- Siren - Thunderbolt 1000T / Federal Signal DSA
Port - 4/5
Location - University of Minnesota Twin Cities - West Bank
Alert - 0:02
Attack - 2:02
DSA malfunction - 3:22 (This is how the DSA's should sound • Federal Signal DSA - M... )
The DSA malfunction is a lot more audible this time, you can't miss it.
I also apologize for the audio at times, the rain really messed it up.
Wow, the Thunderbolt works and the DSA's fail. The thunderbolt has been there for a long time too and still works...
The DSAs sound like the beginning to some slow techno song
Awesome Video!
Also 2 quick questions:
1. Does this thunderbolt only go off in Alert for 5 minutes during the statewide tornado drill?
2. When is the statewide Tornado Drill in Minnesota?
1. Yes.
2. Middle of April in MN, not sure about the exact dates.
Siren MN it’s on April 16th 2020 1:45 or 6:45
@@connorw07extras40 Thank You!!
I heard that while I was filming too!
I new the 4/5 still works and it didn't replaced yet.
It's not coming down for awhile, I can assure you
That’s good
@@iowansirenrecordings2454 that’s awesome, finally one that doesn’t immediately get replaced for a shitty reason
the dsa sounds like a whelen
Gave me creeps when that windup happened
I'll be recording another pair of DSA's located on the campus for next months test. Kind of tired seeing these one's malfunction every time I record it.
I wonder if they are all malfunctioning like this is there any way you can let the school know about this
What are the DSA’s supposed to do if the thunderbolt is there?
Shea Goff The DSA’s serve as a campus-wide notification system, they’re not used as tornado sirens.
That Thunderbolt refuses to sound anything other than perfect.
3:38 your mic got muted by water droplets LOL
I wonder what's wrong with that DSA. Someone should record it close up!
Haha, I got really unlucky with the timing of the rain.
I filmed this in the same spot back in August of 2019, insane echoes from there
They’re absolutely insane no matter where you are!
True!
What causes the DSA siren to malfunction?
eokis Not entirely sure.
Loud Raw Electricity Sound and Thumping Sound is not good I am sure they should replace these DSAs with small Modulators like maybe 2 Cell ones and have them pole mounted in the most areas were students are in large numbers around campus rain snow and winter temperatures are not good for the DSAs as water might of seeped into the horns and affected the sound Drivers lastly would be nice instead of a 2001-130 a Federal 508 would sound similar to the old Thunderbolt although if that is not enough a Federal Equinox would be good too for a cheaper option
Minneapolis uses whelen Omni alert OA2’s, if the DSA gets replaced it will most likely get replaced with an Omni alertOA2
@@minnesotaoutdoorwarningsirens No the University of Minnesota has a Contract with Federal Signal not Whelen the City of Minneapolis has Whelen Omni Alert OA2s downtown already I am talking about the areas around the Thunderbolt which are Campus Property not City Property
Gary Hisgun oh ok
Gary Hisgun I just drove by a similar siren to this one, the 1000T in Bloomington
@@minnesotaoutdoorwarningsirens those might be in the process of being replaced the 1003s Rotator stopped working but it still sounds but how will Federal get all they way up there to switch out sirens they would have to take both apart and haul them up and down Bloomington has a couple 2001-130s installed and are waiting on the other two Sirens the 1000T by Lunds and the 1003 high up
DSA’s are screwed
I recorded a 2001-SRN today, it was by my school
Cool can I have a link?
where is the DSA siren?
AngryBird StoryMaker Right above the trees on the lower right side. It’s a black rectangle basically.
DSA’s are some of the worst electronic siren in this world
ATI would like to have a word with you.
Siren MN ok?
Siren MN ATI’s aren’t that bad, they don’t glitch like DSA’s do
Oof!
Not really
