  • The Russian military has one of the special units that is highly relied upon for various missions. They were nicknamed the 'Batman' squad. These troops are said to have also been present in war missions in various parts of the world, including Ukraine. What's so great about Batman's squad.
Spetsnaz troops were the first Soviet/Russian special forces, more than two decades older than their KGB/FSB and MVD counterparts. The full abbreviation is GRU GSh or Glavnoye Razvedyvatel'noye Upravleniye Generalnovo Shtaba meaning Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff (Russian Federation).
-Usually this force is shortened to just GRU which is an abbreviation of Glavnoye Razvedyvatel'noye Upravleniye or Main Intelligence Directorate. In 2010, following reforms of the Russian Military, the Spetsnaz GRU was disbanded and the Russians were instead assigned various divisions of the Army Military. However in 2013, some units were reassigned to GRU divisions and placed under GRU authority again
