They will be changed in upcoming leaks and graphics will be better than shown in the video. I really liked the building designs. Castles and temples look fantastic. I am saddened to inform you that, based on the beta, its not far from the actual voice acting. So far, with the excsption of Ajax and Agamemnom, everyone sounds WORSE
To all who freak out - Please be patient and remember THIS IS A BETA "LEAK" so of course things here are not final (Especially when it comes to VA, it tends to be very late stage process) so it is possible some are placeholders, but honestly majority of them i personally like. The essence is there and i love it ^^ The original sounds are there too which just makes me smile. Graphics are just gorgeous what can i say, i am just happy to see this in motion as a non scripted gameplay.
Why is the narrator an 8 year old kid. The line "destroy the world" is just childish... While Athena sound like a 50 year old man. Athenas voice in old AoM was angelic in comparance :S
I like how the minotaurs now speak Greek, the new voice of the giants is also good. I don't like the cartoonish look of the titans though, and I don't like Athena's voice either.

as far as i know , these voices are most certainly for testing purposes . better keep the older ones though. They are gold. What i really want to be changed is the Cartoonish UI.
Kronos visually needs some fixing, that purple color looks weird on him, they should maybe rethink about that. I know propably that they don't want him to be confused with Prometheus with the new design and colors but give him some other color then this current purple, maybe the dark purple color he had on his original model with the myst the surrounded him, or give him the proper lava color he had in the original and add the purple myst effect as well. I hope also the height is temporary, he is suppose to the be bigger then the other titans. Yes and the voices for Athena etc need work. Rest look great.
I prefer myth units being bigger, but i'm pretty sure the community will do a resize mod when this releases (and ffs please let that be online compatible)

It feels like the color saturation is way too high on units which is making it look like Fortnite or some mobile game. Hoping for the best since the environments in this demo look better than the steam screenshots. I'd really like to know how they are implementing the new changes: - God power re-use - Is this on a timer? Returned when you age up? Purchasable at temple? etc - Increased pop cap - More population per house? Higher house build limit? More settlements? etc
Yea pop limit was lower than other aoe games. God power reused scares me and excites me at the same time. But it definitely add more mythical feeling to the game. My first complaint was colors too. Hoping it will be good
Look close on the units..... they canpush each other which looks kinda dumb to me. Hope they will fix this and also for the UI i looks generic asf no creativity at least it looks like that for me just copypasted from Age of Empires. Hope theyll redesign that :P
This truly feels/sounds like a Remake (or retold in their words). Gameplay looks smooth with vastly updated graphics. The music, ambiance, and lines are the same. I can hear original and updated voice lines and its looks beautiful. It doesn't seem like they are missing the mark on anything. You can tell there are clearly placeholder voices right now (The narrator and a few of the hero lines). The quality between the placeholders and what seem like finished lines is clear so Don't worry people. I, for one, am PUMPED based off of this Beta version.
I gotta say, I hope they keep the voices like the old AoM, clear and thematic, rather than natural sounding like it came from an studio, the old voices regardless of who did them were right on the spot so as long as the new voice actors sound right doesn't matters who is voice acting it, just as long as they don't try to do black vikings or European Egyptians or Asian Greeks. The meteor power looks like a firecracker with a bunch of dust, the old one was way fucking better, it would even flash when exploding, it had good visuals. The thunderstorm power should have a bit more visuals too. Seems like they are using the old sound effects, they worked for the old AoM because the graphics felt weak but now with the current graphics they should use different sound effects to emphazise that things are no longer built with cardboard polygons. Good to see the thunderstorm power prioritizing units instead of buldings and not just hitting around aimlessly. Destructible buildings like AoE3 DE good. Hopefully they add a way to differenciate unit's owners a bit better now that graphics are more complex and zooming out is an option.
Assuming the voice-lines are going to be replaced post-testing. Graphics are a definite upgrade - I feel like an even better impression would have been given at 1080p or above. One thing I wish they had changed a little is the crayon-like hues of the original team-colour palette, but I can live with it. I don't mind the purple glow to Kronos. I imagine that what they are going for there would look a little better at a higher res. Having said that, he is undoubtedly too short of stature here.
i hate you for it you can play and i not , i am so hyped like a little child, but its good to know voices are bag , esto , wulome and and and . some changes would by great on this but its iconic
Its been 22 years but the original AOM is still a fantastic game to play (except Tale of the Dragon) in 2024. Great amounts of work went into it, and the music is one of the best in its era.
Thanks for the leak, friend! The intentionally low effort placeholder VA seems to indicate the Devs are having fun with this one, which is a great sign.
I'm glad those are just placeholder voice samples, and the look of Kronos needs work tbh. Sure, in the original game, he looked like a shaved gorilla, (and so did Prometheus tbh) but at least he looked big and menacing. I know gaia isn't in this video, but I have seen pictures of her new design, and i'm really not a fan of her design change. She looked beautiful in the original game, now she looks like Groot. Also wish they'd change the Egyptian and greek titan models (cerberus should be a dog, and either Sobek or Apep should be the egyptan titan, not Ra/Horus). As for the Atlantean titan, they could have gone with Typhon instead of some crystal golem. Those manually activated special abilities though, I really hope we'll be able to set those to auto-cast, otherwise it's gonna be a nightmare to micro-manage.

