It's for sure set to chopper 7; you can check out my other T'bolt video (shot at White Bear City Hall) for another example. I've never heard White Bear Lake (or Ramsey County for that matter) ever use the hi-low setting on any siren
@bytor55110, that is correct. The city hall is actually not involved in any of the warning systems. The police/fire have their own separate headquarters if you will that is not connected to city hall. Inside the police/fire building is the White Bear Lake dispatch center that dispatches police/fire/EMS as needed over the radio. These tornado sirens are solely used for weather alerts. Also, these sirens are not activated by WBL either, they are set off by Ramsey County.
That would be correct. My hunch is that White Bear uses a central dispatch center at City Hall or someplace similar to send out emergency services as needed. Ramsey County does not sound their sirens for fire calls, but that's also dependent on the city you reside in as well. Some sound them while others do not...
I listened to it pretty closely, and it sounded like the STH-10 I recorded last year (which I have posted here on YT already). There's an ACA Allertor 125 up the road a little bit, but from this location I couldn't hear it. The other T'bolt I recorded at WBL City Hall is about 2 miles north of this location.
You can hear the blower because it is right on top of building with siren you can see it very clear from other side. Controls must be on back of building or inside
If it was years ago that you saw those sirens, chances are they aren't there now. I actually drove there to investigate... just Joy Park is there now, no sirens. Changes in development affect where sirens are placed for best areal coverage. Since parks are usually low spots that are densely covered by trees, you wouldn't get a good range out of a siren (let alone two) being there anyway.
This was 1 of the many sirens I could hear from my house in North St. Paul, there was a Thunderbolt 100T on top of the public works building at one time but it's not there anymore and was replaced by another siren on top of the City Hall building. Any idea what kind of siren it is? It sounds every day @ Noon.
I know exactly what that is... it's a Whelen Vortex. Uses sound drivers instead of mechanical parts to produce sound. I can also hear this siren from my place, too. Interesting how North St. Paul sounds off at noon each day since no other communities sound them at noon either as far as I know... it's also weird how the siren abruptly cuts out during the wind-down.
@bytor55110 I know I mean the control boxes like on a pole mounted siren, you have the battery, timer, power controls, and manual activtion pannel. I am not saying they activate it. Most citys sirens are activated by the county not the city . Just what you said but kind of misunderstood me
@amtrak3501 Unfortunately, I can't take time off work to go and find out why it's not sounding. I think that even if I contacted the county about it, they wouldn't know either.
You should of gotten another video of this siren during the April 19th 2012 6:55 PM Tornado Drill could you get another video of this doing Alert and Attack sometime would like to hear what the Attack Signal sounds like with this one
I was wondering if you could answer a question for. years ago my fam and i were driving down joy rd towards white bear ave and some where down the road. I saw a allertor and xt22 across the street from one another.I was wondering if they were still there at all?
@immabored1 Nope Whenever i go to my Grandmas house i look to see if a 2001 is there and it is still there and has rotated since i last saw it. I just saw it this weekend

If they don't use High-Low signal, that means the fire dept doesn't use this siren for fire calls.

This siren is still there been watching it since the 2001 disease in st paul and every time i see my grandma i stop here
Love how you can hear the blower

My grandma and grandpa live near this siren. Never heard it go of in real live before.

Yes, it does. It just didn't sound in attack for this test.
I have noticed the cutting out. It really does seem weird. It also seems to be cutting in during the wind-up.
I passed by this *all the time* going to Century for my CTC class but I've never found the time to record the siren myself.
@rhett443 That blower looks wayy too small to be a first generation blower.
@JMAN123436 This siren is remotely activated by Ramsey County. White Bear Lake has no control over its sirens whatsoever.
Nice video! Sounds like a 5/6 port set to chopper level 7. I could be wrong, I wonder if they still use hi-low.
Can you just ask them to do hi low?

It abruptly cuts down in the wind-down because the blower turned off.

did you find out why you dont hear this siren? i would guess the compressor has something to do with it
Chopper 5 with reverse wired blower.
Its sounds like it's duel toned

This one must be on chopper level 7
@bytor55110 oh bummer, awesome video, btw.
See my other video from fire station 1... that has the attack signal included.
Sweet!

Is this siren still here?
Dakota Hoes yes
Awesome
No, there's a 508 sitting between the FD and high school. Although, the other thunderbolt is still up. (I know this was 4 years ago)
Hi-lo
