Thank you. This was really helpfull. I flipped it and it was worn on the other side aswell but not as much as the other one… so for now it did the job well. Once again thank you.
Great channel! I took off my hard top on my 2006 Miata, decoupled the rear window defroster cable from the hard top, now where do I connect that cable for the soft top? Or does it automatically have defroster connected when the hard top is removed? Do you have a video for that? Thanks!
I haven’t done a video on that yet, but will make one next time I have my hands on an NC / 3rd gen Miata with detachable hard top. The soft top cable should plug in to the same place that the hard top pigtail was connected.
It sounds like the nut that’s welded to the body has broken loose. You can gain access to it from inside the trunk. There are small access holes 🕳 that you can put a socket up to hold the nut. I think it’s. 12mm.
I just purchased a hardtop and my passenger side window is not fully connected to the seal and I checked the Frankenstein cleat brackets on both sides as it seems the driver side is touching and concerted to the Frankenstein bolt but the passenger side is not and it won’t move forward anymore. Any ideas as what I can do? I’m think if I can Somehow get an extended one it may work it just seems the hardtop needs to come forward and lock another inch or so. Any help would be appreciated! Searched for similar problems and haven’t found any luck. Thanks!
It sounds like one of the Chrome cleats at the rear has not engaged and has risen up on the Frankenstein bolt. Unlatch everything and start over. When you first set the sop on the car, be sure to push down and forward on the chrome cleats to make sure they both engage. Let me know if it helps.
just got a hardtop and didnt have that bracket so i ordered the pair but what bolts fit on there? or do you know if its a specific bolt? 12mm bolt doesnt seem to fit
@@derekgodoy6854 I got some bolts, washers, and nuts to hold it in place. I put the nut side on the top side, make sure the latch cover could still close tho
the frankenstein bolts on my nb don't stick out as much as yours and do not reach up and inside the chrome covers. Is there a certain type of bolt i need to look for or do I just unscrew them until they reach properly?
All of the Frankenstein bolts / pegs are the same from 1990-2005. I have never seen any that were shorter. All North American NA Miatas automatically came with Frankenstein bolts. NB’s didn’t come with with them unless a hard top was added.
2 watches? Nice.

Good work man 👍
Great voice!
My frankenstein bolt will keep spinning whenever I attempt to tighten or loosen them. Is there a way to fix this?

What if my miata doesn't have any of these latches??
If your car is not equipped with the “Frankenstein bolts” or side striker plates, you can order them from your local Mazda dealer.
