@@karenoreilly9115 Hi! In the app, towards the bottom right of the screen you will see a brown McDonalds Bag with a red number denoting which deals or items you have in your online order. Tap on that, and then remove the items from the list. Once that is done then the code that shows up will be strictly for whatever you choose to order at the drive through. Hope that helps!
Some cashier/ management don't even know how to use the app, I tried it and the lady at the register didn't know the system...ridiculous, a manager at that. I never knew we can skip the register by using the app with the card link
In this video I'm just showing you how to pay with the McDonalds app, but you can go ahead and order still at the drivethru. I have another video where I walk through how to order ahead too. You have 2 options!
You can still accumulate points by showing the QR code at the register, or provide the drive through code. If you don't have a linked card setup, they will likely just ask you to pay cash at the first window.
each code expires within a certain time, so they probably just have a random code generator for each user that is kicked off when you initiate it. Then if the time elapses, and you still need a code, it just grabs a brand new one and retires the old one.
@@anatomyoftheswipe the mcdonalds employee enters the code on their pos. I'm guessing it uses wifi direct to connect to your rewards app to get the payment method. Similar to apps like Send Anywhere that uses a 6 digit code or qr code.
@@xlr8nflo I think you are right. It must be tying the 4 digit code and your geolocation or something that determines it is you, and links to your account. However they are doing this, I think it is pretty incredible. Starbucks is trying to implement something similar, because with their App, you still have to hold up the phone at checkout and they have to scan the barcode. Kind of awkward in a drive thru, McDonald's implementation is really good!

Exactly what I'm wanting to do. You don't get any discounts by just driving through to pay in cash. The only way I was able to do this was when my card got declined through the app.