What I hope is that we keep the original voice acting (this is all obviously placeholder) and personally I hope there is a tribute to Charlie Rocket who voiced Ajax (he died very tragically). Him and any other voice talent or developers who have since passed deserve to be remembered.

It's a LEAK. THEY ARE PLACEHOLDERS LOL. And as for it being Busy, what do you expect? It's a Real time strategy, with MANY MANY more units allowed than in the original AOM - up to 30 max per selection - 300 max per person. This is way beyond that. It's a LEAK, everyone relax. This is truly stunning.
Love the deconstruction animations so far. Especially when the meteors hit the buildings and parts of the building comes off. This really adds to the impact the god power has. The gigantic age button at the top is something I will have to get used to if it is to be implemented. Love the fact that they didn't change everything too drastically, but rather gave it a more updated look.

This has to be very very early development. In the beginning scene, The towers and the rock have almost no detail and look worse than the old AoM. I wish the person who uploaded this had zoomed in during the gameplay so we could see the details.

Bro i made Threads and complaints that the old hydra model needs to get improved cause it looked like a Dino back then in old aom. And I did this for 2 years. They at least gave the hydra those draconic/serpentine “ears” and made the head more drake looking instead of Dino. An improvement for sure! Still hoped they would let hydra look more like hydra from total war troy mythos or total war warhammer dark elves but it’s less Dino looking at least ^_^
I was hoping they would make some improvements ideas they learned over the time from aoe 2 de and aoe4 and put them into game for better gameplay and more competetive ranked and not just copy paste only aom content with improved graphics aom is not ranked competetive ready and honestly falls off compared to aoe4 it better be more than just improved graphic for outdated 2002 game

Ranked games are what keeps game alive and fresh with updates From what i have seen aom online experience tournaments ranked looks subpar right now with poor balance state and kinda stale gameplay with less strategic options and more linear gameplay like the whole chinese fraction needs complete overhaul , some units and playstyles for fractions needs rework to make them actually interesting its just outdated and as someone who plays mostly online games and not campaign thats just a bummer

They want flashy easy to get into game with alot of content like fps mobas or some mobile games with quick ONLINE matches. Online ladder and presence are just very important singleplayer dies after 2 months after people are done with campaigns If you dont have friends and just spends hours in singleplayer campaigns replaying them over and over to feel nostalgia its fine but that definitely doesnt bring any new players to the game what kid with adhd in current year will buy the game to play some old ass rts campaigns ? no one. Most time i spent in rts was in custom online warcraft 3 scenarios that was fun and thats what kept wc3 alive for very long time before it was ruined by blizzard cuz of greed.

I wish they have an option to toggle between original voices and retold voices (Odysseus just sounds uncanny ngl) (the OG campagin voices away too funny and iconic), same goes with UI to have a more legacy UI layout and look, also the UI gives huge vibes of Age of Empires 1 DE which it gives me a bad vibe, they coudlve make it to resemble more the OG to be more diferent, the huge green button idk, its way too big also why is it green, it wouldve look amazing if it was Golden or something, also I think the way Age of Empires 3 DE made with the location of the resources is much better since you would be looking at map most of time (or at least I do), the unit icons are fine, but I dont understand the glow some units have in their icons, like Bull Minotaur have....green aura, same with Giant, I think it should be deleted since the diference between normal human and myth units is day and nigh? and heroes a Golden Aura is fine but I think is too much for some heroes like Ajax which blends way too much with the aura, maybe a less bright aura would be better or have only Atlantean heroes (Since they are just normal units becoming heroes) have the glow like the original

I am hoping there will be some sort of blood I understand they have gone more chill (family friendly) but I wouldn’t say there is any harm having it, I miss the little details that AOE 1/2 had; bones, blood, slowly decay. I know this sounds stupid but it did add a lot of detail than you would realise. AOE 4 took it away and kinda one of the reason it put me off, wasn’t a fan of that one anyways for other reasons.
@@marjimanrts yea, haha I mean they wont ruin the game for me if they dont add it, but both AOM had blood so it would be weird to not add it. Mods can be 50/50, either make the game crash/unstable or needs constant update depends on how many times the game gets updates, so it’s annoying for mod creators to keep up.

