Always worth trying out something new, i only saw your post after watching the video and then went back and looked for differences like the UI being dimmed, for me once i noticed it wasn't too bad, maybe just needs tweaking a little.@@Augimund
Tip for Gondor, just hold E.Osgilith && Cair Andros with a few elite troops and build up your eco. Your eco will soon become a powerhouse then you can push out with relative ease.
I've found on some situations the AI does wait a couple of turns and doesn't auto attack, so you do lose men to attrition, and they have a full stack each turn, not always viable. Depends on your self rules really, you can rush minas ithil and hold there, the black gate doubtful but not impossible, at that point its a matter of what you want the experience to be as.
@aonirsplayground6224 it's about finding the balance with your garrison. Once you get the right balance the AI will always attack thinking it will win, but you easily crush the trash spam
Just make sure to keep tabs on the South. You can lose Pelargir if you don't make sure to keep an adequate garrison there, and that's a big blow to your economy.
I prefer a different tactic. hold everything at once with minimal garrison. Minas Tirith, West, East, fort south of pelennor, two forts in ithilien, fort north of minas tirith. get a ship close by so you can ferry units across anduin. Because your defences are all small, ai thinks you're weak and attacks frequently with smaller stacks than it would use otherwise. But you can reinforce each siege from 5 different spots, after battle shifting units around so the ones without movement get into sieged province while those who stayed there go to forts. It means you are not under any risk of prolonged siege, any location is immediately reinforced by full stack, and you maintain 30+ units basically for free. It holds easily for first 30 turns and by that time all money saved from your army being dirt cheap kickstarts your economy so you can easily double the forces and push out.
Yes, but Harad and Umbar will also attack very soon from the South. I managed to hold off Mordor at Osgiliath and Cair Andros, but the Haradrim and Umbarans invaded me with dozens of full-strength armies while all my forces were in the Northeast lol.
Oh seriously a V6 ! I literally installed v5 last month after finishing my last v4.6 campaign and am only now doing my 1st campaign as Dale 😁😁😁😁well hope i can finish that before new version comes out or i'll be late to the party again.
Dk if this is useful, but the "discounts" from building halls are only applied when you queue things after the building is completed. So, putting buildings in line directly after completing your builders hall doesnt work for that building.

It would be cool if you could choose to upgrade settlements when you occupy them or have certain buildings, instead of upgrading them due to population growth near the natural end of your campaigns when your frontiers are expanded far away from those settlements with zero chance of any battles.
One thing i like to do is to add population to for example Annúminas, let's say 1000. And then remove from regions like the shire or Bree since they are overpopulated. Doesn't break immersion for me atleast, it's like you leader forceably resetteling your subjects.

I wish artillery was just a bit more accurate, the slowing on the campaign map, and the worse killing power than even basic archers is really underwhelming.
Very much, i played a lot of DaC.6 campaigns Long objective ( 3 dwarven factions, ar adunaim, high elves, rohan) the dwarven faction are very underwhelming, smaller populations, and their lack of cav, just makes long campaign grinds, genuinely not fun ( not being able to silence the most basic of archers with cavalry from time to time, or being able to chase routing units. i think the solution would be to rework the merc pools, more variability and replensihment, more mercenary units like in the MoS submod.. As for artillary, you don't get that feeling "powerful" that you got in med 2, where seeing a ballista or a catapult in the army made you reconsider attacking, in its current state i feel artillary is just there to trigger AI script to get down the hill and attack, otherwise, even basic archers get on average twice as many kills as my catapults or ballistas. if the dwarves going to be that limited, i think their artillary should be better than other artillary in the game i.e ( special types of ammunition, better accuracy ? or perhaps unique artillary specific to the dwarves ( i think that'd be very lore friendly)
I believe artillery have normal infantry campaign movement speed now (unless they reverted it). Also ballistas are fantastic for defending bridges and settlements. Have infantry on either side of the gate/bridge, giving your ballistas an unobstructed line of sight and they will decimate the clumped up enemies. Try the flaming shot too, it might work better.
I see the point of certain faction eg dwarves having better artillery, but for everyone else, it really should be limited to ease a siege, not used as "field artillery" as that's pretty much a movie trope until the age of gunpowder
Artillery can have a lot of utility in dictating the terms of engagement. Enemy refuses to move off their hill? Shoot at them with arty for a while. It's also incredibly useful when the battle is over a choke point. Just find the largest blob and have at it.
Make sense for the gameplay prospective, but if you play with houserules and lore oriented i think it's better to not change the capital. But good suggestion, I will use it ahahhah
I think the family trees should be expanded to show all the important generals and the families that were mentioned in the book and if the modders want to have the specific characters have their significant others like Arwen for Aragorn and Eowyn for Faramir that would be cool

I really think it would make sense to get rid of the masons hall buildings in the game. The masons halls are essential everywhere you intend to build really, so that makes me think they’re just a proxy for reducing costs and add nothing in themselves to the game. I wonder if subconsciously the desire to make DaC hard and a challenge has cause a bit of feature bike shedding. The agent limits, removal of priests for culture conversion. I really think the game would play better if there wasn’t such a tight hold on tools the player has.
I disagree. The agent limit is intended to prevent diplomat or religious priest spamming. The AI in the vanilla game spams agents and deploys them to your provinces acting like mini spies. The mason halls also reduce the time it takes to build other buildings. The reduction of time makes building much better. These changes prevent the game from being a slog fest.
