Yeah there are 3 Ford Dealerships within 50 miles of where I live and all of them, without exception, are packed with vehicles and completely full lots
Hi, I'm the wife in question, it's true. Two days ago I had to rearrange the lot to try and puzzle piece MORE new inventory, while we still have plenty new stock. And as a result we have a very limited used vehicle selection.
@@kenzier.225 I just don’t understand how Ford or any other manufacturer expects the dealers to sell vehicles when most people are priced out entirely. The average household income in America is like $80,000. Some vehicles are significantly more than that. Unreal
@@jordanainsworth5589 it's a valid concern, profit margin is being abused at the corporate level, out of the dealers control. Our dealer is not allowed to go above "MSRP" for the vehicles unless they're special edition vehicles. And interest rates on used vehicles are predatory as well, I've seen interest rates on used vehicles as high as 30%..
Sooooo true. Paint and clear coat that gets chip damage your first trip on the freeway because they are sprayed too thin. Low quality interior materials with poor durability.
I’ve worked in large corporations for decades. Failure of these organizations can be easily tracked to executive bonuses and the failure of strategy in favor the short term bonus chasing by these Ivy League MBA quick buck artists.
The EPA gets a big chunk of the blame. They have made it insanely expensive to develop powertrains that meet all the requirements created by people that want internal combustion engines to go extinct.
Anyone who has worked in "large corporations" in a role of any relevance wouldn't make a statement like that. Very few execs in automotive hold an MBA from an IVY league school. In fact, they tend to defer to universities that specialize in these industries. Also, for the past two decades most MBA programs have taught extensively on long-term strategy and dedicate extensive coursework to it. You clearly watch too many movies and do not hold an MBA. Most auto manufacturers are looking at a ten year road map on a weekly basis.
@@afellowinnewengland6142 Mulally, Barra, Farley etc all hold credentials from Stanford, MIT, Georgetown, etc. Why would an automotive executive go to Harvard or Yale?
The new Ram trucks just horrible. Quality seems to be non-existent. Selantis/Chrysler doesn't stand behind anything they build. This is just my opinion so take it for what it's worth.
There is also the attitudes of the dealerships that keep me away. I was looking at the Maverick Tremor and asked to test drive and was told no. After 10-15min of peering through the window, a salesman comes up to me, says nothing and drives the Maverick away from me. Perhaps they were already in the middle of selling it but I'm not sure. I just decided that day that it's just not the time to buy. I had 10k down-payment and 17k trade, but I never tell the salesman that. I prefer to see how they treat me without knowing what I can afford.
It's not just Ford. Every major American company is operating that way. Disney no longer makes a profit, because it no longer makes movies and products for kids. Ford is a car company that no longer makes cars. This is all happened in the last 4 years of Biden/Democrats being in the White, abd forcing the Woke/DEI Agenda of failure on America's companies. While leaving the borders unprotected in a time of war with Russia? Americans better wake up to this threat. America's enemies have walked into America because of the open borders. And have infiltrated the country through politics and businesses. CEO's are failing their companies, but are not removed and replaced with competent people? For years losing money? But say they will not change so the company can be profitable? They refuse to give the customers what they want and ask for? Ford is a car company, but under Farley no longer makes cars? It's happening everywhere. It's not coincidence because people like Farley are not that ignorant. Just promises of riches for selling out to America's enemies. It's too prevelant to be simply coincidence. Hopefully America wakes up or there won't be an America in a decade. America's enemies are here because of the open borders. Why wouldn't they be with no one to stop them?
Since when do Salesmen at Car Dealerships not try to sell cars? It's a commission based job? Everything is becoming opposite of what it should be. And companies are going to go broke because of it. Companies no longer care about making a profit? I believe your comment sadly. Even though it defies explanation, because it is happening not at just your local dealership, but every dealership. And not just Ford but Chrysler too. Take care, and hope this madness ends soon for everyone's sake. And hope you can find ya a good slightly used truck, and save some money too. Peace.

