I have 2018 Lariat with the sport appearance package and 502a luxury package, among other options. The 5.0 V8 was very appealing and pushed me towards buying it
I just purchased a Lariat with 502A and all the package options (other than black appearance package) and couldn't be happier about my truck. For me, the extra options you get on the Lariat (compared to the XLT) were worth it and I don't have a single regret about my purchase. I love the heads up display, ventilated seats, projector headlights, daytime running lamps, rain-sensing wipers and all the other creature comforts on the Lariat + 502A. Everyone has their own preferences/needs for their truck and what they can afford. IF you can afford the Lariat, I highly recommend it.
First off, the fact that it’s even possible for a near base model XLT to be $73k is a crime in of itself. Second, assuming that those options are only available on the Lariat and higher, I’d say it’s definitely worth spending the extra $4k but it still isn’t worth anywhere near $77k. To be honest, I think you spent 99% of the video, explaining why the Lariat is actually the best trim to get.
Right. I understand that a lot of these trims are "only as expensive as you option them to be"... but you can get a fully loaded Titan XD Platinum Reserve for $75k, or $70k if you settle for the 1/2 ton Titan... I don't care who you are, a Platinum Reserve Titan is a much nicer truck than an XLT F-150. Especially for the same money!
I think it’s worthless because you might as well go with the F150 platinum or king ranch, I don’t think anyone should get the lariat or xlt fully loaded, the more options you put on it the more you should just move up on trim level.
Yes, I think the Lariat is the sweet spot and that is what we bought. 2023 with 502A, 18 speaker B&O, deployable running boards, FX4, extended tank, 360 cam, Trailer tow package, 5.0, MSRP 73.5K Great vid!!!!
Not anymore. With the Limited trim going away, the Lariat and XLT have been bumped up a bit to help fill the gap. Now people are moaning about the XLT isn’t the bang for your buck anymore and the STX is the new bang for your buck.
And I swear that my “ventilated” seats are actual air conditioning. No way they cool down that much without the A/C.I like the AWD option for sure. Especially when it has been hot for a few days then rains and gets slippery out…
The Lariat 502a is the best spec imo. Why? It is the only way to get a luxury truck that isn't gaudy or pretentious. Though the new Lariat is nice, I do think the 21-23 is a much better looking truck.

Leather is the most important item on a truck for a family with kids/ dogs, the XLT has always had cloth so it is why the Lariat has always been my go to
4A isn't All Wheel Drive aka AWD. It's Automatic 4WD. Works similar to a LSD, Limited Slip Differential. 4A locks the hubs which turns the front axles, pumpkin & front driveshaft. When slippage is detected the transfer case engages the front driveshaft making it 4WD till wheel slippage is corrected.
For us who live where there is a winter, the 4Auto is the feature which make the lariat valuable, if that option was on the XLT Trim level then you would be correct.
cant believe thats just becoming a thing for Ford....GM has had 4wd auto for every trim for awhile and are the only ones to have it on HD trucks.....seems insane in 2024
4wd auto uses an electronically controlled clutch in the transfer case to engage the front axle when the computer senses rear wheel slip. Works great until it doesn’t. Costs more, too.
@@austinhogan5216You can just change it to 4WD. You just wear it out faster because it’s not meant to be driven at speeds above 30. Hence why they have AWD module. To save the transfer. Thats why trucks that blow transfer cases are always the lower models. People drive around in bad weather with them all the time. The higher end trims use the smart AWD because it does it automatically, so it saves fuel and transfer case.

Love the explanation of the missing engine covers.. ‘little things that drive down cost’ Funny, every year consistently the price goes UP by 4 to 5 grand. Damn near choked on my coffee over that one.
I have the 2024 Lariat FP700. It supposedly has the 5.0 Coyote. So, why did Ford go fugly on the Coyote? I was expecting the black and grey covers over the heads...disappointed there. Before having the Whipple installed, they wanted me to put 1K on the odometer, probably to get the piston rings "seated".
A 400 watt outlet is essentially useless. The only thing I would be plugging into the truck bed is a table saw or chop saw, so I'd need a 15 amp/1800 watt outlet.

