I have 2018 Lariat with the sport appearance package and 502a luxury package, among other options. The 5.0 V8 was very appealing and pushed me towards buying it
Yes, I think the Lariat is the sweet spot and that is what we bought. 2023 with 502A, 18 speaker B&O, deployable running boards, FX4, extended tank, 360 cam, Trailer tow package, 5.0, MSRP 73.5K Great vid!!!!
First off, the fact that it’s even possible for a near base model XLT to be $73k is a crime in of itself. Second, assuming that those options are only available on the Lariat and higher, I’d say it’s definitely worth spending the extra $4k but it still isn’t worth anywhere near $77k. To be honest, I think you spent 99% of the video, explaining why the Lariat is actually the best trim to get.
Right. I understand that a lot of these trims are "only as expensive as you option them to be"... but you can get a fully loaded Titan XD Platinum Reserve for $75k, or $70k if you settle for the 1/2 ton Titan... I don't care who you are, a Platinum Reserve Titan is a much nicer truck than an XLT F-150. Especially for the same money!
I think it’s worthless because you might as well go with the F150 platinum or king ranch, I don’t think anyone should get the lariat or xlt fully loaded, the more options you put on it the more you should just move up on trim level.
I just purchased a Lariat with 502A and all the package options (other than black appearance package) and couldn't be happier about my truck. For me, the extra options you get on the Lariat (compared to the XLT) were worth it and I don't have a single regret about my purchase. I love the heads up display, ventilated seats, projector headlights, daytime running lamps, rain-sensing wipers and all the other creature comforts on the Lariat + 502A. Everyone has their own preferences/needs for their truck and what they can afford. IF you can afford the Lariat, I highly recommend it.
Not anymore. With the Limited trim going away, the Lariat and XLT have been bumped up a bit to help fill the gap. Now people are moaning about the XLT isn’t the bang for your buck anymore and the STX is the new bang for your buck.
And I swear that my “ventilated” seats are actual air conditioning. No way they cool down that much without the A/C.I like the AWD option for sure. Especially when it has been hot for a few days then rains and gets slippery out…
Leather is the most important item on a truck for a family with kids/ dogs, the XLT has always had cloth so it is why the Lariat has always been my go to

XLT doesn’t offer leather seats! Also, the reason why the 3.5 is only a $90.00 option is because Ford wants to be able to claim lack of sales on the 5.0 as the reason for discontinuing it at their convenience. I become a GM buyer the day they discontinue the V8.
You can get leather in the XLT with the 303 package. A lot of people love the 2.7 and it's the 5.0 engines real competition. It's the reason why GM started putting a 2.7 in the Sierra and Silverado.

I recently purchased a '24 Lariat, so I'm biased, but I think it's the best trim. Even better than the KR and Platinum. The Lariat is the highest trim that can be ordered with the V8. Also, the Lariat can be ordered without the panoramic sunroof. The Lariat is also the highest trim that can be ordered with chrome bumpers, which are a must for driving on construction sites. IMO the Lariat is still a working-man's truck, unlike the KR and Platinum, which are for guys who want to pretend.

I had a 20 18 Lariet 502A and now have a 2023 XLT high package and I miss not having a heated steering wheel, and easy entry/exit where the seat automatically moves back for entry/exit, and I miss the super bright headlights on the Lariet. Here in Canada a Lariet vs XLT is a lot more $$$.
litteraly just bought my first brand new truck its a 23 lariat. 6 hours later youtube puts "why lariat is the worst trim package" damn aint gotta do me like that so fast
I have the 2024 Lariat FP700. It supposedly has the 5.0 Coyote. So, why did Ford go fugly on the Coyote? I was expecting the black and grey covers over the heads...disappointed there. Before having the Whipple installed, they wanted me to put 1K on the odometer, probably to get the piston rings "seated".
2023 crew/4wd/5.0 XLT in white with the 4x4 Sport decals heated off. $52K because I bought it Dec 2023 so $10K off sticker. This is all the trim I want. Big screen, day lights, fancy exterior lights, console shift, and dual ac.
Lariat 502A is my favorite trim. Most of the features of the upper trims without the flashiness. Sadly Ford dropped the power running board option from 502A for ‘24.