I bought my 2007 F150 in 2010 with 30k miles on it for $16,000. The truck still runs great at 130k miles on it and I can work on it myself! I'm going to keep this tuck until the wheels fall off!
That’s funny cause people buying new vehicles in the mid 2000s said the same thing….”I like the 80s and 90s vehicles cause I can work on them myself…..these new fangled vehicles are junk”
So right, a lot of good cars were turned in for “cash” just to be ruined thanks to Obumbo an demorats! Yet people are so stupid to still vote for them. I still think this is a plot to force Americans to go to public transportation!
Last new truck I bought was in 2016...$44.8K...I thought I was a real baller...loved it...great quality...no issues.....now 120K miles, no issues still, paid for...NO WAY can I ever afford to replace it!!!!!!!
My last new 'truck' (Ridgeline) was loaded and $30k in 2012. Paid off years ago and not interested in paying, literally, more for new truck than for my first house.
F150 trucks USED TO have a real 8 foot bed, great for transporting 4x8 sheets of plywood! NOW because they decided to make the cab 4 doors and shrink the bed to 6 feet makes it useless for single people who work in the construction industry.
That’s not the core market anymore though. It’s the white collar guys buying pick ups. Even the single construction guys don’t want regular cab, 8 ft bed basic trucks anymore. All the new ones I see are nice crew cabs with big wheels and low profile (for a truck) tires.
@@auntiefiat9769 Agree with you but finding a decent used one seems more difficult nowadays as people tend to use things harder these days and dont always maintain them as they should. Looked at 2020-2021 Tundras, but to find a good one with low miles brought you close to 55k and then you need to make sure they just changed the oil frequently and did not go the 10k as per the owners manual.
Feature creep also keeps increasing insurance costs... bumpers and mirrors are thousands $$$ now because of so many sensors and lights and power this and that, every minor accident is a massive claim. It's nuts.
Yeah talk about it. My 79 Subaru got T-boned and bent in the passenger fender, bent the frame, bent the wheel, broke a knuckle and an axle. It cost $1800 to fix including shipping the only fender I could find from New Mexico to Massachusetts, shipping the wheel from PA to MA, getting a knuckle from New Hampshire, new ball joint, new axle, frame repair, etc. $1800 including labor. The guy that crashed into me? $5500 for minor damage to his bumper on his 07 Acura RDX that caused no drivability issues. Absolutely insane what it costs to fix these newer cars when major damage repair on a rare, 45 year old car cost significantly less.
Its a catch 22. Insurance is extra because all the parts cost so much, but they charge you even more if you don’t have the safety feature that make the parts more expensive.
Corporate greed and price gouging is largely to blame for inflation. Inflation goes up 3%, so businesses raise their price 6%. Proof is that many businesses are making record profits - those that can get away with it.
Which are making record profits? Air bnb is losing, home depot is losing, car brands are losing sales, hell even McDonalds and Dollar tree are experiencing a decline in year over year revenue
@michaelfranks341 he used percentages muppet...cost of living always goes up but that doesn't mean you can just charge 3k more every year. Inflation hasn't matched car price increases since pre pandemic and corporate greed has never been higher
A v6 turbo charged, direct injected ego boost is going to cost someone a fortune when it gets 100k miles on it. Especially if you’re changing the oil at 7500k miles or more. Labor and parts are so expensive these days, people can’t afford to fix their cars, even if they’re still making payments. Vehicles are too expensive. Some people say wages are too low but I don’t know about that. If wages went up, the price of everything else would go up and we’d be right where we are now. We’re getting fucked is what’s happening
I'll openly admit the tech has come a long way in the last decade, but you cannot defy the laws of physics. Those parts spin at insanely high speeds and generate a LOT of heat My wife has a Ford Edge ST and those turbo's are packed in so tight (with little to no ventilation) it's unbelievable and obvious they only cared if it got out of the warranty period. I personally wouldn't keep a turbo charged vehicle for more than 75K. After that you are just on borrowed time. The simple solution is to stick with N/A. I wish that wasn't the case as turbo's really do pack a whallop in terms of boosting power but the eventual outcome just isn't worth it.