That's all I buy is Lariats. It's that perfect price point with all the options I need. I love my 502A Powerboost and I'll continue to buy them. I love that differentiate the Lariats and XLT's now!
Just bought a new 23 Lariat two weeks ago. So far I love it. I didn't want to go back to a full sized truck, but the room in the back for my working K9 and the fact it will idle, forever, while locked, with the AC on, was a deal maker. I do wish I could shut that 30 minute idle off permanently, but at least it can be shut off. The door code buttons are something else I really like. Last new Ford was 1974. The price has sure gone up ! LOL
Two inaccuracies. XLTs do have rain sensing wipers (at least my '21 does). 4A is not AWD as most people interpret it. It's 4 auto. When the tires slip, a clutch engages the front axle. 4a also engages the front wheel via the IWE all the time.

XLT doesn’t offer leather seats! Also, the reason why the 3.5 is only a $90.00 option is because Ford wants to be able to claim lack of sales on the 5.0 as the reason for discontinuing it at their convenience. I become a GM buyer the day they discontinue the V8.
You can get leather in the XLT with the 303 package. A lot of people love the 2.7 and it's the 5.0 engines real competition. It's the reason why GM started putting a 2.7 in the Sierra and Silverado.
I bought a 2024 501A Lariat FX4 last week. Got the power boost, gray interior, and NO sunroof. I live in the desert SW, so sunroof and black interior means HOT, really HOT. I also got the Avalanche color (light gray). I got the 7.2 Pro power on board which is great for someone who tows (which I do). Tow/haul, Mobile Office and spray in bedliner. Wanted the bed utility package but I bought off the lot, so that is the only option I missed. MSRP was right at $71K. Lots of discounts off that right now. Most of the 2024 Lariats I was seeing had the black interior and panoramic sunroof.
Lariat 502A is my favorite trim. Most of the features of the upper trims without the flashiness. Sadly Ford dropped the power running board option from 502A for ‘24.
@@jon6387I don’t think the power boards are an option. I just ordered a 502 A black appearance pkg and they are just extended bars. Considering moving up to the Platinum to get them.
Lariat is the first trim level that lets you get auto 4WD - the cheapest truck you can get with it. So it's just the one to buy if you aren't getting a Tremor or Raptor and live where there is snow.
i purchased a 2023 xlt sport package with the black appearance package , my xlt has leather seats and a tremor hood ??? , why the tremor hood ? , i have never seen another f150 , except for the tremor with this hood .
Dude you totally forgot one of the main differences between the XLT and Lariat: the heated steering wheel. Kind of a big deal or those of us in colder climates.
The lariat used to be very relevant. It was the top trim level. You had 3 trim levels only. XL,XLT,XLT Lariat. In the last few years, Ford has added a few extra trim levels, which has made the Lariat less relevant. I know the 5.0 is standard, but to me, it's an option because I would pay extra to have it. I would pay extra to get a manual tranny also if it was an option.😢
Not sure if this is still the case but when I bought a lariat in 2018, that was the min trim level to get the A4wd, the xlt and below only had selectable.
Useless? Not really. . .I've got a '22 Lariat, and the only it doesn't have is the HUD . . I had an XLT and if I optioned it would have cost 4K more. The Lariat had those plus a few more (Lariat only) for the same price. No brainer!
I had a 20 18 Lariet 502A and now have a 2023 XLT high package and I miss not having a heated steering wheel, and easy entry/exit where the seat automatically moves back for entry/exit, and I miss the super bright headlights on the Lariet. Here in Canada a Lariet vs XLT is a lot more $$$.
I have a Lariat on order. Leaving my beloved Expedition because the rebates/incentives on the F150 are too good to pass up. However, I’m now leaning towards a Platinum but dislike not being able to go with the lower trim and add a sunroof. Not sure what to do now.
The XLT has leather? Since when? 4A stands for auto, not “all the time” or “AWD”. Huge difference. Is the base Lariat now a chrome package? I don’t see a non chrome option other than BAP on the website.
I ordered a King Ranch and saw a space white a few days later... Wow color only available on a Lariat! Next day ordered a 502a space white with tan leather Loaded and didn't miss one option other than messaging seats compared to the King Ranch... Please lol the Lariat is the best trim period!