@@jon6387I don’t think the power boards are an option. I just ordered a 502 A black appearance pkg and they are just extended bars. Considering moving up to the Platinum to get them.
This is actually an advertisement for the Lariat trim, with a click bait title. Having said that, it is loaded with a lot of extra technology gimmicky stuff that will increase your long term maintenance costs, I can live without. But if it’s the only way to get a heated steering, power mirrors and remote start, I would pay up to get it. I use that extensively.
I bought a 2024 501A Lariat FX4 last week. Got the power boost, gray interior, and NO sunroof. I live in the desert SW, so sunroof and black interior means HOT, really HOT. I also got the Avalanche color (light gray). I got the 7.2 Pro power on board which is great for someone who tows (which I do). Tow/haul, Mobile Office and spray in bedliner. Wanted the bed utility package but I bought off the lot, so that is the only option I missed. MSRP was right at $71K. Lots of discounts off that right now. Most of the 2024 Lariats I was seeing had the black interior and panoramic sunroof.
Not sure if this is still the case but when I bought a lariat in 2018, that was the min trim level to get the A4wd, the xlt and below only had selectable.
I have a Lariat on order. Leaving my beloved Expedition because the rebates/incentives on the F150 are too good to pass up. However, I’m now leaning towards a Platinum but dislike not being able to go with the lower trim and add a sunroof. Not sure what to do now.
i purchased a 2023 xlt sport package with the black appearance package , my xlt has leather seats and a tremor hood ??? , why the tremor hood ? , i have never seen another f150 , except for the tremor with this hood .
I ordered a King Ranch and saw a space white a few days later... Wow color only available on a Lariat! Next day ordered a 502a space white with tan leather Loaded and didn't miss one option other than messaging seats compared to the King Ranch... Please lol the Lariat is the best trim period!
Lariat is the first trim level that lets you get auto 4WD - the cheapest truck you can get with it. So it's just the one to buy if you aren't getting a Tremor or Raptor and live where there is snow.
Isn’t there a lot more the lariat offers that an XLT doesn’t?? Power folding mirrors, optional heated rear seats, the upgraded LED taillights, memory seats
I’ve always bought at least the Lariat trim to specifically get power folding mirrors. Nobody wants to get out of the truck to fold in the right hand mirror to get into a tight spot.
The XLT has leather? Since when? 4A stands for auto, not “all the time” or “AWD”. Huge difference. Is the base Lariat now a chrome package? I don’t see a non chrome option other than BAP on the website.
Woah the lariat dash is not continuous like the xlt you showed? I thought when I saw the xlt video when I saw the dash that they finally corrected the lost space between the cluster and infotainment.
The biggest issue today is that Ford doesn't let you build a truck the way you want it. Everything is complicated and limited to certain trim levels or bundled into expensive packages where you only want 1 of the 6 things they bundled together. It wasn't that long ago when you could build a Supercrew with the longer bed, pick from a bunch of axle ratios and not be limited in which engine you can pick.
Do you have or can you get a 2024 or 2025 either an F-150 or F-250, that can seat 6, so I guess it would have to be a Super Cab. With a V-8 (No Turbos!!!). 4X4 - At least a 6-foot Box. Towing Mirrors. and Sliding Rear Window, so that if I need to carry a 12 foot piece of lumber, by running it into the Cab... Tow/Haul Package. Rapid Red Metallic. Either the Step Tailgate or the Split Door Tailgate. My 2022 F-150 Lariat has all that, except the Fancy Tailgate - My prior dealer - Fenton Ford Screwed Up the Order, otherwise I might be dealing with them on this new truck. Please contact me, if you can get me the truck, I'm looking for... I've learned to live without the fancy Tailgate... But the lack of the Sliding Rear Window would be a deal breaker! Dick B.
I like lariat but what i don't like is the door siding has a cloth material instead of leather which doesn't justify spending extra i would rather get the stx if you ask me.
Sadly, it is only available in a crew cab. So, if you still want to do pickup things with it, you are stuck with a really long truck. If I don’t want the really long truck, I have to stick with STX or XLT
I could not disagree more. It's the least costly trim with leather and auto AWD. It's also the least-costly trim in which you can get a black interior AND chrome trim, which old farts like me love.
