Not sure if anyone has mentioned it, but instead of floors you can use the poles/posts (whatever they are called) as a framework underneath the floor. That way just in case the ground isn't perfectly flat the floors will snap to the poles/posts instead and all the floors will be considered foundation and be blue. It's been a while since I've played so I hope that makes sense!
@ImFuckinLazy So was I! It's been a bit since I've played, but building wasn't super intuitive. Not sure if it's gotten better. Glad my comment helped you!
Regarding upgrading your crafting stations, each upgrade item can be placed in a proximity of about 3 floor tiles (2x2 ones). So u can hide them under the floor or in a basement, right under the crafting station. This saves a ton of space inside your house and looks less cramped.
For the smoke issue. You can build a fireplace on a wall and a chimney from the roof with a 26 degree roof piece to protect the fire from rain. It vents the smoke perfectly and gives the home a comforting asthetic.
After playing a ton of survival games the past idk how many years, i always just rush my first house day 1. Usually just a 3x4 space or so. It's almost always just a starter shack anyways once i find more fertile ground to lay down more permanent roots. I like how this game allows you to fix up a pre-existing location. I've made a bunch of outposts this way, but defaulted to my 3x4 shack since it's so routine for me.
my first day i caught on quick, fixed up a fishing hut i found, and i encountered the bed thing. i put the campfire right outside my door, as protection from mobs i thought, proceeding to trap myself in a burning house of death. I made it out and dived in the ocean, but burned to death anyways. this was my first death, i bought the game this morning. hence why i'm here in your video lol.
I noticed the building mechanic is semi realistic. If you use beams to build a framework of house, you can build bigger houses, taller houses with fewer vertical support. ESPECIALLY if it's core woord beams.
I like the random abandoned buildings in the game. At the start I tend to be rather nomadic. Having a lot of small camps made from pre-existing structures. I might have one spot I use to store all the stuff I gather, but I don't truly put down roots until I'm ready for the Black Forest. That's when I need to make a farm, raise a livestock population, and build smelters and kilns for ore processing. I've always been on the fence about whether to build my first real base within the Meadows or the Forest. The risk of the Forest is the Troll spawns, plus starred Greydwarves that spawn at night. Although maybe it's a good thing to face them bravely. Because if you make a base that can stand up to that, it can stand up to tougher raids later. Meanwhile building in the safety of the Meadows can leave you complacent and unprepared.
I fell in love with Valheim. It's such a cozy building/farming survival game, until you start fighting the bosses and exploring, after which it becomes an incredibly stressful corpse run simulator
Im trying to flatten the ground but it's not getting flat and I'm not sure why. The grass is gone so I know it's doing something. Can you only go so high or so low?
The level of the ground can only be raised or lowered 2 steps with the hoe from its original state. This is an intentional cap to prevent raising or lowering anything infinitely.
Hey Milton I been playing all day and it’s so lagging I play on Xbox , will it ever be optimized I can’t even fight over 3 mobs at a time the lag is so bad and when I sprint or it rains it’s completely unplayable and I love this game I want to play it so bad I don’t know how to fix it do I just need a PC ?
Not sure if you are able to change these settings on console but if you can change the following on the Graphics tab: Vegetation Quality - medium or low Particle Lights - low Shadow Quality - medium Active Point Lights - 15 Active Point Light Shadows - Low 0 I also have all of the options below those turned off. I would lower each of the above one level at a time to see if it helps. The game is definitely not optimized so expect some stutters here and there but it should be able to hold a decent frame rate.
I've just started but the trouble I'm having and it's putting me off is I have walked about collecting wood and stone but can only build a club an axe and something else no matter how much I pick up I cant build anything
It’s basically a count of how mamy additional objects are in a particular zone. Most building pieces add 3 instances. The terraforming thing he said is no longer true after an update, so terraforming doesn’t add instances anymore.
why cant i figure this game out? i cant even figure out what the controls are to build a workbench WHAT AM I MISSING i dont understand this at all. NO button brings up anything that allows me to build or craft anything other than a hammer a torch a club and a stone axe WTF
It is pointless talking about building anything at all, when you activate building, but 100% neglect to tell us how you actually activated it. What KEY activates it!!
I have been playing valheim for 70 days in game I don't know how much hours that is in real time maybe around 12-15 hours and I yust now figured out that the first boss gives u a power and all the others do ass well and The first boss is soo useful for going about now I must kill the tree man allredy found him in the skely cave i was able to find the tree man's GPS tracker so now he Gona finly die
"Everything You Need To Know To Get Started" Not... To actually access the build menu in the first place: 'Equip the Hammer' and then R-Click on the screen, smh! He does have some good information tho
honestly the building mechanics are ass in valheim. I'd say ark survival evolved still has the best out of all these years. then probably sons of the forest