Lariat is the trim that most buyers are targeting King ranch and platinum are almost the same price Platinum+ is even more expensive Some people want some extra features that don’t come on a XLT
I’ve always bought at least the Lariat trim to specifically get power folding mirrors. Nobody wants to get out of the truck to fold in the right hand mirror to get into a tight spot.
I like this red Ford Lariat. What’s it going to cost me way out here in western Washington? I know you’re in Alabama. Also I love the chrome including the wheels.
Woah the lariat dash is not continuous like the xlt you showed? I thought when I saw the xlt video when I saw the dash that they finally corrected the lost space between the cluster and infotainment.
Isn’t there a lot more the lariat offers that an XLT doesn’t?? Power folding mirrors, optional heated rear seats, the upgraded LED taillights, memory seats
Sadly, it is only available in a crew cab. So, if you still want to do pickup things with it, you are stuck with a really long truck. If I don’t want the really long truck, I have to stick with STX or XLT
Lariat is Much nicer than the XLT and has a whole different front end that only the platnium offers. The new lariats are the new platnium and the new platinums are the new limited. That’s the easiest way to put it
I think a fully loaded XLT or Lariat are worthless because you might as well go with the F150 platinum or king ranch, I don’t think anyone should get the lariat or xlt fully loaded, the more options you put on it the more you should just move up on trim level.
I could not disagree more. It's the least costly trim with leather and auto AWD. It's also the least-costly trim in which you can get a black interior AND chrome trim, which old farts like me love.
You always create good content...sometimes I wish you would not try with the "clickbait" angle. It worked....I had not priced a 2024 F-150...currently have a 2020 King Ranch 5.0. Yes...the Lariat is worth it...because as others have said...the highest trim the 5.0 is available. So...I guess if GM can endure...might have to get a GMC next time with a V-8. Had one EcoBoost....don't want another. It was either Eco (not very Eco) or Boost....and the way I drive...it was usually Boost...which means my 5.0 gets better mileage than the EcoBoost Did.

You can get leather in the XLT with the 303 package. A lot of people love the 2.7 and it's the 5.0 engines real competition. It's the reason why GM started putting a 2.7 in the Sierra and Silverado.
Exactly!
I have heard that the sunroofs are still having problems leaking and other issues. Not sure if I would order a sunroof for $1100- $1200
XL v8 SC for me . Problem is that I have 2 of those.
So Mitchell I would like a upgrade to a 2024 soon
Lariat 502A is my favorite trim. Most of the features of the upper trims without the flashiness. Sadly Ford dropped the power running board option from 502A for ‘24.
You get power running boards with the black appearance package for the 24’.
@@jon6387I don’t think the power boards are an option. I just ordered a 502 A black appearance pkg and they are just extended bars. Considering moving up to the Platinum to get them.
@@lindahelton6421 You're right. I'm not sure why they got rid of them.
Love the chrome package!
I would be curious if the mechanics at your dealership would still pick the 5.0 over the eco boost?
Lariat is the first trim level that lets you get auto 4WD - the cheapest truck you can get with it. So it's just the one to buy if you aren't getting a Tremor or Raptor and live where there is snow.
i purchased a 2023 xlt sport package with the black appearance package , my xlt has leather seats and a tremor hood ??? , why the tremor hood ? , i have never seen another f150 , except for the tremor with this hood .
Most people lease these. This is the best trim to lease. The numbers make sense. It’s the best trim in my opinion
Dude you totally forgot one of the main differences between the XLT and Lariat: the heated steering wheel.
Kind of a big deal or those of us in colder climates.
It’s not a big deal having to have the heated steering wheel, I live in a quite cold state and don’t need gloves till it’s down to 10 deg or below
Getting rid of the hideous "Coast 2 Coast" grille is worth $4,000. Chrome is King!
crazy that its 75k with decent options
The lariat used to be very relevant. It was the top trim level. You had 3 trim levels only. XL,XLT,XLT Lariat. In the last few years, Ford has added a few extra trim levels, which has made the Lariat less relevant.
