this is by far one of the nicest vids great camera work i wanted to know how to loosen the belt now i know thanks a bunch now i have more confidence in removing my alternator
@@hoohoohoblin Sure did but now I'm dealing with a timing chain or distribution issue. Definitely enough to make you wanna put a hole in a wall... With your head. Lol
Great and very informative video! I do have one question. Why is there still alternator whine even with the new alternator? Mine whines but it's fairly new and still tests good. I've heard some people say this is just a characteristic of GM.
Nice video Sr! I have a question I removed the dashboard in my truck but since I did that, my alternator no longer charges, I already replaced 2 alternators and they do not charge! Will it be a problem on the board of my truck?
So kind of a funny question. Currently doing this on a friend's truck and the bottom bolt is being a real pain. Does it need that funny alignment washer thing or can I take that out? Because it seems like it's making the bolt cross thread. I can tap it out but it's not moving in anymore. And if I wiggle it out a bit so that it would be in the right position to not cross thread the alternator won't fit. So tap it in to where the alternator will fit and it won't thread straight no matter how much I move everything around. I think I'm just going to take it out. I don't see how it could affect anything at all?
Ended up here looking to find the engine code on the chevy engine. Is it completely hidden by the alternator to the point it needs to come off in order to view it?
That’s a tough question. It depends on the engine. If it’s the same size engine, it’s probably the same alternator. But I know that some models of truck have different size pulleys and have different size belts, so I’m not sure.
The only thing you didn't tell us was at the beginning at 0:16 you didn't say what size socket to use on the tensioner. Otherwise it was a perfect instructional video! Thanks very much!!!
I would imagine so. The only thing different between the 93 and 95 is an updated interior and grille. Otherwise, everything is the same until you get to 1996 with the computerized Vortec.
You’re welcome. Mine went bad when my son took his girlfriend to Disneyland in my truck, and it failed in the Disneyland parking lot. It cost almost $300 to tow it home.
Have a 95 Tahoe as well from time to time it shuts off (when I’m at a stop and press the gas ) it will turn off but it turns on right away I notice that the check gages light comes on when it shuts off . Any idea what can it be?
I’m reading the trouble code would tell you what the problem is. On the 1995 model, you can read the trouble code with a paper clip. If you look up how to read trouble codes on UA-cam, you will find my video where I show you how to read the code with the paper clip.
my battery voltage dropped into almost the red and my battery light came on randomly. could this be the alternator or battery? i got my battery tested a couple months ago and it was fine.
I don’t know. I just went to the auto parts store and asked for one to fit my truck. It is best if you bring the alternator in with you, as some of them have a different sized pulley.

“Shut up bird” really did it for me XD
Same 🤣🤣🤣
Needed a review as it's been many years. Made it easy and dusted out cobwebbs LOL! Thanks!

yes well spoken, to the point, and good camera/video. great overall video thanks! If only all UA-cam car repair videos could be this good!
Thanks
Short, easy to follow, a little humor, thanks guys! I’ll be using this video as reference on my 92 k1500 Pickup. Cheers 🍻

Perfect video very clear and concise
Thanks pop, never had a dad to help me with this stuff but this video did just the trick 🙏
Glad it helped

I don’t know. Are you sure it isn’t the wine from one of the other pullies? Sometimes pulley bearings get bad and make noise.
What size wrench for that bottom pulley??
Nice video Sr! I have a question I removed the dashboard in my truck but since I did that, my alternator no longer charges, I already replaced 2 alternators and they do not charge! Will it be a problem on the board of my truck?
I don’t think there would be anything that ran through the dashboard. That’s very strange.
Excellent video. Here are the sizes for my 89 K1500 350.
Alternator
10 mm Electrical
13 mm / 1/2" all 3 bolts
Tensioner
16 mm / 5/8"
Thanks.
Is the process the same on a 4.3 6 cylinder

It would probably still work without the washer.

Thanks si much for this video from Russian Shevy Suburban.

What size socket did you use for the tensioner pulley ?
Is this the same for a 78 K5 blazer? I need to do mine

Very helpful I enjoyed watching. My grandpa‘a truck was a 1993 model is 1993 and 1995 both use the same part just curious

Hey sir just came across your video I have a 1992 Chevy 1500 truck I feel like this is my problem
It should be very similar. I don’t think they changed the alternator much for decades.
How many amps does this alternator have cause I have the same truck does anyone know?
my battery voltage dropped into almost the red and my battery light came on randomly. could this be the alternator or battery? i got my battery tested a couple months ago and it was fine.
In that case it’s probably the alternator.
It could also be a bad ground or other loose wire on the battery.
Awesome thank you 👍
Welcome 👍
Hey hey! I like the truck content, I’m curious can these big trucks pull +5000lbs?
They are rated to tow 5,000 pounds.
Thanks! Perfect video

What if the pulley screw gets loose
Then you'll have a fun time!
@@jakecarlile2294 it wasn’t as hard as I thought tbh. I swapped the pulley, belt, and belt tensioner. All that trouble just to swap the alternator🤣😭