The lariat used to be very relevant. It was the top trim level. You had 3 trim levels only. XL,XLT,XLT Lariat. In the last few years, Ford has added a few extra trim levels, which has made the Lariat less relevant. I know the 5.0 is standard, but to me, it's an option because I would pay extra to have it. I would pay extra to get a manual tranny also if it was an option.😢
Excellent Video. The Lariat is my Trim of choice. I am hoping it does not come with blue cruise, as i would like to install a three inch lift with 35 inch K02's. I know that if you do any lift on the higher trims, it negates the blue cruise?
You can lift with Blue Cruse. My Lariat is Leveled with 34.5s. A friend of mines Plat is lifted 4inches with 35s. Both have no issues with BC. In fact it has improved. No more sudden jerks. Steering smoother negotiating curves. ACC work the same.
@@neillepps1965 No problem, bro. So, just a little more info and advice. Both trucks did not have Blue Cruise re-calibrated. If for some reason you do need to have Blue Cruise re-calibrated, I highly recommend you go to a dealer to have a Ford tech do it. Both trucks did have the radar sensors for Adaptive Cruise Control adjusted. Only the vertical height needs adjusted. It is a simple screw adjustment, no computer calibration. Google the install instructions for the F150 Ford Performance Bilstein leveling kit, look at page 27. Starting on that page, it explains what needs to be done. If you install the lift/level yourself, the truck will of course need an alignment. The alignment shop should be able to follow the sensor realignment instructions in that manual mentioned above. If you choose to have a shop install a lift/level, they should also be able to follow the instructions to realign the sensor as well. Verify with the shop you choose before you agree to have work performed by them
Thanks again! That is Excellent advice! I feel a lot better about getting my 2024 Lariat. The Manuel would be a great help even if I get a reliable shop to do my lift. I really appreciate the advice!

The lights on the xlt black out package is the best by far imo
litteraly just bought my first brand new truck its a 23 lariat. 6 hours later youtube puts "why lariat is the worst trim package" damn aint gotta do me like that so fast
🤣of course !
You get power running boards with the black appearance package for the 24’.
@@jon6387I don’t think the power boards are an option. I just ordered a 502 A black appearance pkg and they are just extended bars. Considering moving up to the Platinum to get them.
@@lindahelton6421 You're right. I'm not sure why they got rid of them.
I have heard that the sunroofs are still having problems leaking and other issues. Not sure if I would order a sunroof for $1100- $1200
I just bought the 2024 lariat black appearance 3.5 powerboost 502a and I love everything about it
Rest in peace the color matched grills on the lariat sports. 2018-2020 were some of the best years ever made.
2019 STX is a AWESOME 1 OFF LEVEL GRILL.
2020 had bad transmissions.
The new STX is the best thing going in the truck kingdom "Truck-dom".
Not sure if this is still the case but when I bought a lariat in 2018, that was the min trim level to get the A4wd, the xlt and below only had selectable.
XL v8 SC for me . Problem is that I have 2 of those.
So Mitchell I would like a upgrade to a 2024 soon
I have a Lariat on order. Leaving my beloved Expedition because the rebates/incentives on the F150 are too good to pass up. However, I’m now leaning towards a Platinum but dislike not being able to go with the lower trim and add a sunroof.
Not sure what to do now.
No heated seats on rear ???
Does the XLT come with leather seats?
Very good and informative video. Easy to understand thank you for the info, brother.
i purchased a 2023 xlt sport package with the black appearance package , my xlt has leather seats and a tremor hood ??? , why the tremor hood ? , i have never seen another f150 , except for the tremor with this hood .
I would be curious if the mechanics at your dealership would still pick the 5.0 over the eco boost?
I ordered a King Ranch and saw a space white a few days later... Wow color only available on a Lariat! Next day ordered a 502a space white with tan leather Loaded and didn't miss one option other than messaging seats compared to the King Ranch... Please lol the Lariat is the best trim period!
My 2021 Lariat is amazing. Has something changed? Mine is loaded to the max.
Love the chrome package!
