The issue with the garbage was it couldn't find paths to where it needed to go. Since all the roads were built with Anarchy on, many of them didn't actually intersect, they just crossed each other, so vehicles couldn't go from one road to a different one.
@@theLOSTranger234 yeah, that's how the game works. A building puts out a call for a service, and a service building answers by generating a vehicle. The vehicle then tries to find a path to the call. If there is no path, it disappears. When a bunch of unreachable buildings are all putting out calls, it can jam up your services forever.
Can we get a mod maker to whip up a disaster mod where you can set the parameters and whatever you picked will randomly span every set time with absolutely no warning whatsoever? Matt will just be building and then boom, tsunami wipes out the buildings he just plopped down without him even knowing it’s happening. Chaos will reign.
The seweroutlet being the spot where the tsunamis gonna hit is pure comedy, the town angered the sea with the brown water and got it returned with extras
the auto demolish mod is the one thing that makes this game playable in my opinion. having to demolish destroyed buildings one by one is unbearable. you can recover 10x faster with the mod turned on.
The one problem with it is you don’t know where your buildings are getting abandoned or why. So if you’re just playing a regular city it can be hard to work out why those buildings were being abandoned and fix the issue.
@@Whiskers4169 Exactly. This feature is already in the game and I'm honestly not sure how you miss it if you interact with the disaster infrastructure at all (and if you don't well RIP citizens I guess).
Forcing people to live on a mountain which occasionally goes on fire with little to no services while a tsunami will certainly hit is a true Cities Skylines experience.
Tip for Matt: Coal plants need deliveries of COAL to function. A stable connection to the outside highway inlet will ensure that deliveries get there...unless they are wiped off the face of the map! ;) -P.S Fire houses DO NOT have jail cells!
At the beginning of the video he references his extended experience of fighting tsunami and proceeds not to apply it at all. No single channel or damb was built at all!
RCE if you see glitching vehicle numbers where the number trys to rise and then resets instantly to the previous one. Doesn't have to be 0 to 1 to 0. It can happen also later. It means that at least one building on the entire map is not connected to a road like it should be. This is a pathfinding issue and destroys all of your services. All services break.
This is something I hope is addressed in CSL2. It'd be nice to have stuff like island resorts that work properly with just ferries or airplanes connecting to the outside.
the problem here is that anarchy mode roads can break how roads intersect, your garbage collectors, police and fire engines didnt work because of that. Also some structures are far more resistant or downright invulnerable to tsunami damage, as you could see in the end there with the wind turbines.
I’d love to see another one of these disaster videos, but you actually using the disaster buildings. Evacuation and rebuild. See how much of a difference they actually make
Did you notice, that now when you click a few random citizens, some of them are "going to buy Cities Skylines II at *store-name*"?? Could be a nice myth for another episode of Real Civil Mythbuster :D
For me the first Tsunami was the sum of the severity 2 + the severity 9... So, in theory it was a severity 11 Cuz the severity 7 wasn't that destructive Next time every 10 minutes an earthquake appear randomly
I’ve never played this game, but living like 20 feet from the Pacific Ocean, I click on anything that mentions tsunamis. Hopefully my city’s engineer’s do a better job protecting me🤣🤙🏻
@@JoshuaGarsideI guess it’s called Cities Skylines. I’ve never played it, or heard about it, but that’s the name in the videos title so I guess that’s it🤷🏼♂️🤣

It doesnt matter if the road is green in this case with cop station because they will go to the end of the city if needed to respond to the call, green road just shows where it is more effective
My favirite thing about RCE is that he's given me the best insult ever. I call people "the strongest shape" and it sounds like a compliment but its not.
Just letting you know that, despite watching your videos daily, UA-cam didn't have it on my recommended page at all. I had to search for your channel, click into your channel page (because when I searched for your channel, it still wasn't listed in the results of your "latest uploads"), and find it through your uploaded videos tab. Not sure why UA-cam's terrible algorithm (or terrible content policies) seems to have so strongly disfavored this one for me, but I figured you might want to know. You're an awesome and dedicated creator, and your videos help me get through a lot of coding!
He never uses the features to save his population. Like this DLC has a whole feature set beyond the disasters themselves XD Like shelters, and buoys and such
Your biggest failure imo was not funding and prioritising for infrastructure to prevent the effects of the tsunamis (trenches, flood walls, landscaping etc.)
Tip: spam the “disaster recovery center” (under the firefighting & disasters tab) it will send helicopters and trucks to rebuild buildings for you do you don’t need to demolish after the disaster After the helicopters or trucks has been to each building, major buildings (anything that’s not from zoning) have a rebuild button when you click on it
how to survive a tsunami in city skylines: get to a insanely high ground. high mountains recommended. and search for a tall mountain that looks like a sand dam. and try to make it like a wall with reinforcement. and then add maybe a medium high wall on the top. with reinforcement connecting to the dirt/stone mountain. and maybe add a little roof on the wall to actually stop the tsunami from spilling to the city.
there should be a multiplayer mod for this and then the second player can just attack you without you knowing when as you are not the one looking at the timer
so guys there is a polt twist, so matt said everything got destroyed and only turbines survived, so heres the plot twist THE IMMORTAL SEA LANTERN SURVIVED
for these challenges you should see if theres a mod to automatically delete all the destroyed buildings, would make it easier and save time ( i guess it kind of counts as cheating but idk)
Idea for efficient public transportation: First, build "efficient" road infrastructure. Then, put two bus lines in each direction on that road. Now, one line would be going c*ckwise and the other one counterc*ckwise. *Efficient.*
I think these videos would be a bit more interesting if you gave yourself like 30 minutes or so to get set up before starting the disaster timer. When you're immediately struggling just to keep your head above water from the instant the first disaster strikes, it ends up feeling a bit samey. But if you had to deal with what you'd already built being slowly eroded as you struggle more and more with the disaster's severity, it'd feel more engaging in my opinion.
RCE should do a challenge where he has a limited water resource and has to make a million dollars before the people of the town use up all the water. Not allowed to add poo water to the clean water. Only water source is not allowed to have a water source block.
how about random disasters where the twice the severity is the bonus to the timer you get starting after the previous. so get a severity 4, you get 18 minutes. then a 8 adds 16 to make it 34. you either manage to recover well, or watch it go down cause random disaster means not much planning a defense.
I made a big city and then put 200 garbage places there was and army of garbage trucks and this all happened because one person saying there garbage was full… lol
Matt: I learned a lot from our previous experiences with Tsunamis
Also Matt: didn't build a single wall or contraption to stop the Tsunamis
when he makes those, he has mods turned on. with no mods it would take him hours to get enough money to even stop a tiny bit of the wave
huge point
RCE managed to create a city that alternates between being on fire and being flooded
That's called Australia.
Are we sure RCE isn't secretly a pharaoh?
@brendotheoffendo yeah it is to be honest
Australia released the new Coastal Japan DLC
The issue with the garbage was it couldn't find paths to where it needed to go. Since all the roads were built with Anarchy on, many of them didn't actually intersect, they just crossed each other, so vehicles couldn't go from one road to a different one.
we even saw once where a road went over a different road
there were garbage trucks leaving the dump, but as soon as they turned they just poofed out of existence,

I mentioned this last video. Just ask DougDoug to write him a script for the tsunamis.
