding, is not hetero, it already exist and is called being "closeted"
This is pretty common, though. I've discussed this with some of the women in my friend group that are straight, and several of them admitted they're attracted to women, they just can't see themselves in a relationship with one. I think a lot of straight people operate this way, where their identity is less about attraction, and more specifically who they'd date, cause those aren't necessarily always aligned.
@@Li-Fu7that means they aren't straight, if you feel any kind of attraction towards the same gender then you are NOT straight even though you wouldn't date them.
@@ImSoSpookyy I think self identification is more important, tbh. People can disagree, but sexuality is more complicated than mere attraction, because the context of that attraction also matters.
@@ImSoSpookyy The lines between "attraction" and "thinking someone is attractive" are very blurred. It's not as simple as "if you find women attractive you're bi" because even if they see attraction in women, that doesn't necessarily mean they would have any desire to act on that attraction. Many people in this category I think are experiencing aesthetic attraction rather than sexual attraction, as someone in the ace/aro bubble there are definitely many different types of attraction other than just sexual attraction that people often forget about

Because everyone with a beard conforms to your personal standard of the male appearance and must have "forgotten to shave this morning", rather than let their beard grow as men have been doing for centuries.
Men with touch of feminine features (like delicate lips) , and sharp jaw line, clean shaven, slightly long hair that just stretches below the neck are just soo visually pleasing❤! Note : I nowhere mentioned that Sharp jawline is a feminine feature. The other features are something I find attractive other than the feminine features.
@alessandrakalini I wouldn't think so. Maybe there's a slight tendency for men to have sharper jaws and women softer but either sex can have either trait.
Well, in my childhood I hadn't felt protected by my father (quite the opposite, he was the source of my anxiety) so I am attracted to muscular and tall men with deep voices. And yet I am not too feminine and gentle. Traumas can influence our preferences.
You definitely need to seek help from a clinic psychologist, because you can perceive people with psychopathic characteristics such as anger and aggression as strong and you can cause great harm to yourself and even stay in this cycle permanently.
That makes sense, it’s why younger women find dudes like Timothee chalamet attractive while older women find a dude like Tom hardy more attractive although I think a lot of these women are technically Bi.
Where are you getting that from? This doesn’t make sense, who you are attracted to depends on so many factors including how prone you are to be influenced by social media and the people around you especially in developed areas. I have always been attracted to masculine older-features and I am in my early 20s. There is something called individuality its nonsense to categorize peoples preferences because that will never represent reality.
@@miaalmanza5344 Where am I getting it from? Did we not just watch the same video where they surveyed 20,000 + women ? Also just pay attention to pop culture. It’s cool that you have individual preferences and yes individuality is important but that doesn’t mean you should be offended by generalizations as it helps us get a better idea of society as a whole. We are all unique but we aren’t that unique and in general certain groups will have certain predispositions, it just is what it is, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
@@gsutton219 Well yeah “pay attention to pop culture” relates to my comment on how prone to societal influence people in developed areas (or highly exposed and influenced by social media) are. I guess you could say that’s part of reality and generalizing is useful at times but pop culture does not represent humans, women, or men as a whole in any significant and STABLE way. Pop culture heavily consists of following a crowd and accepting it as an absolute truth and thinking omg we have groundbreaking results! Over something nearly meaningless that we want to force associations with just to have a sense of discovery. Like assuming most women who feel a certain way are “technically bi” like what??. @@miaalmanza5344It’s all good lol. These studies don’t bother me but I suppose I could see how they can be annoying as it does overlook people’s individual attraction cues. Also they literally said that most of the women have sexual attraction to women as well, that would make them Bi.

For anybody confused about the heterosexual attraction to other woman the study states "The questionnaire asked for the participant’s sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation (heterosexual/ bisexual/ homosexual), level of sexual attraction to women (1 = ‘not at all’ to 7 = ‘very’), level of sexual attraction to men (1 = ‘not at all’ to 7 = ‘very’), and variables known to influence masculinity preferences (i.e., age, hormonal contraceptive use, relationship status, sociosexual attitude, and own attractiveness), because controlling for them could be important to uncovering the relationships of interest." so i guess if the numbers are for example 2 to 7 they are reported to that group, which makes sense. the numbers were: "On the question of sexual attraction to men, 7.30% reported scores of 1 5, 20.60% reported a 6, and 72.10% reported a 7. On the question of sexual attraction to women, 37.40% reported a 1, 34.20% reported a 2, and 28.40% reported scores of 3-7. " So i think bisexual people would have an attraction of 4 or higher logically
Ah, yes, heterosexual woman attracted to woman. 😂 That's one of three: 1. The study didn't elaborate the questions properly and has a faulty method. Did the researchers explain this result? Cause it's totally contradictory. I wouldn't publish this without checking the data again; 2. The study had a breakthrough on it's field. Well that would be funny; 3. The video's author read something wrong. Anyways, this study totally unreliable as of now.
There are different kinds of attraction. I feel aesthetical attraction to women, but sexual and romantic attraction towards men. Doesn't make me non-straight.
@solar0wind Yeah, I agree. But the video explicitly says "heterosexual women somewhat sexually attracted to women". That's "somewhat" of a contradiction 😅 And there's even more: 63% answered yes. There's no doubt something is wrong!
@@jordanavery-ku5vi Well that would expose another fault on the study, when they discretisized the answers to a binary "yes" or "no". There should be more options, or preferably a reconstruction of the whole question.
My type as always been the same since I was a kid and now a I'm turning 30 this year. Men with long hair, tattoos, general rockstar vibe. I don't care if they're slender, thicker feminine or masculine. Our personal tastes and experiences shape things much more than evolutionary claims.
I would always be careful with making any evolutionary psychology claims. Sexual behavior is highly influenced by society and the whole field just tends to form a conclusion based on certain tendencies and then usr those tendencies as support for their claim. It is mostly pseudoscience
You’re correct, but this also applies to virtually all the social sciences including economics. It doesn’t mean they’re necessarily wrong, just to be careful taking any conclusions as gospel truth. Evo psych gets overly harsh criticism vs the other social sciences, likely because of the potential overlap with HBD and because it steps on the toes of tabula rasa/blank slate theory which is absolutely haram in current society
It's kinda like how short shorts, moustaches, and styled mullets are "in" right now for "attractive" men. It's a trend that was big in the 80s, but died back down in the 90s and 2000s. We'll probably see the same shift in the 2030s.

