People have been asking me for months to make a new Fast Food video, so if you enjoyed this video, please give it a THUMBS UP as it helps me in the UA-cam algorithm! 😀 What are some of your fast food secrets?? Comment Below 👇
Hey Matt, @The Deal Guy I have a question not related to this video, do you have a suggestion for a good price tracking app, or one to notify you of price drops? I'm interested in finding one to take advantage of price matching policies, as well as new purchases that I don't mind waiting until they are discounted.
My mom gets circulars at her house that has Burger King coupons in them. She hoards them as it is her favorite and only fast food joint she voluntarily goes to. The deals are surprisingly pretty good and we often end up getting meals for two folks out of it or something one of us wants. My mom lives in a suburb near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA (for reference and any Intl folks out there). There is a Burger King by me but it’s not very close and I don’t have a car. I also don’t get circulars. I suspect it is because I live in an apartment building in an urban area across from New York City, NY(USA). Actually, that is a question that I have. My sister and mom get physical and digital coupons from Ulta and Bath and Body Works all the time. I spend way more at BBW in one shot but they do go more often then I do. Do you think that influences what coupons they get or is it due to where we live? I live in what is considered an urban economic development zone. Oddly, my town is juxtaposed with luxury high rises in random spots.
Another Culver's tip: If you get the kids meal, ask for your ice cream with the meal... sometimes they forget to take off the free scoop coupon from the bag so you can use it later!
What a GREAT Chipotle hack!!! Thanks, Matt. I will be sharing this idea with my daughter who loves Chipotle. And, who doesn’t love FREE SAUCE!! Now, if you can find a way to get free sauce at Cane’s. Lol. It’s so good! Thanks for another great video sir.
"My favorite way to save money going to Starbucks is to never go to Starbucks." With those words you have gained my complete trust and have shown me you are a man of unimpeachable integrity. Seriously, even though I adhere to those words a bit more tenaciously than you, your honest and unbiased evaluation of these fast food joints has to be the standard to which all other reviews should be held. I sincerely hope I am able to try out a few of these hacks before eating at the locations presented stills my heart via hardened arteries. Thanks, Matt, for the absolutely invaluable information you provide.
And he and his family are just so precious and adorable...and he helps his folks with their hard water problems...could he be a better son or husband or dad??.❤❤❤❤❤❤😏
@@josuebrown6001 I had to quit drinking coffee entirely. I never thought I could do it. I actually don't miss it. (switching to crystal meth kinda took the edge off those nasty caffeine withdrawals - KIDDING)
The fact that you didn't take up half the video with an intro or explaining everything you already say in the title of the video is great. Right to the point and so much info, not even stretching any. Earned a follower
Red flag is how we can ring up individual items such as your toasted bun and a slide of cheese as it’s not in the system. Long story short red flag is a system override for a la carte items
I find that when I am friendly (which I always am) to workers they do more for me. Many times the person before me was a real jerk and I’d pull the mom card and try to cheer them up. Many times it helps! 😉
I wish more people realized that being kind in small interactions would make huge changes overall. I used to work in call centers for everything from health insurance to tech support for 20 years if someone cared enough to not be a butthead I would go all the extra miles and it made my day better to help someone kind. If someone was rude I will do the bare minimum, within reason, and... we note accounts in code so other people know that they are a jerk!
My sister works at a Macdonald's and some of her customers are wonderful...managerial staff...not so much!! Thank you for being kind to the workers and Pleasedrive close to the window when confirming and paying for your order and at the pick up window....it's cold while you are checking your pockets and looking into you bag to be sure it is your order!! Lol...❤❤❤
Ex wendys employee here. A great trick is to use the coupons. They have often times coupons that say "free ___ with any purchase" These purchases can be anything and if you load the coupon to scan on the app and ask for a Jr key tag, and purchase ONLY a Jr frosty (some locations sell them for only 29 cents), you can end up walking away with 2 frosties plus a baconator fries, nuggets, or sometimes a burger for 31 cents after tax.