There is a massive need for just a cheap reliable 'Work' pickup truck. In the 80s and 90s they were everywhere. They came with crank windows, rubber mats, manual door locks and the biggest thing that you wanted in a work truck was a radio, A/C and a cup holder. That was all you needed. A pickup truck now is like driving a Cadillac in the 90s and you don't need all that stuff for a work truck. (people in the trades)
@@gags730I sold my pretty much loaded f250 lariat last year. I bought a 2003 Chevy k15 short bed, regular cab. Manual locks and windows, ac, 4.3 motor, 43k miles and in pristine condition. It’s a great truck.
When I was growing up, trucks were work vehicles. Nobody had one that wasnt for work, then the 70s came along and they became lifestyle vehicles, pretty girls with cowboy hats were on the pick up truck commersials, and eventually there were luxury trucks, people wanted more for their truck dollar. Now you get a truck for what you pay for your mortgage payment, and crazily, theyre still selling, for now.
Umm...well not everyone wants or likes the same type of liner..I for one DON'T want a standard liner in the bed. Sounds like you're not the target market.
@@afellowinnewengland6142 I'd imagine if you asked someone who was buying a truck if they wanted a bed liner most would say yes even if they rarely put stuff back there because when you do it's going to f the paint all up. Every truck I see out there had a bed liner in it including my truck. The only reason why trucks don't come with one is money. They want you to check the box and pay an extra 500-1500 for one. Even if they put like a all weather type floor mat in there that covered just the bottom and was easily removable would perfectly fine.
@@CoopaCoop What you don't understand is there are many different types of bed liners. I don't want a standard liner because I'm not likely to prefer what they use. Some people want removable plastic style, some want spray on, some folks install equipment racks and trays and don't want the liner in the way, etc. Sometimes people prefer the price and brand of an aftermarket option. Just because YOU think something should be a certain way doesn't mean the rest of us want it.
When i bought my tremor I told them to throw in a tonneau cover and bedliner and they did without too much haggling, Just ask - theyre gonna throw in a few accessories to make the sale - otherwise ill go to the other ford dealer up the road.
The Ford Ranger is wildly popular in Thailand. But the number one truck in Thailand is still the Toyota Hilux Turbo Diesel, with no stupid DEF system. I wish I could buy one in the US.
The ridiculous over pricing and unnecessary features will end quickly if consumers just simply stop buying the products. Buy older used vehicles and maintain them properly.
It's the people's fault for trashing companies that were modest in the interiors and trims levels. The reason the Ford and Ram truck lineups are so abscenely expensive is because they got into a tit-for-tat to see who could come out with the most luxury focused trim with the highest price tag. Ford with the Limited trim and Ram with the Tungsten trim. Half-ton trucks that pushed prices to new record highs and every trim level below those trims jumped up in price. That's why a crappy XLT stickers for $60k and a Laramie is $65k.
It makes me sad that we as people have become such cattle.. we get herded into which camp is better. I can tell you that as a blue-collar worker, results speak for themselves. Our company has used Chevrolet product for decades, and we absolutely abuse them. However, they just keep going. The truth is most manufacturers would, the reason I say that is because when we break one, we just get it fixed. It wouldn't matter what brand it is. We have had some heavy duty Ford's, blew the transmissions in those, and we just fix them and keep using them till eventually all of them have too many miles and we send them all to auction. The reality is buy what you like. You will take care of it, fix it, and enjoy it because it is what you wanted and like. The truth is they all have problems. Just cross your fingers you don't happen to get the lemon from the batch. Life is too short to act like your vehicle is better than the next. I still see 50 year old Fords and Chevy's on the road. That tells me when you love it, you will take care of it.
I keep seeing videos like this claiming Ford, Dodge, Jeep, etc. are too expensive and the brands are going down. I agree the prices are ridiculously high, but I live in GA and see the roads full of these overpriced vehicles. I just wonder how they can afford it?
That's the thing. They can't afford them. What is happening now is banks are extending loans at linger terms like the gentleman above me said. You can afford 70k payment if it's stretched over 8 years. 70k before interes and down-payment would be 729 (still too high in my opinion) but over the life of the loan you're more than likely paying double 70k. If banks stopped lending at these extended rates you'd see a massive crash in the market. But you know how it goes. The government props the banks and hedge funds and other corporations to stop crashes by bailing them out and making lending standards longer My opinion is after 3 to 4 years of driving every day your gonna get screwed with a massive mechanic bill as cars inevitably wear and tear over time. The more crap the crambn into these vehicles the longer it takes to fix them and making them complicated racks up labor hours. In the end you will see at some point a major crash because this isn't sustainable.
@@razial1000 And how many will keep the vehicle for 8 years? My guess very few so they will up upside-down and so far in debt. I tend to keep my vehicle for 10 years or more. That doesn't mean I want to pay on it for 8 years. I like not having a payment after 4 or 5 years.