Was super confused at first not gonna lie lmfao

bro, this video is a life savor.
Remember to repair damaged -Anything-, before you take it down. Free to repair, and only 100% structure gives back all the resources.
What a great video. I haven't had issues with building, but I never really thought of how to optimize and simplify it.
this really helps because I too made my first house too tall that made it hard to connect the roofs
My first time playing this game I loved in one of those stone structures where there’s bones on the ground😂
I prefer putting bed above head level. Leave a hole in floor undrr it so u can just point at it and hit sleep.
Wide open campfire in the middle of a large room... what could possibly go wrong?
I know, he might end up with smoke smell in all his clothes! smh
Thanks for the tips. Very helpful . Thank you
My first house is so low and my window just has a beam attached so I searched guide and this video is good
Its pretty cool that Ben Shapiro does lets plays
I fell in love with Valheim. It's such a cozy building/farming survival game, until you start fighting the bosses and exploring, after which it becomes an incredibly stressful corpse run simulator
I’m not sure if I’m high or if you’re speaking super fast 😅 I had to watch on 0.75x but nice tips!
this is a great tute but how do you even access the build menu???
Equip the hammer and click, this will bring up the build menu
Finally, I can play the game on the console.
Awesome video thank you
Im trying to flatten the ground but it's not getting flat and I'm not sure why. The grass is gone so I know it's doing something. Can you only go so high or so low?
The hoe flattening can only raise/lower so much, you need to add stone to raise or use the pickaxe to break downward past that.
The level of the ground can only be raised or lowered 2 steps with the hoe from its original state. This is an intentional cap to prevent raising or lowering anything infinitely.
@@mannysan6039 ok thank you
@@inspectorsteve2287 If you want actually numbers, it's 8 meters up or down
Thank you fo4 making this the preview just can to x box also are you still streaming?
I am just starting out, but how are you tearing down that house so fast? and how did you remove that floor piece so fast? please help thanks
Just spam click the mouse wheel button when you have the hammer equipped.
Finally a building game like conan.
What graphic settings are you using my valheim looks very different
I could be wrong, but I don't think terraforming increases instances, only objects.
Instances=objects
It used to affect instances, it doesn’t anymore though.

@@MediocreMilton hey sorry I didn’t reply quicker but I can’t change any of those things only bloom and shadows
See the mode to performance instead of quality and turn off depth of field. Those two cause it to run super slow but everything else is fine.
I've just started but the trouble I'm having and it's putting me off is I have walked about collecting wood and stone but can only build a club an axe and something else no matter how much I pick up I cant build anything
You need to craft the hammer to build structures and the workbench which unlocks armor and weapon crafting.
@@MediocreMilton thanks ill give that a go I struggle just being dropped in with no quests or tasks 😅
Pay attention to the raven. It points you where you need to go.
Quote the Raven, "Never more"
Dope if you could just make a chimney
What's an "Instance?"@2:27 ish?
It’s basically a count of how mamy additional objects are in a particular zone. Most building pieces add 3 instances. The terraforming thing he said is no longer true after an update, so terraforming doesn’t add instances anymore.

You need to craft the hammer and equip it to build
@@MediocreMilton the correct answer was RIGHT CLICK YOUR MOUSE then you can build a fucking stupid workbench UGH this is annoying ASFUCK
are you disabled
How the hell did you build he workbench out in the open....it tells me I need a roof over it?
So you can have it out in the open for using the hammer. But to interact with it requires a roof.
It is pointless talking about building anything at all, when you activate building, but 100% neglect to tell us how you actually activated it. What KEY activates it!!
What
Should have key prompts at the bottom right of your screen when you have a tool equipped. It's a default setting.
Equip hammer and right click. Assuming you’re on pc
Did you stop streaming? Miss that pink hoodie ... :)
He moved to streaming twitch only
My whole floor is red!! Noooooo!
There's me spamming the terraform button.
Me to lol I went ham on that hoe

“Everything you need to know” .. just builds a small crappy cottage 😂
Put ladders on the roof thank me later