They had a promotion once for a free burger with any purchase and I probably spent no more than 10 bucks on 30 burgers and 60 frosties (which went straight into the freezer) that month. You'll also get rewards points for doing this. It is also possible to use your rewards points with a "with any purchase" coupon to get 2 items for free on the app. The downside to this is that the manager will hate you and might argue with you but I've been doing this for 4 years and have never been turned away, just questioned.
I love using the Wendy apps for the rewards and free coupons. Did something similar when they had the frosty boo books (or whatever they call them). Used a coupon for a free cheese fry with purchase and bought a $1 frosty boo book. So for $1 i got cheese fries and a book of like 5 Jr frosty coupons.
A friend always used the Culver’s Kids Meal trick. She told me an added bonus is if you ask for the custard with the meal, they usually leave the coupon attached to the bag, which you can use on a future visit. So you can get TWO custards with this hack.
I've worked Food service most of my adult life: waitress & bartender. I will always look for a way to save my customers money, especially families with kids & elderly. Each restaurant has "hacks" that will save you money & most employees always know what to order to save a buck...so be nice to your server no matter if a 5* restaurant or a fast trip to McDonald's! But remember its not a hack if your server is spending extra ten minutes deconstructing your meals. These are great tips!
My GF and I did the Chipotle hack for lunch today. We ordered thru the app. You can ask for extra rice, beans, cheese, salsa and lettuce to really pack it up for no extra charge. I put half of the bowl on the wrap fora burrito and my GF ate the rest of the bowl, it was awesome. Thank you Deal Guy 👍
This is the way. Also, barbacoa and carnitas are the hardest meats to portion, you will almost always get an oversized portion. Maximize this by ordering half carniats/half barbacoa, along with extra everything else. It can be 3/4 meals for the price of one. Also, I miss when Chipotle tortillas were free.
You can do something close to the same with Hot Head, but they charge it as if you ordered the double wrap. Extra cheese costs extra, but you can get a decent amount extra if you order it with a mix of the cheeses there. I tend to prefer Hot Head to Chipotle, their prices, also, tend to be slightly better overall.
Being nice to fast food workers is definitely a good thing. I love to throw in a tip of a dollar or two (especially when you can tell they're sad or having a bad day) which often brightens my own day seeing their surprise and gratitude.
As a former fast food worker, ( I worked for White Castle) I appreciate customers like you not for the tips, but taking the time of day or night to ask how we are and to try and make our days better. It goes a long way and it means more than others realize, so thank you very much. It turns a very stressful day into a pretty darn good one.
For Chick-Fil-A, the buns are toasted in advance and the cheese is cold for obvious reasons. If you tried a "grilled cheese" again, I'd recommend asking for a double toasted bun so it's warm instead of room temperature. Not immediately opening the foil bag will let the heat from the warm things melt the cheese.
sometimes during really super slow times or closing hours, someone will use the grill to make an actual grilled cheese. we normally clean it after to prevent any kind of “cross contamination”
Hi!! I work at Chick-fil-A and have for 12 years!! That "red flag" on your receipt is something we alert the kitchen that is special about your order. It is also something that we cannot traditionally ring up and have to manually enter in the register. We love to customize orders to the best of our ability and we do not have a black list, even though some of us wish we did for certain individuals LOL
You know for the chick fil kids meal, if you order your drink as a lemonade with no ice and add your ice cream you can stir up your own frozen lemonade, just like the one on their menu I do this all the time with my kids meal.
A Starbucks refresher is just the drink base, water, ice and the berries. If you ask for no water or ice they’ll typically fill it to the top with just the base, so you can add water and ice to make multiple drinks.
Also, when you order the ice cream cup in place of the toy at Chick-fil-A ask for cookie crumbles on top…that’s a McFlurry-ish treat with no added co💲t
So I work at my local Culver’s (usually in the kitchen) and I can completely vouch that the kids cheese burger is literally the exact same thing as a normal single butter burger, absolutely no size difference but it won’t come with a regular fry it will come with a small fry, but the their is maybe 4-7 more fry piece difference from the small and regular fries
When you go to Rasing Canes you can get the 4 finger combo and substitute the coleslaw for another piece of toast. And another fun fact there is a secret menu item called “BOB” means “Butter on Both Sides” so the Texas toast taste so much better!!!!
you can also substitute any of the sides for other sides. In the combos you get chicken, plus 3 sides, and you get to pick them (toast, slaw, or fries)
This was beautiful to hear :D When I go by myself I feel like I'm paying too much. Glad to hear that it's the other way around when you go with more people.