In 2005, the price of a Ford F-150 varied depending on the model, trim level, and options. On average, the base model of a Ford F-150 started around $18,000 to $20,000. However, higher-end models and trims, such as the Lariat or King Ranch, could cost upwards of $30,000 to $40,000 or more, depending on the configuration and additional features.
I've heard that the Ranger isn't selling well, from dealers. For the price difference people are buying the f 150. I rode in a friend's ranger felt like a sardine in a can. He felt the same way and went traded it in after 1 year for full size. I see more Mavericks on the road than rangers.
In 2014 I was looking for a new small truck and really wanted a Ranger. Rangers were overpriced then, They were out of my budget. I settled for a Nissan frontier which was also overpriced IMO.
The F-150 'two door' is actually a 4 door Supercab with bonus longer front doors than the Crewcab version. Plenty of storage space in the rear seat area. I removed the rear seats to carry camping gear, a fridge and power station etc. Perfect truck cab size for a single guy with a dog (me) or adventurous family without kids. Usually means a longer, more useful box as well. Similar design to the Ram quad cab or much smaller Tacoma access cab. The Supercab is not only less money but far more practical for many of us truck owners. I ordered a close to base Supercab XLT FX4 in 22 for 35K and no problams or recalls, it's been a great truck. But I could never afford the crazy prices now.

Ford is a car company that has made cars for 120 years. Yet, Jim Farley comes up with the brilliant idea that Ford should no longer manufacture cars. Even though the mid-size car market is up 20% in 2024. How can you be a car company and not make cars? How can Jim Farley still be CEO of Ford instead of working at McDonald's where he belongs? Jim Farley strikes me as a person intent on bankrupting Ford Motor Co. Why do companies no longer listen to their customers, and no longer offer products that customers want and can actually afford?

Man, recently I grabbed a 1997 Dodge Dakota 3.9 V6 from an estate. This truck is so simple, so easy to work on. So much room in the engine compartment. It has power NOTHING in the interior. Stereo is shyte. However, this thing is a little tank. Been off-roading 7 times now, and she tanks everything I throw at it. Doesn't have a lick of speed: I barely pulled away from a Prius yesterday...yes, for real. Highway passing power in today's world of over-priced speed demons is non-existent, but damn if she doesn't put smiles on my face every single time I come flying out of a deep, muddy, water hole. Compare/Contrast that to my F150, where every time I take her off-road I break something. I have really developed an appreciation for these older vehicles as I, myself, have gotten older.
People freak out at playing $60,000-$100,000 for many to get a useless college degree and want the government to bail their debt out. But many will happily pay $75,000-$100,000 or more for a pickup truck. The world has gone nuts since the COVID debacle.

