  • We went backpacking in the Superstition Mountains of Arizona for three days! We explored LaBarge Canyon, Battleship Mountain, and more and had a great time backpacking for our first time. Highly recommend checking this area out if you never have before!

Sees a creepy cot that looks like a medieval torture device in the middle of nowhere ... Conor: "lets sleep next to it"

Great trip! I would love to know some of the equipment you utilized.

Thanks! So being it was our first time we rented the backpacks, sleeping bags, and tent from a local camping store called Just Roughin It. The backpacks I believe were Osprey and were around the 60L mark. Sleeping bags were Nemo, and the tent I can't remember the brand. For cooking we brought our own Jetboil. Is there anything specific you wanted to know about? I think besides those main things it's just little stuff like a powerbank to charge our phones, books, utensils, headlamp, stuff like that.

You gotta check it out! We hiked in from Boulder Canyon Trail and crossed over where Battleship Mountain trail starts to get to La Barge Canyon.
We hiked in from First Water Trailhead but if you look up "Lower La Barge Box Trail" on All trails that will take you there.. but that trail starts over from Canyon Lake (you can go in from either way First Water Trailhead or Canyon Lake)

Try going into Peralta trail head next. Much more scenic. Whisky canyon is a great place to camp.

I've been using peralta trailhead as my access point for backpacking in the supes this spring! I'm going again tomorrow. Definitely a good starting point. Hike from peralta ro canyon lake! So scenic at the end of March.
