Hi there Sorry but you can’t say AF works on the SL2 as of today’s level of performance any other brands offer. I own both SL, SL2, LUMIX S5iiX and none of them reaches the performance of my D6 when it comes to AFC.
📸 The stuff that DREAMS are made of & if you don’t have a dream how can you make it come true. Like a good ROLEX watch a LEICA SL3 is a good investment and wonderful camera to have as a family heirloom to hand down to the next generation of photographer filmmaker. I now know what I am working towards and saving up for.✌🏻😎🇦🇺 fyi - $20k to $30k camera & a couple of lenses (AUD)
I don't think Leica's for me. The reason for that is I like to have a camera that is suited for wider genres of photography, this makes Nikon Z8 and Sony A1 more suited for the role as my general go to camera. For photography oriented camera I might be tempted to look at medium format Hasselblad X2D.
11:32 "Leica's [M to L] adapter passes through lens and aperture data": M lenses do not provide aperture information per image, irrespective of using them on an M (e.g. M11, ...) or L mount camera. The EXIF aperture data is always an estimate performed by software in the camera. 11:50 "lenses are future proof": Perhaps somewhat true regarding optical resolution. Not so much accurate for the autofocus speed and motors - e.g. my SL-Summilux 50mm f/1.4 is the slowest autofocus lens I have ever used.
Unfortunately I don’t believe any lens system is future proof as you mentioned. I personally found out the expensive way with Nikon and Hasselblad where just after I bought the full compliment of lenses I wanted, my investment plummeted in value after the new series were rolled out. Thanks for the great review as always!
If i owned the SL2 I would keep it, but if i were buying new i would get the SL3...I have seen you shoot incredible images with the 2, so I would not be in a hurry to uograde...Good video and thanks!
I was looking for ETZ21 PRO Megadap Autofocus Adapter for older Nikkor lenses to my new Nikon Z 6 II, but on Amazon there aren't any. Do you sell them yourself? Thanks.
The third iteration of lots of things becomes the classic of the type, it’s what the designers really wanted. Version one was the barely adequate prototype, version two gets the bugs out and version three responds to user feedback and has more mature technologies inside.
Dammit. I wonder which equipment I can scuttle in order to snag an SL3? My a9II is looking a little vulnerable right about now. Thanks for your usual informative and enthusiastic review.
As a professional photographer with 2 x SL2-S’s I won’t be upgrading. Not only does this not come with a battery charger but I will also need to upgrade batteries ( I have 7 ) and cards so that’s at least £2k extra and for what? I don’t need more pixels and even the new AF will not be as good as Sony. I find that people that are “invited” by Leica to review their cameras certainly have a bias to them There is no getting away from the fact that Leica also have the worst customer service for pro shooters, and that’s what people like me that use their cameras focus on not the fact the on/off switch is different I do wonder how many of these reviewers actually use these cameras in a real world scenario
Some nice tweaks, but still falls short with some Photography needs, ie fast moving subjects. SL2 is still the best bang for the buck! Maybe next time with the SL4? Other brands are still way ahead of the specs of the SL3, I love Leica heritage, but the M's are where it is!
.... Killing their own brand :) ( they've done it before from the 70's to 2009 ) someone at black water probably or Andreas ... Erwin gave upon them and so did I ...
I owned and used the Leica sl2 and sl2s, 90-280, 24-90, 16-35, 35 apo and the 50mm sl summilux. Absolutely phenomenal lenses. Autofocus was fine for still subjects, but when subjects were erratic and I needed confident continuous autofocus, the cameras could not hold up. I sold them all and picked up the Nikon z9 and the Hasselblad x2d-100. The z9’s a autofocus was an eye opening experience. I highly suggest renting one before committing to the sl2 ,sl2s or sl3. If you don't need blazing fast autofocus, look no further, the leica will work well.
... and yes I owned them all 2x SL2 MOT, R3, R4, R5 ... 2.8 280mm the whole 9 yards... but in the end it was Nikon F3 HP Press all the way until the Canon RS arrived ( I still shoot M :)
I would buy this SL3 if Leica comes clean about whether or not they would introduce the Content Authenticity Initiative in their next firmware, or we shall have to wait until the SL3s.😮
The more Leica videos I see I see the appeal.. if you gotta loads of disposable income or you’d make the money back easily sure.. but otherwise I think what does it do that any other significantly cheaper flagship would do like a Z8.. and it’s missing too much stuff.. but damn don they look good.
Off track, the scene at 3:31 is just beautiful! How was it shot, the type/strength of glow filter, and colors? The SL3 is truly a masterpiece of art and tech. I hope to be able to buy one someday. A wonderful experience to be invited to the launch. Thank you for the review.
I was looking forward to your reaction to the new SL3. I can’t wait for your review. I plan to sell all my Sony gear and transition to the SL3. I currently have the Q3, primarily for travel and BTS at events. The SL3 will become my new workhorse. I love the Leica system. It has a cleaner interface, which allows me to focus on creating and less on the technical aspects of the camera.
will there be a Leica SL3-S ? What does triple resolution mean ? What does crop mean for 60 mpx sensor? Please answer this question in your in-depth video.
The side-plot with “Darling”, your spotted friend, makes this video sooooo good. Then there’s the info on your trip - and let’s not forget the SL3. I’m happy with my SL2-S, but this turned my head
Your review is the best I have seen!! You touch on all the keep attributes of the experience and what makes Leica special (they are thinking decades ahead, etc.). Thank you for sharing your amazing insights; I just need to come up with an acquisition plan. Two last things: 1) Loved the video clips with the stuffed panther (I think it is a panther) 2) Hopefully the plane flight from PHX to DEU and back wasn't too hard on your back
Nice review on the new SL3, it looks awesome for sure! I will stay with my SL2 for now, but keep an eye on the SL3. Love my SL2 and it does everything I need it to do.
My issue with the SL line is its design-clunky and the name is all large capital letters. It' looks too aggressive and not elegant. It would have been better if the whole thing was smaller, and Sony did it. Their M line is still the best looking-elegant and not "in your face."
Congratulations and quodos to you for being invited to the launch of the Leica SL 3. Great introduction to the interface etc. Look forward to you using it in practical situations when you get one.
Great review and some user enthusiasm is nice to see. I’m hoping that your ability to do that long trip and return means your back is truly improving. Thanks for this. Def jealous of the trip to the Mothership!
Cameras like this cost ten thousand plus dollars in Canada extremely few will buy it. Doctors or people with money to burn will buy as a statue symbol. Please do more on cameras working people buy.
A professional tool with an expected $3-4,000 depreciation over 4-5 years is an absolute steal in business terms. That’s less than a cup of coffee per day!

