    At our age, it's encouraging to see you not affected by getting on the ground. Spirit is eager, knees not so much...lol. Great job.

    Blackie , Great Video and Outstanding Information. On putting up a quick poncho shelter. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and wisdom and time and passing on the craft. I found another uses for soft shackle , putting them around a squirrel's neck and put them on my belt to make easy carrying them if I don't have my hunting vest with me. You Are The Master Woodsman and Buschcrafter. Thanks Again. Tim L.

      That would be more useful than a lot of what they're teaching... This would have been a lot more useful to me than "music appreciation" LoL

    Thanks Blackie. Already gettin’ a little too cold for that kinda thing up here in Western MA, next week’s lows at night are gonna be creeping down into the 30’s. The countys to the north , and to the west of me in the high hill towns will probably be getting hard frost in the next few nights. Old Man Winter is creeping round the corner.

    If you make it to air tight you can build up condensation and that can be a whole different problem if you get damp/wet in the winter.

    • @BLACKIETHOMAS
      @BLACKIETHOMAS  2 роки тому +1

      very true but with the edges blocked with leaves you will still get a little air flow and help keep condensation to a min

    Mentioning that a combat Marine gave you this idea makes a lot of sense. I can easily see how easy it would be to improve the camoflage to fit the environment.

    I'm 6 four. We did do this in the Australian Army with a tarp shelter called a hootchie. Too short tbh. I use 3x3 DD tarp these days. Basically same deal. But you can close 1 end up easily. Nice n toasty. Same weight less a few dollars more smaller packing size. Tbh most brands of 3x3 tarps are a way better option. Sure it's additional to a poncho. My view it may rain but you'll rarely be in 8 9 hours of it. You'll be under your tarp that long so worth the dollars to be a bit bigger and not cramped up

    Great vid in an emergency situation I’d definitely do this but with having both hips replaced ground sleeping is not fun anymore for me . Hammock or good air bed carried along is how I have to go . Thanks for sharing Sir always interesting to watch o w if your vids
