I don't watch this show, but I find it funny that everyone in the thumbnail looks different except Aaron.

I like how the doctor explicitly tells Ruby the “one place we can’t go” rule. He learned his lesson after the Rose’s dad incident.

Having The Doctor just open up to Ruby was an exquisite breath of fresh air after 13 being so militantly secretive.

This isn't common knowledge but there was actually a comic-book exclusive crossover between Star Trek: The Next Generation and the Eleventh Doctor where to two interacted, and with flashbacks to a time when Captain Kirk met Tom Baker's Fourth Doctor.
Plot twist possibility: what if it wasn't Ruby's mother that left her at the church, but Ruby leaving herself there so she could eventually meet the Doctor?
I think Ruby is the doctor's daughter.

So in the marketing, and internally it's referred to as Season 1, but a lot of media and entertainment news sites (and wikipedia!) are still calling it Series 14, and Russell T Davies has used both terms in interviews. Personally, I think the next showrunner will come along and ignore the new Season titles.
It can be both, season 1 is just for Disney plus cause they think it'll be confusing, its both season one and series 14
Wikipedia actually had a whole big discussion about it, and the result of that discussion was: Undecided/Inconclusive. And so Series 14 stayed simply because it was first. The (new) Tardis Wiki however did change it to Season 1, the old Tardis Wiki on Wikia/Fandom is still Series 14; but the admins abandoned that one for the new one.

I can understand a lot of the folks who found this episode mid, but I think I was just so charmed by how much the Doctor and Ruby just loved being there for babies. And then considered the bogeyman too, as a child not to be left behind.

Maybe 'The Church on Ruby Road' is listed as the premiere on Disney+ for those outside the UK, but it's still considered a Special in England. BBC's iPlayer lists 'Space Babies' as Episode 1.
This is also the first time I'm seeing that ident. Does anyone know if that's their international or US one?
I'll have to check again, but my watchlist is still showing "Special 4" in addition to listing it as episode 1 in the regular series page. My Disney+ subscription is for Canada.
I think the renumbering of Church on Ruby Road as S1E1 is a Disney+ only thing. On BBC iPlayer its marked as Christmas Special, and this one Space Babies is episode 1. Go figure!
Tbf Disney’s decision sort of makes sense. A lot of context is missed without watching the Christmas special first mainly to do with ruby’s character so it makes sense they’d want new viewers to start from there. Space babies is alright but imo it’s a horrible starting point lmao

Does it really matter ? This is the only Doctor Who season you can see on Disney+, so I don't know why people would be confused.

So the new season numbering is weird, because for all intents and purposes, this carries on Nu Who, the rebrand to S1 is mainly for international viewers I think who’ll be watching this through Disney Plus, and new viewers of course.

Space Babies is only the second episode on Disney Plus/America, Church on Ruby Road is still the Christmas special everywhere else as far as I know with this remaining as episode 1

Baby Eric in the thumbnail needs to look about 50% more concerned to match Baby Eric in the show.
I knew the butterfly thing was likely to be resolved quickly when they showed it in the trailer. But, I thought maybe a big part of the episode it was in.

The Doctor has the regeneration energy of his people coursing through him, he blew the tiniest bit of that energy into the butterfly. The Doctor didn’t make it snow but someone did and you’ve met them, spoilers. This season is going to be so good, something Is coming, something old, older than the Doctor, older than recorded time.
Was the butterfly not dead?
IMDb lists the holiday special as s1e0 and this one as s1e1... so, no matter how you categorize it, it's still fun! ⏳

I think that the woman in the black hood isn't Ruby's mom, it's Ruby itself, that's why the doctor is so confused and don't want to bring Ruby there

It's well worth watching Doctor Who Unleashed as it covers the whole process of doing the Baby's filming.

17:46 in the behind the scenes they revealed that whenever actual babies were in the strollers they had people in completely green costumes pushing the strollers around. When they were remote controlled they had dolls in the strollers.
Everybody lives. I think only the 2nd or 3rd time in Doctor who where no one dies.

I liked the episode but this era of Doctor Who just doesn't seem like the same classic Who I grew up with. I loved Eccleston, Tennant and Matt Smith as well John Barrowman, Rose and Mickey, Amy Pond and Rory. That seemed classic to me but this seems fun and ok so far