One of my favorite hacks at chipotle is to wait until they scoop my meat onto my plate, then politely ask for double meat. This way, they already showed me how much the first scoop was, and have to do it again for the second scoop. I get much more meat now then when I would just ask for a double serving at the start
At Raising Cane's, my girlfriend and I order the Caniac combo (6 strips) and substitute the coleslaw with extra fries. It comes with a large drink so we are able to share this one combo for under $10.
At McDonald's... Buy a 1.59 Mc Chicken then ask for a little buffalo sauce (usually you get those free when you get the food,) then boom a buffalo chicken sandwich for 1.59
Spoiler alert they don’t actually care about the charity. Big corporations use customers “donations to charity” as tax rights off so they can pay less in taxes which is probably why they don’t want to promote a 2$ key tag for charity that will cost them money by the end of the year with all the free frostys
@@cgpxae2119 Guess what Evan, churches claim to be charities (they are actually just fronts to push their religion) and they don't pay ANY taxes at all. Charities have been given legal tax breaks, it's designed that way. Why wouldn't they take advantage of a tax break if they can help kids? I know I would. It's kinda stupid to say they don't care just because they get a tax break. And no, the free frostys won't cost them money they cost almost $0 to make and people usually buy other overpriced fries, burgers etc that makes up for the 10 cents the frosty cost Wendy's
as someone who has tested the fries thing at mcdonald's numerous times over the years, they are not close to equal. the amount you got there for the small is almost twice the amount that one would normally get for a small. the person that filled your order just put way too much in the small. the medium is correct amount though.
@@orchNEStra I work at McDonalds, and yes, it is extremely inconsistent. We're barely trained for preciseness. We have 0 time to double check how many fries we put into the fry boxes/bags. Sometimes, a stuffed small fries may come even more than a loose medium fry. or your small fry may have barely anything, and the medium fry ends up being stuffed. My issue with "McDonalds life hacks" are that they're extraordinarily inconsistent due to being franchised-owned. The Sausage and Egg McMuffin tip in this video... At our store, you'd be wasting like $3 if you did this.
Right! I think he just got hella lucky. Last time I went to McDonalds and ordered small fries, the bag was like half full (and it's a pretty small bag to begin with) and most of them were the tiny little crispy ones that I can't really chew well, AND they were entirely stale. I was starving and ate them anyways of course but was sooo disappointed. Haven't been back since and that was months ago.
Dude my mcds is so skimpy with their fries especially when you use their weekly $1 large fries coupon. It's like they have a batch ready just for those customers to give them half filled boxes of old twice fried crunchy ass fries 🤢
When I worked at McDonald's we referred to giving hearty scoops of fries or extra nuggets as "Blessing people." We'd either just do it normally or give them to nicer customers.
I get the kids meal all the time at Culver’s. I even finally convinced my friend to buy it. The smaller drink is no big deal if you dine in, can refill multiple times if you want. If you look at their prices ala carte, you really realize what a deal it is. The burger alone is $3 if purchased separately. And if you save the other tokens from the bag, every 10 kids meals you get a free one. Another great reason to get it.
For your CFA question on the Red Flag, no, you're not on some type of watch list. The Red Flag is a button we press to place options on food items not regularly on the menu. For example, if you wanted chocolate on your ice cream cup (which isn't seen on the menu) you could Red Flag the ice cream cup and add chocolate on it. No one's gonna put you on a hit-list for asking for an extraneous item. We got you!
@@Malhaloc @Malhaloc I'll be happy to answer that question for you! So yes, a good number of us are nice, welcoming, and fun people to meet, converse, and hang around. But we are still people, after all. I'm not saying we don't get upset, nor will we have a smile from cheek to cheek 24/7. It's not an act - we are all just great people to get along with for us and for you! Genuine hospitality is important, after all!