Tell me how this is any better than Sony A7rV… which is better/faster in most ways.
My last Leica was a IIIf in the 70's. Looks like Leica is evolving into my Z8.

Interesting view. But I would not consider the original SL (type 601) as a prototype. It feels mature.

There is definitely a camera out there for everyone :)
Looks like Leica is killing it. Loved the sl2 and this looks like a smoothening out of the wrinkles.

thanks for that very detailed review! which camera lens would you recommend for that one, for a beginner? :-)
Affordable for the wealthy.
Dreams for everyone else.
Didn’t know I was wealthy.
4:19 Maybe they should have printed larger numbers on the lenses... they are not quite large enough 🤦♂
Greeting. That was a excellent review. I like the way you get right to the point in your videos.
Thank you!
Are u on Instagram?

Is there still the issue of blown highlights?
Arent you also in Tony and Chelsea?
Leica cameras are exquisite, but even a used Q series is a stretch for me. I’m just glad they’re there for when I can get one.
Awsome. Thanks. 💯👍

"Tea, Ell Three, hot." Thanks! The best thing about the SL3 is that the SL2 will be more affordable. I'd love a new TL3, though...

What did you find with battery life? I’ve heard even with the new battery, you’d better carry a few extra batteries??
Thanks to you I have too now safe up and buy this camera system. Thank you for another awesome video.
Just a fancy panasonic
Good point. Better off with a Panasonic L mount body and spend the difference on lenses.
Thank you. Fantastic review from a fantastic girl.
Need help!
Is there any logical argument to buy a SL3 instead of a Sony A7RV???
I cannot find any reason.
I can find one reason. Choice.

Leica kit is expensive. However, it is fun to use, relatively simple compared to other brands, and Leica stands behind its products.
@@johnkasianowicz6536what does standing behind the product mean? If it is not working will they take it back?
No one buys these cameras unless they are rich or got money . So really no need for this video review.
It’s still a camera, is it not? It is content, is it not? Does she not always post content regarding photography news anyway?
Lol these types of comments are hilarious 😂. Rich? Got money? My goodness thank the lord for high end technology for us mere mortals to choose from.
Just give it a year and you will find them used for a more reasonable price