I’m similar in that I loved kpop boy bands and members when I was 15 (e.g. Taemin from SHINee) and I’m now almost 29… but, I still find them attractive lol. The rat in the cage element isn’t discussed. Our idea of beauty distorted by media. I’ve found the level of self confidence in a person increases how attractive they are. If they have passion about what they do and have an open kind heart, they shine regardless of how they look. The majority of self-proclaimed heterosexual women in the study reported some amount of attraction to women? Would love to see the stats for straight men on this

@@ahmorganthis is why the lgbtq+ community often differentiates between multiple types of attraction. hahahaha yeah but i think a lot of “heterosexual” people that have some attraction to the same sex may just not be willing to be in an actual *relationship* with some with the same gender (for whatever reason) and it’s just easier to just explain that than to say you’re bisexual and wouldn’t be with a member of the same gender because at that point a lot of people would question if you actually count as bisexual.

(heterosexual/ bisexual/ homosexual), level of sexual attraction to women (1 = ‘not at all’ to 7 =
‘very’), level of sexual attraction to men (1 = ‘not at all’ to 7 = ‘very’), and variables known to
influence masculinity preferences (i.e., age, hormonal contraceptive use, relationship status,
sociosexual attitude, and own attractiveness), because controlling for them could be important to
uncovering the relationships of interest." so i guess if the numbers are for example 2 to 7 they are reported to that group, which makes sense.
the numbers were: "On the question of sexual attraction to men, 7.30% reported scores of 1
5, 20.60% reported a 6, and 72.10% reported a 7. On the question of sexual attraction to women,

So the majority of straight women are bisexual? Did I get that right? I don’t understand
I mean, yes, kind of, but not really? Most of people on the planet are somewhere on the spectrum of sexuality. It’s minority that’s 100% attracted to the opposite sex. Most of people have at least once in their life find a person of the same sex attractive. But this isn’t what this video is about.

@@ia285 In our society any affection between 2 men is seen as gay. Two women hugging is totally normal, even kissing between two girl friends is accteptable. Gay and bi men are treated worse then others, they get beaten up and hate crimed more then lesbians or bisexual women. I have seen so many ,,straight,, men online who like femboys, and argue they are still straight. It’s very obvious for me as why would men be less likely to admitt to ever being attracted to a man, especially If they are bi and they mostly like women. They are so many stories of not even bi, but GAY men who married women to be ,,normal,, so If a man is bi, he can easly live as a straight man, and never even feel bad in that marriage.

How are they heterosexual if they’re attracted to women? Are you telling me fully heterosexual women prefer men? And bisexual women prefer both? No effing way, who’d have thought such a crazy thing!
It's not about sexuality, it's about masculine and feminine. It's effectively saying that the more staunchly straight a woman is, the more likely they are to be androphilic. So, it's not necessarily that masculine women like feminine men, but that women who appreciate feminine men are the kind of women who don't feel so strongly about being straight. Being straight doesn't mean that you're utterly repulsed at the idea of having a vaguely erotic encounter with the same sex.
Most women r bi or pretend they r fr whatever reason
Since most women have some sort of attraction to women they just consider themselves straight. It’s not easy to find a woman who is 100% hetero.
@@WillGaylord False, straight mean you are repulsed at the idea of having sex or "erotic enconter" with someone of same sex. If you like the idea, you are not straight but bisexual. Truth of the matter is women will go for anything
I think its down to race as aswell. I noticed Older white women, south asian, indian, latinas, black women and insta baddies of all races on a large scale prefer bearded men. Almost all south east asian and black females prefer heavily bearded men . Younger white females below 30 usually prefer that boyish feminine look. I go uni and have had my fair share of women of all different ages and races and im bearded i am irresistible to the ethnic groups alot more mainly south east asian/indians they will only get with masculine looking guys. There's been studied on this, it shows women prefer either a little stubble or clean shaven more than full beards. And that's for all races. And by stubble I mean like a bit longer than 5 o'clock shadow.

Probably no, (East) Asians generally just have neotonous/baby-like faces, men or women.
In the IPSOS study, Japan, a country known for its pretty boys, literally has the smallest lgbt identification (only 1% homosexual and 1% bisexual), so despite the men often look so androgynous and the women are often attracted to androgynous men, they are actually comfortable in their sexuality unlike America 💀💀

as for women i'm into both feminine girls and masculine girls, no matter if they have a feminine or masculine kind of vibe