@mikefleek9259 The 2.7 is extremely overbuilt. It's probably the best engine block on the market. The 2.7 bottom end is estimated to handle over 800hp/tq. The motor makes 300hp and 400tq. The recalls isn't a design flaw, but material used on the valves. Shame, but not all 2.7 will be affected they will be tested, and if they passed they are good to go. If they fail the test ford will replace them.
There isn't a parts shortage anymore. Ford actually raised its MSRP just so dealer mark ups didn't seem so ridiculous. All dealers kept prices high and manufacturers did too. There is no way a truck that is 20k overpriced can be bought by someone that has minimum wage buying power.

Recently a young woman ran into my '09 Avalanche. It was her fault. Geico wanted to total my truck. I talked them into fixing it. Thank God. I will drive it until I die even if I have to get a new motor and/or tranny and/or blah, blah, blah. The world's gone nuts and all I want to do is tend to my garden until the end, one way or the other. Thank you for a very good summary of the current state of the truck/auto industry. We're all down a rabbit hole.
Nice to read a comment from someone that knows what they are talking about. Reckless spending Inflation and that ridiculous UAW contract they agreed to.
I work out at the Ford Claycomo Plant and we’re actually ramping up the F-150 production! They’re working more hours and days than the Transit side of the plant.
After their 5.4 ..3 v with the timeing chain, cam phaser, 3 pc spark plug...never have i ever owned a money pit like that piece of sheet, nor will I again
These new ecoboosts are trash. Belt driven oil pump, fuel pumps disintegrating trashes the whole $15,000 fuel system lines rails and injectors, $300 plastic oil pans that leak and cannot be reused. Ford is done.
I bought my 2004 XLT regular cab 5.4 brand new. It’s never needed anything more than regular maintenance. So far it’s been a perfect vehicle but I’m always worried there’s a catastrophic failure just about to happen due to the horrible reputation these engines have.
@garysloan4539 got a good one, I hear slug is what messes the timeing chain, oil pump is a bit weak for that motor, big thing to keep in running is oil changes, that's what sucks buying used,
This is why I’m still driving my 2002 Silverado 4x4 that I bought new for $23,675. I just turned 100,000 miles still have original spark plugs. I was offered 25,000 cash for it last week “excellent condition” but turned it down. I won’t be buying a new truck ever again.
In my hometown, they have not lowered the prices yet. They are an independent dealership. If you don't buy it from them, they will not do any warranty work, they will tell you to take it back to the dealership you bought it from. That's why people buy GM products. Their lot is full to the max. The prices around here in Texas are higher than the ones you showed.
The trim levels on the lots mainly depends on the dealership and what they order. Yes, there are some times where the manufacturer will force a few vehicles on the dealerships, but in the end, the dealerships know what their customers want to buy in that area, so they typically only order what they know will typically sell. As far as the base models, the Ford F150 is the XL, which is a bare bones, steel wheels and bare bed and usually has rubber floors, compared to the Chevy WT (Work Truck) which is what you showed with the steel wheels and bare bed.
Still breaks down less than the trash rolling off the line at FoMoCo. Can't even buy a basic F-150 without worrying the 2.7 or 5.0 is going to drop a valve or the transmission grenades.
People will pay for what they want. As a MOPAR salesman I’ve taken plenty of people out of the competition’s brand and have seen plenty of people leave MOPAR for the competition. It comes down to payment. Also, how much the manufacturer is willing to incentivize their products plays a huge role in the buying process of the avg consumer. The avg price of a new car now days is north of 45,000. Keep in mind that 45000 dollar car/truck/van/suv, is probably a base model without the options a consumer wants.
Bought a 2024 Lariat F150 two months ago. $9000.00 off sticker and a fair trade in value for my 2017. You have to be willing to negotiate or walk away..
Got 8k off of my 2023 lariat powerboost last September. Took a month of negotiating. Dealer would call me twice a week. I kept saying no until they got my payment where I wanted it. Which I knew they'd need to drop the price 8k to accomplish.
Haggling is fun. Hard to get dealers to play the game the past few years. I thoroughly enjoy it, but I don’t go in unprepared. Sometimes it takes a week of back and forth. Best in my life was getting a 2013 F150 XLT msrp at $44k at $28k otd. Full disclosure had a 2011 ranger as a trade but it wasn’t no where near paid off. It’s really the thrill of the hunt. Most of the time I hit my mark but sometimes I miss. If it takes a week of back and forth it’s like following a blood trail into the night. But I get it, nowadays people don’t like negotiating. They’d rather just get one price and that’s it. If you don’t ask for more you’ll never know what else you could get.

