Look mum, 3 computers.
this channel name is a scam... there are computers 😥unsubscribing... 🤡
What’s a computer?
😂
🤔 🧠⏲ 💡
This channel is mod 3...
0 = 3 (mod 3)
😌
@@thepuma77 perfect response lmao that commercial was dumb
DIY genius. What this dude does with a drill, soldering iron and salvage gear is beautiful and inspiring. If this was college, I would take all of his classes.
Talk about breathing life into an old dog! Rebirth never sounded so fresh! Nice one ❤
Absolutely love the polyrhythmic experiments! Just speaks right to my heart! ❤
Man, I remember my ReBirth days many, many moons ago. I also owned a number of those original iMacs as well. Now, as of Tuedsay, 13.06.2023, I will be purchasing an M2 Ultra Mac Studio. Even in it's base configuration, it is one hell of a powerful computer.
This was bloody brilliant! The look was so cool and artistic, it sounded amazing and had such a cool otherworldly retro feel and vibe to it.
still sounds amazing to this day, rebirth is timeless :)
I love you taking what is essentially trash and making it work... Out. Joan's organ, these iMacs, the whole darn museum. Brovo! I just love it.
rebirth has a unique sound that can't be replicated with new tech.
That, was, epic! The changing chords tune hit all the right bits for me. Great sound.
This is like the coolest computer lab at school ever.
One thing you could exp with for the other two computer drums repacks is use sweetener samples or chords if it allows long enough sample length. :)
It's not scraping up old crap and making it good. It's catching things at the right stage of entropy, and making the best thing it could be. You're remaking the thing before it is history. Extra time for beauty.
Well this saves me the trouble of making the Macintosh Symphony Orchestra, well done good sir.
Looking forward to seeing more! I’d rather put old computers to work than put them in a box. Once I get around to replacing the capacitors on my 2004 iMac I’m making it a dedicated Reason 3 machine and just deleting all other previously installed software from before it died.
This didn't have me until around 8 min, but then.... maybe it was the single 909 clap. I was hooked. Love your controller.
Look Mum 3 COMPUTERS!! This sounded so cool, I loved how the different computers wen tin and out of sync with each other. Thanks so much for showing this off!
Oh man, love it so much. ReBirth was one of my favourite programs to sit and play, tweaking knobs endlessly…
Love that vintage sound.
Indeed a REBIRTH!
You are killing me man. Let's take old obsolete stuff and...
...
...
proof that it is NOT obsolete.
Impressive on mutiple levels.
Actually, what impresses me the most, is the MIDI standard, which is soooo old and still the backbone of electronic synthesizing music.
Modern systems are not that much advanced as one might believe it is.
Man, my deepest respect!
Awesome Sam, quite the set up you mad bugger! Respect to ya!
I swear down you are third aphex twin removed at rebirth.
Incredible beautifull signals passing into all these wire. Fantastic 👍
Fun Watch! Thanks for all you do!
Love this! Using the modpacks the other drumkits would easily be samplers for vocal hits, risers, etc!
RB-338 never sounded like this before. Now it found it's REAL purpose through decades.
The Time Has Come.
Awesome, this is really cool, great job, well done mate !
I hope you are proud of this, good sir. This is a beautiful instrument that breathes whole new life into nearly forgotten tech. Thank you so much for taking the time to ignore the consumeristic rush forward to reach backward and pull it toward us.
Each performance with these was absolutely beautiful - you've made something really special here.
Nearly forgotten tech?! Those computers are basically the same architecture as the one you used to type this post. This is not that impressive.
@@maskddingo1779 the software, while an old version of existing software is certainly only really remembered in nostalgia. Using it by interfacing with physical controls is certainly a new way to approach obsolete tech.
@@bricelory9534 Yes. My point was that this is not "forgotten technology", but rather very much the roots of what is still in use today. There is a lot of stuff out there that is actually "forgotten technology" in the digital music realm.
Brilliant mate, love your experiments!!
It would be so fun to see the iMacs flashing in sync with their audio, either by internally placed LEDs or by a strobe light placed under each iMac
Sounded really good 6:39
Mind blown...AGAIN!!
I got Rebirth working on Windows 10 a while back because I wanted to try the 303 implementation it had. Never really got to using it much yet, so this video definetly scratched that itch.
Would love seeing you build a Din Sync RE-303 (the guts alone cost about £211 if they weren't out of stock currently) or a x0xb0x. They are the closest you can get to a original Roland TB-303 on a reasonable pricepoint and sound arguably better than the real deal as they use new components.
I'd recommend seeking contact with the project's maintainers respectively if you are interested
That controller is the best
The poly-rhythms are giving me major Hearts of Space vibes 😁👍🏻
Sounds so cool i like it 9:07
Sounds so good.
Most excellent indeed sir! Rebirth was always a fun little suite and this is whole 'nother planet level stuff.
Certainly has potential for working into a set.
This would have been an incredible commercial for the iMac 😂 extremely inspiring, and beautiful patches/compositions!
In the 90s me and a friend had a band that was two laptops playing rebirth
Now you will have to rename the channel into LOOK MUM SOME COMPUTERS.
Love the tunes btw, they remind me of 90s EDM.
Look Mum - 3 computers! Rebirth is also available on IOS and PC.
I love the idea and the concept big time !! Only thing missing is a monster liveset composition and some dynamics and effects in order to make it sound more homogenous and the drums more persuasive.
Just amazing! Rebirth Magic!
majestic
Amazing
This is Epic been wishes we can book you a tour in the USA
I have rebirth on my old iPad 1, you can’t get the app anymore and I don’t have a charger cable to charge it up sadly. The version I have came with all the skins and upgrades so it would be nice to see it again.
Cool as heck and I love the spacey sounds.