Here's a Wendy's hack. You can order the four for four, and sub out the fries for a chili, any type of potato or a side salad. I always get the chili. It's such a good deal.
A Starbucks hack I was told years ago: My friend once told me to order two grande size cups, the ice separately from the coffee, if you want it iced. So like one cup with coffee and the other with ice. It's cheaper since Starbucks does not charge ice or water and usually when you order an iced drink, the cup is mostly ice rather than your drink. So just make sure to mix them up in a bigger container and you have pretty much a vendi size iced drink but for less the prize.
I worked at B King as a teenager in the 80’s, we would make “grilled cheese” sandwiches all the time. Ask them to put the inside of the bun through the broiler/toaster and then flip the buns over so the ‘inside’ of the bun would be the ‘outside’ of the grilled cheese! Yum! You can also order inside & ask for a cheeseburger minus the meat and the cost of the meat should be taken off of the order. Also……Mocha Shakes! For the BK’s that have coffee shakes (vanilla w a scoop of coffee syrup), order a chocolate shake with a scoop of coffee syrup added! Makes a delicious mocha shake!! Coffee shakes just might be a Rhode Island thing though….we do things a bit differently🤣🤣
When I want a Big Mac, I order a mcdouble tell them to add special sauce and lettuce. It saves me at least 2 dollars. If I want a meal, I get that, order value fries for 1.00 and a large value drink for 1.00. So, It is like a junior Big Mac meal for under 5.00 plus tax!
Nice! I’ve been doing the Chipotle one for years. Extra tips: When getting rice and beans I ask for extra, which I usually follow up with a couple “more please” and “another scoop please”. Once they’ve piled the bowl to the brim I have them put as much corn as they can, filling in all the cracks and I also ask for corn in a side cup which is free. I also ask for 3 crunchy taco shells on the side which is the same price as one large tortilla because I like having the variety. 👍🏼
The Chipotle "hack" I have been doing for years. When I found out you could get tortillas on the side, I started getting 2 like you did. At one place, I would get 3. My burrito bowls from the hefty place would have enough stuff to make 4 burritos. So one burrito bowl would turn into 4 meals. 💯% SCORE!
same. i now do double everything except for meat / guac / queso, because they can charge extra for that, and then get a tortilla on the side or taco tortillas on the side. and roll my own. usually end up with a fat burrito + regular sized bowl.
I work at chipotle all menu items get the same amount of protein (meat options) one scoop. Most people don't know this but you can get as many scoops of beans rice and veggie options as you'd like! Bowl or burrito it's the same.
The only "hack" is actually doing the opposite of what he did and DONT order online. For online orders we make everything super small espically if it's a busy location to save time from continuously restocking.
I think this depends on where you are. At McDonald's in Australia, adding fudge and M&M's to a sundae actually comes up to a very similar price, very much depends on what specials are up. Also meals do cost less than everything separate- havent finished the video but this is so common! I used to combine items into meals so as to reduce the price, it is real trust mee Edit: The fry sizes are different! Very very different but it is so easy to over fill smalls. Generally frowned upon though. Also you can just ask for a sauce after you order and it's free :)
As a former canes employee, the hack did in fact work if you look at it this way. The sandwich combo and the three finger combo are the same price but with those substitutions on the sandwich combo you get an extra toast for the same price. A few years ago the sandwich combo was actually just a bit cheaper to add to those savings.
These tips are great. I like having a lunch box 12V oven in my truck. It helps to warm food or to keep it warm. Melts cheese and toasts. At 300 degrees it finishes cooking meat or veggies which comes in handy not only for cooking food on the go but to finish cooking a hotdog or other meat that may have not been cooked thoroughly. The lunch box ovens are sold on the internet as well as some truck stops. Aluminum foil and pans are items helpful to use with the appliance.
I actually threw away my 12 bolt oven in my truck. The reason was simple. I tested it before I used it in the truck and it turns out that thing was sucking way too much juice out of my battery. If you got two batteries in your car truck then you might be okay. Or if you have some solar panels on the top of your vehicle then you might be okay. But I don't have any of those things in my Tahoe so I ended up getting rid of that stupid 12 volt oven.