I know the 5.0 is standard, but to me, it's an option because I would pay extra to have it. I would pay extra to get a manual tranny also if it was an option.😢
My 2020 Lariat has ventilated and cooled seats. Do you mean this is the first time it has ventilated ever, or the first time for the 14th gen f150?
What’s the leadtime for a custom order platinum plus?
Not sure if this is still the case but when I bought a lariat in 2018, that was the min trim level to get the A4wd, the xlt and below only had selectable.
I’ve noticed on some of the window stickers. It says auto stop start delete -$50. Does that mean you can actually order a truck without that nonsense?
it means there was a chip shortage when it was built so they excluded the feature
Useless? Not really. . .I've got a '22 Lariat, and the only it doesn't have is the HUD .
My 2021 Lariat is amazing. Has something changed? Mine is loaded to the max.
Lariat is the trim that most buyers are targeting
King ranch and platinum are almost the same price
Platinum+ is even more expensive
Some people want some extra features that don’t come on a XLT
The 502A group doesn't give you max recline.
Engine covers are important for engine reliability. Ford should not have deleted them.
Lariat is one of my favorite trims.
I want the XLT and I want electric fold in mirrors..????
I’ve always bought at least the Lariat trim to specifically get power folding mirrors. Nobody wants to get out of the truck to fold in the right hand mirror to get into a tight spot.
Or out of the car wash in the winter!🥶🥶
Freezing while walking around to flip it back out.
I like this red Ford Lariat. What’s it going to cost me way out here in western Washington? I know you’re in Alabama. Also I love the chrome including the wheels.
Hi. Is normal to pay 99 000 $ for Lariat 5.0 V8 Black Edition FX4 502A B&O 18spk, panorama ..... car built on april 2023 ??? Price for Europe.
Woah the lariat dash is not continuous like the xlt you showed? I thought when I saw the xlt video when I saw the dash that they finally corrected the lost space between the cluster and infotainment.
Prices definitely didn’t decline with their 1500 parts savings.
Isn’t there a lot more the lariat offers that an XLT doesn’t?? Power folding mirrors, optional heated rear seats, the upgraded LED taillights, memory seats
That bedliner looks gorgeous. You don't normally get a nice finish like that. Is it factory?
I'll definitely prefer f150 lariat for sure 😉
I know you would prefer it, but would you actually spend that kind of money for it..I wouldn’t but that’s me
Sadly, it is only available in a crew cab. So, if you still want to do pickup things with it, you are stuck with a really long truck. If I don’t want the really long truck, I have to stick with STX or XLT
wish you had a wheel dimming switch for night driving the glares a lot with the +/- not as good for media screen and dash
It’s a great trim. Although I opted for the king ranch when I bought mine. Few more features
Should the post on the rear step not be to the right hand side? Most people are right handed.
I’m right handed and like the post on the left. Maybe because I am trying to push myself up with my right at the same time..🤪
Front end is looking more minivan-like
When I first saw it, it reminded me of the Family Truckster from the movie Vacation.
I watched this video and the one on the 2024 Platinum. Are you doing one on the 2024 King Ranch?
The best trim for 2024, because you get a fully loaded truck with a V8
Love the xlt trim levels. Wish you could option the 4Auto on xlt but you need lariat trim to get that.
I just got one with all the options and the 5.0 engine for $86,373 I have the fastest truck on my block baby
Watch out for those 2.7 slayers…
I just wish I could still order the lariat with a 6th seat.
Heated and cooled seats on lariat?
Yeah slap a 3.0L supercharger on that coyote and game over for any of the engine options.
I actually like the XLT grille better :)
Lariat is Much nicer than the XLT and has a whole different front end that only the platnium offers. The new lariats are the new platnium and the new platinums are the new limited. That’s the easiest way to put it
Please do a King Ranch F-250
Ford has too many options. Need to simplify . Pushed the XLT to a lariat trim.
Heck yes it’s worth $4000 extra.
Been looking at new trucks and for the price of a crew cab lariat 150. I can get a crewcab powerstroke 250 as-well. So why buy a 150?
Are you going to do the f-250 trim level ?