When a YT"uber tells me i need to watch *all the way through" the video to find out answers from the click bait title, i end thr video right there.
My 2020 Lariat has ventilated and cooled seats. Do you mean this is the first time it has ventilated ever, or the first time for the 14th gen f150?
Lariat is the first trim level that lets you get auto 4WD - the cheapest truck you can get with it. So it's just the one to buy if you aren't getting a Tremor or Raptor and live where there is snow.
Most people lease these. This is the best trim to lease. The numbers make sense. It’s the best trim in my opinion
I BOUGHT THE 2019 STX and i am fine with it. it is a work truck. $39K candn, but NOW it is $68K FFS FORD give us a break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve noticed on some of the window stickers. It says auto stop start delete -$50. Does that mean you can actually order a truck without that nonsense?
it means there was a chip shortage when it was built so they excluded the feature
I want the lariat because you get the 5.0 with a lot of the luxury features
What’s the leadtime for a custom order platinum plus?
wish you had a wheel dimming switch for night driving the glares a lot with the +/- not as good for media screen and dash
Isn’t there a lot more the lariat offers that an XLT doesn’t?? Power folding mirrors, optional heated rear seats, the upgraded LED taillights, memory seats
The 502A group doesn't give you max recline.
Heated and cooled seats on lariat?
Sounded like a sales pitch to me, not a pitch on how the Lariat trim level was useless.
Made you look! 👀😂
Yes. Typical car dealer clickbait. Not one piece of valuable information in this video.
It’s just too expensive now at 79k.
I want the XLT and I want electric fold in mirrors..????
Love the xlt trim levels. Wish you could option the 4Auto on xlt but you need lariat trim to get that.
I watched this video and the one on the 2024 Platinum. Are you doing one on the 2024 King Ranch?
In my experience, you'll get quite a bit more resale value with Lariat. Even if compared to an XLT with the exact same options.
I’ve always bought at least the Lariat trim to specifically get power folding mirrors. Nobody wants to get out of the truck to fold in the right hand mirror to get into a tight spot.
Or out of the car wash in the winter!🥶🥶
Freezing while walking around to flip it back out.
Any trim above XLT is useless as a truck since you can’t get a standard size bed.
The XLT has leather? Since when?
4A stands for auto, not “all the time” or “AWD”. Huge difference.
Is the base Lariat now a chrome package? I don’t see a non chrome option other than BAP on the website.
That bedliner looks gorgeous. You don't normally get a nice finish like that. Is it factory?
Are you going to do the f-250 trim level ?
Woah the lariat dash is not continuous like the xlt you showed? I thought when I saw the xlt video when I saw the dash that they finally corrected the lost space between the cluster and infotainment.
Well done video sir!! Thank you!
Should the post on the rear step not be to the right hand side? Most people are right handed.
I’m right handed and like the post on the left. Maybe because I am trying to push myself up with my right at the same time..🤪
It’s a great trim. Although I opted for the king ranch when I bought mine. Few more features
Been looking at new trucks and for the price of a crew cab lariat 150. I can get a crewcab powerstroke 250 as-well. So why buy a 150?
4A and folding mirrors are the options I really miss
Love my 2023 Lariat, Love It
The biggest issue today is that Ford doesn't let you build a truck the way you want it.
I just wish I could still order the lariat with a 6th seat.
Do the tail light fit the 2023?
It's a Ford. The tail lights may not fit anything.
I could not disagree more. It's the least costly trim with leather and auto AWD. It's also the least-costly trim in which you can get a black interior AND chrome trim, which old farts like me love.
Love my Lariat Powerboost F150!
Hey no fake hood vents.
@@junkbox93 Thank you.
@@neillepps1965
No problem, bro.
Please do a King Ranch F-250
Lariat is Much nicer than the XLT and has a whole different front end that only the platnium offers. The new lariats are the new platnium and the new platinums are the new limited. That’s the easiest way to put it
Brand well Pops had an XLT Lariat the trim levels can be confusing on packages in the past looking at a King Ranch F-250 Diesel on line w tremor pack on and on. . Smorgasbord of things. like add ons list limited plat trims if you can customize and not break it.. I want that monster truck
So, no more 2.4L EcoBoost? 😮
