Replacing Lochinvar Gas Valve

- I am replacing a gas valve on a Lochinvar boiler. I was here a few days earlier, and found that the gas valve faulty. Main control board sent 24vac power to the gas valve. The valve would not open to allow gas into burner. Here is a link to the previous service call. Troubleshoot Lochinvar Gas Valve : Flame Failure/ Ignition failure • Troubleshoot Lochinvar...
After replacing I test the new valve.
Good work, what a terrible design by the mfg. to half to go thru all that work to change a simple gas valve. Thanks for the video.
Hacker, you always amaze me with your skills !
Need to try the new nylon .
It doesn’t stain and if you get it on your clothes it washes out.
Nice video
Thanks for sharing
Great work
please do more on these boilers, thanks
That boiler needs a combustion analysis after a gas valve swap for sure. Those Dungs negative gas valves aren’t “factory” set. Fitting UA-cam name 🤪
I did a combustion test afterwards. I believe I mention it needed a combustion test. Yet to keep video shorter I excluded it. A combustion test is definitely needed. I do a combustion test every year when I do maintenance.
@@thehvachacker ok beg my pard..
If I was president I would pardon ya. I’m just a hvac guy. No power to pardon, no hard feelings. I would hope that noone would work on a high efficient boiler, or power flame without a combustion analyzer
Do you set the gas pressure on the actual gas valve?
@@SombraLocs No. This is a negative pressure gas valve. Valve opens under negative pressure the blower sucks the fuel into the air/gas Venturi that mixes to the burner. The combustion is set by adjusting air gas ratios / carbon dioxide/ 02 / CO excessive air etc. with a combustion analyzer.
Invest in a couple different strap wrenches, personally I would've used pipe wrenches with a cloth towel.

Clean work, what size are those red knipex pliers? 10 or 12”
Looks like a 10” and 12” both he had in his hand
👍
Good replacement Hackster ... 1st ... Lol ...
Is That a commercial knight boiler? I've installed many residential knight boilers the gas valves are pretty simple to replace. Why would they make it so complicated? I only use rector seal #5; if you use soap, it won't stain anything.🤣
Talk a about a complicated piece of garbage. I hate these goddamn things with all my might...
Looking at all that natural gas heating equipment helps appreciate why Obama's Secretary of Energy, Ernest Moniz (Doctorate in theoretical physics from Stanford) recently said that achieving net zero carbon emissions would cost over a hundred trillion dollars. Imagine replacing all that gas burning equipment with heat pumps with electric resistance heaters for when it gets really cold.
We are already seeing inflation at the service station pumps and grocery stores, from the trillions being spend and printed by the our current administration on that sort of fantasy junk, they think we are made of that type of money, but reality is, we are not.
