    Its pcvr headset which will possibly connect to a type c usb phone. Either built in phone mount. Or way to tether a phone by usb cable

    You should cover the newest VR Knuckles and stuff too. TBH if you make some videos similar to this one, about other VR hardware you could probably get pretty popular. Info was useful and funny.

    The controllers do have to light up, because of the camera tracking system. I had a Samsung Odyssey and it was the same way - the controllers have lights on them.
    As for the phone/PC, the headset is a full headset with its own screens, but if you are at home you plug into a PC for more power, and when you are away you can use a cell phone to power it (or will be able to, it sounds like that may not be ready at launch, not clear). So you won't be looking at the phone's screen, the phone will just be supplying the processing for the headset.

      I'm fairly sure you're wrong about that first part, hope that doesn't come off as rude. I've never used a Samsung Odyssey but it sounds like it uses the same system the PSVR uses, and while 6DOF (the tech being used for COSMOS) does use actual cameras, the tracking is no where near as simple as the PSVR or Odyssey. The Oculus Quest is using the same tech and has been shown running without lights countless times. But who knows, maybe its something that helps tracking in the dark, or uses a mixture of both technologies. For the phone/PC topic, we really don't know much. All is speculation, like i say in my video. But if you have evidence that says were supposed to literally plug the headset into a PC or phone i'd be super interested to see that!

    • @kennylaysh2776
      @kennylaysh2776 5 років тому +1

      @@VrtualVR Not rude at all, no worries! The Odyssey actually says you need a certain light level in a room to use the controllers. I don't really know all that goes into it, and maybe the lights on Cosmos don't really matter - but if it's anything like the odyssey, they should be there to help with camera tracking (I hope they aren't just there to suck down battery).
      Early reports said the Cosmos was fully wireless, but articles have since printed retractions that when using the PC, it uses wires (for now, no idea what wireless options will be later). For the phone, I see them using 5g wireless, and I'm not sure if that means the phone is simply streaming to the headset, or plugs in. I do know the Cosmos doesn't use the phone's actual screen, but there is certainly still a lot we don't know for sure yet. Not to mention what could still change between now and release anyway. I would LOVE a fully wireless system.

    This will be high priced. Will put alot of people off. It won't be the oculus quest killer. Because there two different headsets. Quest is a standalone headset with 6dof and better display than rift. The cosmos is a clone of the Microsoft mixed reality headsets with possibility of wireless and being able to connect a smart phone. Htc failed at a standalone headset by releasing 6dof headset with on single 3dof and slapping premium price on it. The quest will have rift titles on it. With third party apps like vridge and alvr to access steam vr.

    • @VrtualVR
      @VrtualVR  5 років тому

      We don't know the price currently, but i think if it is high priced that wont put too many people off. There's a pretty large community on the VIVE side who are willing to spend hundreds for small improvements to there VR experience, take the VIVE EYE for example. I don't seriously think anything is the oculus quest killer, i was just joking around calling it the "oculus quest abortion", but your comment on it being different is a little off. The cosmos display will most likely be on par if not better than the Quest's, HTC said the headset will be there highest quality yet, so better than even the VIVE pro. The cosmos is nothing like the Microsoft MR tho, its a 6DOF portable/ PCVR headset, not a 2 camera AR headset. The use of 3 cameras to create a smooth VR experience is only a good thing, if its just as smooth as the Quest with 6 cameras, then its half the cameras for half the price, thats only a good thing. Also, the VIVE is well known for being the most compatible PC headset, since its built for Steam VR and Steam VR is the most widely supported dashboard for VR. Also Revive works directly in SteamVR, allowing you run rift games without even leaving SteamVR.
      While i think i most your arguments are rooted in miss information, i appreciate your comment. I'm glad to see people talking about different headsets and sharing there opinions on cool VR topics.

      it's their cheap option ....it's exactly the same as the RiftS ...but with the optional functionality to be plugged in a phone or whatever
      RiftS and the Cosmos r great setups for new vr users
