    Nice job Del. How about a little summer concert. Pick. A couple of your favorite CBGs, a few of your favorite songs and let us have it. Like watching you build but really enjoy your music. Thanks

    If I had one of those with four strings and 22 frets, I could die happy. Hey, Del---Please show your critters next video. I need a "critter fix" and only Mojo and his crew can make it happen. Thanks.

  • @magnificenthonky

    I've been watching a bunch of you guys build CBG's, this weekend.
    The whole concept is centered around this revival of primitive chordaphones, and other hobo-folk instruments, which is nice.
    And, I see y'all using paint cans and dog bowls as resonators, using hinges, scrap metal, and nails to hold strings in place, down at the tail, using bolts or nails for bridges and nuts, and all that good stuff. I like that; it's cool.
    BUT, then y'all want to get all trick and fancy when it comes to frets, tuning machines, the fretboard, and even the headstock. Look, this is all well and good, but can't you come up with a more period correct way to create frets and tuning mechanisms?
    I want to see you guys build a fretted CBG without fret wire. Without those fancy, pre-made tuning machines that you order from the internet or pick up from the music shop (and scavenging them from another instrument is cheating, for this purpose). And no "real" guitar strings. Figure out another way to string the thing. As far as the neck, keep it simple. No high class wood; get it from a pallet, or shipping crate, or something along those lines. Keep it one piece, like you've got to get this thing done, so you can play for change, so you can get a plate of beans, because you're starving and haven't eaten anything for a few days. Oh, go on a leave the electronics out. As long as we're pretending that we're in the Great Depression, there won't be anything in which to plug the thing, anyway.

      i’m certain people have… most of these builds are a combination of old world and new world . keep watching and eventually you’ll find what you’re looking for . guaranteed 😎👍🏽

      @@PuckettCigarBoxGuitar So, not taking the challenge, then?
      You oughta try it, at least once. It would be a great experience of living in history, something a little removed from the norm, and something a bit more authentic to add to the collection, even if it's rarely played. And, who knows; you might find that you like how it sounds.

    Nice! I was wondering how its sounds with a slide...did I miss that? Is that regular laminate flooring? I have plenty left over. Great idea.

    what type of saddle is that i cant find anything like it (looking in to building my first cigar box guitar but i dont really know anything about guitars your videos help a ton tho)

    • @PuckettCigarBoxGuitar
      @PuckettCigarBoxGuitar  Рік тому +1

      i carve these saddles individually to set the action and intonation for each instrument. it’s not that hard

  • @rohlfing63
    @rohlfing63 Рік тому +2

    Ok, I know the first rule is "no rules", but as I get ready to start on my first resonator shortly, I was of the impression that I should try to lay it out so that the bridge and piezo are near the center of the resonator. Do you think there's a benefit to center it vs putting it out near the edge as you've done?

    • @PuckettCigarBoxGuitar
      @PuckettCigarBoxGuitar  Рік тому

      how would you attach the piezo if it was in the center?? i would think that that would kill the “resonance”. probably the best method would be a rod piezo under the saddle… i’m still experimenting

    • @rohlfing63
      @rohlfing63 Рік тому

      @@PuckettCigarBoxGuitar yes, either a rod piezo or if I use a piezo disc I'd sandwich it between the resonator and the bridge using a small wood disc (biscuit). I have some nice little stainless stove burner covers that I plan to use as resonators rather than the paint can lid.