If you want to sell trucks, you have to bust the UAW. These guys make way too much money clocking in that over $80-$100 per hour to support the quicker and the other manufactures go bankrupt the quicker these contracts can be renegotiated to make cars more affordable.
I bought a new 1990 f150 300cu in straight 6 5sp stick , paid $9,800. It was a great work truck. In 10yrs it had 200k + mi. And zero paint left on it. I was told that they used H2O base paint. It’s just been downhill ever since. The 2000s they were blowing plugs. When I was looking mid 2000s over 30,000 plugs had blown out the heads. Ford said there was nothing wrong with the motors. No warranty on the plugs. I bought a Ram 2500 30% less than Ford or Chevy. I loved that truck. Now I have a Toyota.

I’ve worked in large corporations for decades. Failure of these organizations can be easily tracked to executive bonuses and the failure of strategy in favor the short term bonus chasing by these Ivy League MBA quick buck artists.
Lol, yeah
Peace.

F150 trucks USED TO have a real 8 foot bed, great for transporting 4x8 sheets of plywood! NOW because they decided to make the cab 4 doors and shrink the bed to 6 feet makes it useless for single people who work in the construction industry.
Just don't buy a crew cab if you want a 8 foot bed.
That’s not the core market anymore though. It’s the white collar guys buying pick ups. Even the single construction guys don’t want regular cab, 8 ft bed basic trucks anymore. All the new ones I see are nice crew cabs with big wheels and low profile (for a truck) tires.

Profits always rise in an inflationary environment. You have to look at margins in an inflationary environment
"ego boost" I like that.

Peoples fault for buying these astronomical, overpriced, uber hyped trucks..
8 year loans
That's the thing. They can't afford them. What is happening now is banks are extending loans at linger terms like the gentleman above me said. You can afford 70k payment if it's stretched over 8 years. 70k before interes and down-payment would be 729 (still too high in my opinion) but over the life of the loan you're more than likely paying double 70k.
If banks stopped lending at these extended rates you'd see a massive crash in the market. But you know how it goes. The government props the banks and hedge funds and other corporations to stop crashes by bailing them out and making lending standards longer
My opinion is after 3 to 4 years of driving every day your gonna get screwed with a massive mechanic bill as cars inevitably wear and tear over time. The more crap the crambn into these vehicles the longer it takes to fix them and making them complicated racks up labor hours.
In the end you will see at some point a major crash because this isn't sustainable.

$45,000 for a Ranger? NO!
Agree!
I bought a new 2wd xlt ranger in 1988 loaded …. $14700
No Brasil a mais top custa 350 mil reais

I miss the old F-150 simple, rugged and dependable

True.... That is the difference between free market economy and corporatism. But we elect politicians who love to give money away to corporate interests.
In a free market economy no business is too big to fail. Any business that does will see it's assets bought up and what was it's market share picked up by its competitors. Employees may suffer some disruption, that's what unemployment insurance was for and many will be absorbed into the competitors that soaked up the failed business market share.
Never forget that lobbyists don't hold guns to elected officials heads, but that the politicians play footsie with corporate lobbyists.
@egregiousblunder5395 we shouldn't give them this safety net. Look at what they've done with it
The Dealership is the Manufacture's customers and not the consumer. This is why we always get a bad deal on vehicles . Tesla direct sales cuts out the middle man and prices are set by supply and demand . This gives Tesla the advantage of changing prices daily , where dealerships have a loan on vehicles and can't change the price much.
So complicated that their mechanics can't fix the problem. Makes that factory warranty, " WORTHLESS "