I love how the units path through each other and slightly move each other. It looks so realistic and gives each unit the feeling of weight.

And as for it being Busy, what do you expect? It's a Real time strategy, with MANY MANY more units allowed than in the original AOM - up to 30 max per selection - 300 max per person. This is way beyond that.

Love the deconstruction animations so far. Especially when the meteors hit the buildings and parts of the building comes off. This really adds to the impact the god power has. The gigantic age button at the top is something I will have to get used to if it is to be implemented. Love the fact that they didn't change everything too drastically, but rather gave it a more updated look.

This has to be very very early development. In the beginning scene, The towers and the rock have almost no detail and look worse than the old AoM. I wish the person who uploaded this had zoomed in during the gameplay so we could see the details.

Bro i made Threads and complaints that the old hydra model needs to get improved cause it looked like a Dino back then in old aom. And I did this for 2 years. They at least gave the hydra those draconic/serpentine “ears” and made the head more drake looking instead of Dino. An improvement for sure! Still hoped they would let hydra look more like hydra from total war troy mythos or total war warhammer dark elves but it’s less Dino looking at least ^_^

I was hoping they would make some improvements ideas they learned over the time from aoe 2 de and aoe4 and put them into game for better gameplay and more competetive ranked and not just copy paste only aom content with improved graphics
aom is not ranked competetive ready and honestly falls off compared to aoe4

From what i have seen aom online experience tournaments ranked looks subpar right now with poor balance state
and kinda stale gameplay with less strategic options and more linear gameplay
like the whole chinese fraction needs complete overhaul , some units and playstyles for fractions needs rework to make them actually interesting its just outdated and as someone who plays mostly online games and not campaign thats just a bummer

A rly small portion of players spend hundreds-thousands of hours in single player scenarios, times have changed. Most of the people play games for online content nowadays and thats what bring the money and keeps games alive.
Rts playerbase is small simply because it doesnt appeal to most people and kids nowadays and kids are the biggest part of gaming community as they have the most free time to play . They want flashy easy to get into game with alot of content like fps mobas or some mobile games with quick ONLINE matches. Rts not being popular now has nothing to do with ranked and competetive Rts genre just doesnt appeal to current youth and is mostly played by older playerbase which grew up playing rts games.
Online ladder and presence are just very important

If you dont have friends and just spends hours in singleplayer campaigns replaying them over and over to feel nostalgia its fine but that definitely doesnt bring any new players to the game

Most time i spent in rts was in custom online warcraft 3 scenarios that was fun
and thats what kept wc3 alive for very long time before it was ruined by blizzard cuz of greed.

Yes it's totally similar to other age of empires games in that aspect. Has a population limit. Still big.
Buildings are not limited in any game. Only unit population

I wish they have an option to toggle between original voices and retold voices (Odysseus just sounds uncanny ngl) (the OG campagin voices away too funny and iconic), same goes with UI to have a more legacy UI layout and look, also the UI gives huge vibes of Age of Empires 1 DE which it gives me a bad vibe, they coudlve make it to resemble more the OG to be more diferent, the huge green button idk, its way too big also why is it green, it wouldve look amazing if it was Golden or something, also I think the way Age of Empires 3 DE made with the location of the resources is much better since you would be looking at map most of time (or at least I do), the unit icons are fine, but I dont understand the glow some units have in their icons, like Bull Minotaur have....green aura, same with Giant, I think it should be deleted since the diference between normal human and myth units is day and nigh? and heroes a Golden Aura is fine but I think is too much for some heroes like Ajax which blends way too much with the aura, maybe a less bright aura would be better or have only Atlantean heroes (Since they are just normal units becoming heroes) have the glow like the original

I am hoping there will be some sort of blood I understand they have gone more chill (family friendly) but I wouldn’t say there is any harm having it, I miss the little details that AOE 1/2 had; bones, blood, slowly decay. I know this sounds stupid but it did add a lot of detail than you would realise. AOE 4 took it away and kinda one of the reason it put me off, wasn’t a fan of that one anyways for other reasons.

@@marjimanrts yea, haha I mean they wont ruin the game for me if they dont add it, but both AOM had blood so it would be weird to not add it. Mods can be 50/50, either make the game crash/unstable or needs constant update depends on how many times the game gets updates, so it’s annoying for mod creators to keep up.