Thank you for these hacks! My husband who, for some reason, is unable to pass a fast food restaurant without swinging in, greatly appreciated these, especially McDonald's & Chick-fil-A.
As a former Raising canes employee, the sanwhixh hack definitely works. Its either the same price or a few cents less to order a sandwich with no lettuce, sub toast and sauce on side instead of a 3 finger combo AND you get 2 pieces of toast except 1! Don't forget to BOB your toast! (Butter on boths sides)
To save the .50 on the tortillas you could just keep a pack at home. It's so easy to replace half of this stuff at home and you'll get more for your money. Just making this stuff at home in general saves you money if you normally just eat it at home anyways.
I tried your Chick Fil A Hack yesterday. 2 chicken strips and the multi grain bun instead of the sandwich. Totally worked and about 2 bucks less!! Also, JUST did the survey for a free sandwich the next time. THANK YOU!!
My favorite is burger patties from Wendy’s. Just ask for a “Large Patty”. Can range anywhere from $1.29 - $2. Can also add cheese, bacon, etc. a la carte. Great for keto/carnivore.
Another hack at Raising Cane's is that you can swap out coleslaw (a lesser food item) for an extra Texas toast (superior food item). I take advantage of it literally every time I visit the restaurant.
I'm going to start ordering the kids meal after watching this video. I've been looking for ways to cut down on portion sizes and reheating food later doesn't work for most fast food.
@@BillGreenAZ you might need to do it though a drive through or order online. They have safe maximums in many places, which isn't fair when it's the only way to get a smaller portion
Decades ago, a Quarter Pounder without cheese was my staple lunch item while at Uni. A few years after that, only the Quarter Pounder with Cheese was on the posted menu, which meant I always had to pay more money for my Sandwich - no discount given for ordering without cheese. After 30+ years of this, I placed my order one day and the cashier said, " Oh wait, I just saw that button somewhere." And she found it - and it charged me less money. Thieves all those years!
To add to the chipotle one, a big hack came out a while back that I've used ever since and I can confirm it makes a huge difference. You order half and half on everything , rice, beans, meat, and then load it with whatever toppings you want. When they give you half scoop it's usually more like 3/4. So you end up with at least 50% more. AND if you ask for a side tortilla when you pickup your food instead of ordering it in the app, you get it fresh, instead of the balled up 20 minute old one they give you if you order it in the app. AND it's free. You pay for the meal you ordered on the app, and you say "Hey, I forgot, could I get 2 side tortillas?" and they'll just give it to you, instead of bothering to get the 50 cents.
Having worked at Chipotle and been a manager there for 2 1/2 years I can tell you if you’re nice and smile you can ask for extra of anything (except meat, guac, and queso) and they usually won’t charge for it. Had a guy come in every day and get 4x rice and 3x beans but he was cool and never left a mess
is it cheaper to order half of beans rice and meat? I dont understand why not try to get the full amount (when chiptole is already stingy especially with ordering in the app) if its the same cost at the end
You can also order extra of anything except meat, guac, and queso for no charge. If In store you can get like extra extra rice I usually ask for like 3x amount of cheese and corn salsa.
I have night school a couple nights a week after my dayjob as an Electrician, unfortunately I don't always get to eat a nice hot meal at home, so these tips are great for a guy like me that has to eat out more than he'd like to. Thanks for bringing all these to us, sir!
I work at Culver's and I often tell our guests the kids meal is the best deal, also, a cool tid bit, when you order a chicken salad of any type, you can swap out the chicken for another protein(except for fish) at no extra cost.
Brilliant work. The embedded humor really makes this info pop. The report card was hilarious. Your vids are always fun and informative. Thanks for all that you do!