Takes me back to Ralph and Florian
Awesome - I wish I had this much talent. At least it seems I am listening on the same (Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro?) headphones that you are monitoring on.
Awesome work 👏👍We definitely need a song 🧑🎤 with this setup🤞
you got the DJ waddle
rebirth comes on ipad too. imagine the noise you could make with all the throwaway ipads out there.
What's an ipad?
I was really excited about ReBirth when it was new. It looked and sounded great. But I couldn't figure out how to arrange a song on it or render a wav export or make more than a couple sounds at a time, so I dropped it and went back to a tracker.
Nice work fella
Wow!!!
mid-80s pop on late '90s PCs... in the early '20s.
Who else but Sam?
Class
Very inspiring! 🎶❤️🚀
Superb
The Powerpuff Girls on Acid ❤🔥🔥
those HDD sound like you are making coffee :D
Great video man! Loved what you did with rebirth. I'd love to see what you'd do with 30 iMacs! 😂😂
why u all the way over in UK??! so hard to find people of my tribe, keep up the good work!
lovely jams but also wow the Händel bit at the end??? can i listen to that in full somewhere?
Approved by TM404
Look mum 3 computers!
This one is a "look mum, yes computer", actually lol
ThreeBirth lol. I would have lost my shit seeing this 20 years ago
Can you try drum and bass, I really want to see it
Am I the only one who wants to see him use SynthLab on an Apple IIGS with that thing?
LOOK MUM ALL COMPUTER
@14:15 get the Border Community sound
Look Mum Three Computers
💥💥💥💥💥❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This is fuckin awesome.
Sounds nice
This is exactly what I'm doing but using Logic, this is fan fucking tastic \m/
new gen drtr? PMSL! yep, more and more proove coming out that we living in idiocrasy times🤣!
Bro can you decorate my living room ? 🤔
Someone get TM404 on the line for a colab!
the fact these are "Vintage" makes me old as fark
Dope than a mf! Salute!
Absolutely fantastic, mate! Looking forward to the music you make with this
Sam is both vintage and garage while still staying on the crest of the wave that is what we call electronic music. It's fantastic to watch
Give this man a Grammy
Give his nan an Emmy!
Give this man a spoon and a violin string!
Give him a granny
If you give him a Grammy I bet he will end up making some music with it:)
k-gramms!
Steve Reich on ReBirth! LOVE IT! Man, so much fun was had back in the ReBirth early days - still remember when new skins came out! Great video, as usual.
Yes I heard big Steve Reich vibes on this.
Came down to comment this, then realized someone else probably already had the same thought. Scrolled for a sec, and sure enough...
You know you are too early when youtube only has 360p option
you mean: "When 360p was the 'High Quality" option"
This is ace now, can you imagine how insane this set up would have been 20 years ago
While a little less elaborate than this, people were doing similar things when this and similar software were the easiest ways to get into music. It wasn't completely out of the ordinary for 2 people to bring their family PCs to a rave and just jam all night.
@@BeTheAeroplane aye look at some Justice in the 90s, Two Amiga computers and got into the pop charts.
@@infesticon I think that kind of shit is amazing. The start of the true revolution of getting music creation out of the hands of gatekeepers who want you to mop floors for 5 months before they'll even let you touch a fader.
@@BeTheAeroplane I used to do this with hammerhead and fruityloops
@@Alkatross That's sick!
Sir, you SPECIFICALLY promised mother this wouldn't happen.
Right there at 09:14 untill 12:25 (thats called a song) you got magical heat coming off your system, just love it! ❤
Either that, or maybe one or two of those old iMacs desperately need to be recapped :D :D. I expected at least one of them to blow a cap at any moment during that video! ;)
I've got 4 of those bloody iMac G3's knocking about, this looks like a well fun use for them!
I feel privileged to have seen you on this journey since you started it, and the livestream on Sunday. This is sounding incredible. Kind of a mellow feel to it. Trippy. The seeds of a new album!
Back in the day, I used Rebirth to teach synthesis and sequencing in an after school music program , along with an ancient program called Freestyle. This led me to be a beta user for the first version of Reason, which I still love and use today. I love that you built an analogue controller for Rebirth, a digital clone of analogue Roland 303,808, and 909. Brings me totally back to see and hear Rebirth after all these years- keep it going!❤
About screen refresh rate it's theoretically an easy fix: if the screen refresh rate is 60 hz the camera shutter speed should be set to 60.
Also try syncing the camera frame rate at either 60 or 30 fps. (But maybe UA-cam fps is different so it gets messed up when uploading the video?)
But you most likely already know about that …
You'd want half of it or under. If its exact same it would have the refresh line at same place always, any variation and it travels.
Would need some crazy genlock with the camera
flipping the power cord each one to the same direction maybe the three crts synchronizes the band... at least here in spain i can do it.
@@alberalber3853 i'd like to see a demo of that filmed as i don't see how it could with how a crt works and how the circuitry starts.
@LOOKMUMNOCOMPUTER, you're so totally creative! It's like someone spliced together Bob Moog's technical and engineering skills with both the synthesist and vocalist of a 1980s synth pop duo with a post punk band. I love it so much how hands on you are with your music. You basically DESIGN an instrument, BUILD IT and then PLAY IT. Wow!
That's a freaking sweet setup!
Beautiful Rebirth Magic!
I was playing with Rebirth a lot in 2003 alongside Reason 2.5, and you've made the memory of my 13 year old self so damn stoked! I would have had my mind blown by this set up back then, and it's no less amazing now
Simply AMAZING!!!... I have no words, This brought me back to when i first watched the movie "hackers" we all know it!!!... man your awesome!!! and THANK YOU!!!!
really amazing tunes! Funny coincidence, I have the same Roland mixing desk, but unfortunately mine is borked.
