I have a question. I ended up getting my Second bachelors in biology (premed track) My first bachelors (in psychology) I got a 2.88. second bachelors I got a 3.2. But towards my last few semesters with my second degree my GPA increased 3.3, 3.49,3.7 and finally a 3.9. My question is, does medical school calculate my overall GPA from those two universities? or do they look at the last university I went to for my second degree
That’s tricky. Each Med school looks at gpas differently. Since they are both bachelors degrees, they will probably average them. They care more about the science gpa though. They will also look at trends. Since your last few semesters have increasingly higher gpas that looks very good for you.
What would you say about the NC State Master of Physiology? There are no NC premed masters at the medical schools. The NC State program is on AAMCs list and is designed for pre meds/has a good track record with NC med schools. Would it be better to pay more $$ on out of state tuition for a masters at a med school?
I am about 4 years to the video! But I had a question, do med schools look at masters? If I had a bad undergrad GPA and a good master's GPA, would they be considered separate or averaged or considered at all?
Question! I received a D on my biology class freshman year. I transferred to a university and now my only option is to retake the course and they will average them together, what can I do in this situation?
What if I retake a class I got a C or no credit in community college? Does it look bad? I’m in my Junior year but I’m going to have to retake a couple classes but I don’t have the funds to retake them in university, community college is more affordable for me
Hey Michael. I recently found out that medical schools frown upon applicants that received their degrees online. Do you think I could get accepted into a Special Masters Program if all of my undergrad coursework was online?
These masters programs aren’t super picky, but I don’t want to lead you astray. I suggest emailing a few schools you’d like to go to and asking them about that. I would think they wouldn’t care though. Goodluck!
@@ERdoctorMike what happens if the school has a medical school but the masters isnt directly under the medical school but is desgined for pre professional students
So my situation is a little different..freshman sophomore year were great, then things plummeted after a family crisis...I skipped a total of 2 1/2 non consecutive years traveling around the world to help the less fortunate/refugees, helping my ill family members, later got married then divorced, raising a child, now still continuing my education as a Biochem Junior at a 4 year. With everything that has happened, my gpa is bleeding as I try to patch it up..despite everything I’m still pushing forward, but am I still going to get into med school??? Who knows
If you have time I would retake it. Also it depends on if your science gpa is below average. You can message me on Facebook if you want to discuss it more. Goodluck!

Excellent tips and tricks, Michael, especially the secret about some med schools calculating according to last 60 hours!
Thank you so much. What is your channel all about?
Thank you so much 🥺!! I’ve been depressed about my GPA😭
It will all be okay… work hard and you’ll get there. I do advising on Facebook if you want to talk. Med school mentor is the page.
@@ERdoctorMike got it!! And thank youu
Great info
Thx
Thank you and thank you 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Can you give some examples of possible master’s programs??
Only go to the ones offered by a medical school. Rocky vista is really good and so is Kansas City. Make sure to research then though.
Thank you, I have a 3.5 and I have been freaking out
A 3.5 is really good! Don’t stress.
This is very helpful.
Good luck with everything

Subscribed and thank you :)

As long as they are known for taking students into the medical school. I would be cautious since it’s not at a medical school.

They will see both gpa’s so at that point it’s up to them how they evaluate you.

You unfortunately have to retake the class.

It’s best to retake at the same school but you certainly can retake at a CC.

losrob27, where did you do your course work online? I need to finish up a few courses and would be nice to do it online!
Do majors matter? I'm an engineer
Nope
And I have a quick question. How long is the master’s program
They are 1 year
@@ERdoctorMike thank youuuu
My low GPA is a downward trend, so my last 60 hours are still no good :(
Look into an SMP
@@ERdoctorMike currently doing a DIY Postbacc
@Mercedes Wisner where and how do u apply for a diy post bacc? What gpa do u need?
How do I calculate science gpa based on the last 60 credit hours
You’ll probably just have to use a gpa calculator online. That would be the easiest way.
lets say for quarter, average class is 4 units.... 60/4 = 15. So in this example the last 15 science classes
Do you have similar info on bs/do programs
Not yet unfortunately
But can I still get into a masters program if my gpa is low though?
Absolutely. Make sure the masters program is offered at a medical school though.

Can these tips be applied to PA school as well?
Yes :)

Michael Mazur do you have email instead l, I don’t own a FB account thank you!
Great content and subscribed! Would love hear what you think of our grad school channel. Thanks a lot!
what if you got a C plus in a course? should you retake it?
If you have time I would retake it. Also it depends on if your science gpa is below average. You can message me on Facebook if you want to discuss it more. Goodluck!
