I wanna try iOS and will probably buy an SE 2 because my dad has an iPhone 7 with 2 quality cases and a first gen SE, if I want to buy a more expensive iPhone, my dad may buy the SE 2 and get a new phone for the first time since 2017 :D
My grandad still uses an iPhone 7 in the matt black colour. He got it used in 2021 and is still using it. It’s crazy how many things was brought to the iPhone 7 that we have on every iPhone nowadays. And we was mad back then because it has the same design as the past few years and no headphone jack.
I sold my iPhone 14pm due to some financial issues but picked up a 7 plus for cheap. It’s on 15.8, and while it’s not iOS 17, it’s modern enough to not feel out of date. With a new battery I can manage to last all day on a single charge. I have the jet black one and wish Apple would make a new iPhone in this color. The bezels don’t really bother me, and I’m glad to have touchID again. If they had made a iphone SEplus I would have gone with that, but this will do for now.
Still using the 7+ jet black, works great. Replaced the battery twice, roughly every 3 years. Mainly use it these days to shoot photos (capture moments), record my Strava runs (so light at 188g), and surf the web. This past weekend the battery survived a 26 mile run - fantastic.

Good review! One thing it can't do is 'Express Transit' which is a NFC function that allows people to get through fare gates at railway stations without unlocking their phones. Only the iPhone 8 and later iPhones can do this. For example the BART train system in San Francisco has mobile version of the Clipper card but not for the iPhone 7.
That's the way to go. I always encourage friends and family to keep their old phone after they upgrade for reasons like how you're using your iPhone 7. Old smart phones are so multifunctional that they can be repurposed as something else. And repurposing your old phone can also contribute to making your new phone's battery last longer because you wouldn't be doing those multimedia things on the new device.
