@@offsial8531 as a punkster teen from the 80's, GNW killed me. I gave it a second try in the 2000's and it is now a beloved one. Great album. I gave it 4 stars on allmusic guide website. The official reviewer there gave it 1 star.
I'm sure it is a good album from my personal taste first and to its position now in the music history at large. Proof of that?! The japanese love this album!
Beside having a large spectrum of music taste, from ABBA to industrial pioneers Throbbing Gristle and a huge underground metal fan. I say GNW have its right place for sure as a good album historically.

Great to see that these grandfathers of hardcore punk are better than ever , and with Tez , Bones , and Rainy still 3 original members in the band they proofed that their music was the foundation for so many hardcore or even metalbands who came afterwards , Don’t forget they started this d-beat hardcore already in 1979 . Even when they already existed since 77‘ they played more like a „sex pistols“ kinda style, before they smashed our eardrums and loudspeakers with their „realities of war“ ep. i
Thought I'd hate this as Discharge were one of my favourite bands before they forgot what they were about. Have to say I love this song, will check out their new stuff for sure.

Wish my mate Danny was still here. He loved the Discharge back in the 70's when we were still scared of them.

@@buddhafx5973 Danny died in the early 80's. He loved Discharge. He sniffed lots of glue. Discharge were such a hardcore sound, full on, more so than Crass, I'm thinking of the Realities of War EP. Full on studded punk. Danny would be 55 if still alive. Ain't No Feeble Bastard, great song. Great hearing them again.
@@maryhinge128 thank you very very much for this testimony. Those early 7inches are still striking me as much as when I heard 'em the very first time. Discharge is my ultimate musical obsession and I have a very very large spectrum of interest in music. I like to say from ABBA to Throbbing Gristle, passing by classical and jazz.
I'm even into Grave New World which I gave a second chance early 2000's. I like this album a big lot.

@@maryhinge128 Sure for The Residents and The Cardiacs! We can name so many pionneers. To position myself in time, I was in my teenage years when Grave New World came out and K.O'ed by the musical turn from Discharge with this one. I begun dicovering punk music in !1984!
Did you have the chance to see Discharge opening for U2? May I ask you around where you live ?
I'm born as a french speaking Canadian. A very interesting trivia one for you. Discharge played my town Quebec City at the beginning of their 83 American tour and asked the promoter to play it again just before going back home because how much they liked the crowd. It was january '84.
As a kid and as it was the underground talk of the town, this is how I Dis-covered punk music via that historical Discharge moment. Unfortunately I heard about this after the fact. That played a part, apart from their amazing original sound to create my life long Discharge obsession. 😊
The first thing I heard from Discharge was HNSNSN and as a kid metal head at that point that lifted my soul right away with the speed of the sound and the humankind striking short lyrics. To me this album is very highly historical beside his musical pioneering because of the way it is expressing so vividly through its sound and lyrics our fear of nuclear war from that area. 💀

Rat does fine with the Varukers- legends in their own right. Consistently put out killer records- but.. he wasn't right. I like this new fella a lot more. This material fukkn rips! Sure, its not Decontrol, then again...I'm not sure that can be recreated. It holds up to the legendary shit, good on 'em.