The frosty key tag secret isn't entirely true. It does say "with any purchase", but you can actually buy nothing to get the frosty. Also, if you happen to buy more than one frosty tag, you can actually redeem them all at once for a larger size. For example, if you buy 4 frosty key tags ($8.00) you can redeem all four to get a large instead of 4 juniors. Best part about it is that all the money you pay for it is going to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.
i used to work at a chick-fil-a, and fun fact about the grilled cheese thing, Some places actually have that as a secret menu item in the extra portion of their operating system, mine did. they even had white and wheat options with only a 10 cent price difference and my store had the ability to properly cook them, they literally just flattened them on the grill till the cheese melted. Also the red flag thing isn't a warning or list of any sorts, its put there to grab the attention of the employs on the inside. We used them for things such as allergy notices or trying to accommodate special changes that weren't directly on our ordering operating system, such as gift cards, which cant be wrung up outside sometimes, or if they wanted extra empty boxes/salad containers/drink cups to split with family members.
@@hollysturm7566 strange, I wonder if it was just my store then, or if it's a random few select ones that do it. Either way the videos way to do it should still work even as an employee, you should see if they'll make you one on your break since they're so cheap ^^
I mix my leftover sauces to make meatloaf sauce. A little taco bell hot sauce, a couple random ketchup packets, some barbecue sauce... whatever. Nobody has ever figured it out and my meatloaf remains loved.
I used to work at chik fil a and no one knows you can exchange the toy for an ice dream and it's honestly so much ice cream. Also if you like iced coffee ask them to use 'shake base' instead of cream for the best iced coffee you have ever had.
I'll definitely be using the McFlurry, Culver and Chick-fil-a hacks. I've been using another Chick-fil-a hack for months now . . . two chicken strips and a bun on the side. Saves me $1 each time compared to a regular chicken sandwich and there's no pickle nor is it soggy. * the side bun is on the a la carte menu. Something to keep in mind if you order this way and the employee doesn't know where the side bun is located.
Another Culver's tip: If you get the kids meal, ask for your ice cream with the meal... sometimes they forget to take off the free scoop coupon from the bag so you can use it later!
Not a fast food hack, but in most sushi restaurants they have a "bento" option (which is just like a meal box) if you enjoy sashimi, oftentimes they have sashimi as an option (sometimes a small up charge) it will usually be way cheaper that ordering the sashimi entree. Example at my local sushi place 8 pc sashimi is 25$, but with my hack you can get a 6 pc sashimi for 15$ both meal come with rice salad and soup
Another add to the Chipotle hack that I've been doing for years: Chipotle only charges extra for meat and guac Soooo, order the bowl with the tortillas on the side... when they scoop the rice I ask for extra, same with the beans and toppings, the final product is more than enough for two or more burritos. Request that they do not heat the tortillas before they pack them otherwise they will stick to itself and make it hard to open, just heat on your own later prior to use. Also, if you do decide to pay the extra fee for double meat wait to tell them that until after they've added the first scoop of meat this way you are truly getting the full extra portion you are paying for :)
You didn’t mention it, but for the McDonald’s birthday cake, you have to call them well in advance. They don’t store cakes in the store unless a birthday party reservation has ordered one. They have to be ordered and delivered. So you need to call Atleast 4 days in advance to picking them up so the store can order it.
Don't forget that at McDonalds if you are willing to spent a little time, order your drink first from the kiosk and your receipt should have a code on it to get a buy-one-get-one free 1/4 pounder or egg McMuffin deal if you fill out the survey ... takes like 5 min to do and you can enjoy your drink while you fill it out.
Always ask for Fries with NO Salt at many Fast Food Restaurants and you’ll get fresh Fries not one’s that has been setting in the pan with grease and salt caked on. A 2nd tip is ask for no ice in your drink the beverage is always pre-chilled and you get some beverage.
@@happycook6737 why go to multiple places most of the time the combo meals soda is enough especially if you ask for no ice then you get all beverage. It’s cost’s them pennies on the average per soda regardless of the size you order.
Matt my friend, you are absolutely terrific with these videos! I listen to the Dollar General, Walmart, Sam's, Costco, but being in Cleveland I've never heard of that fast food place, we don't have one here. God bless and keep up the great work!
For Culver’s, I never get a pop for a drink in my meal. Instead of the drink/pop, I always substitute my drink for a Concrete mixer instead. And then I ask for a cup for water so I do have something to drink with my food. This essentially saves me like $2 on the concrete mixer since I want the concrete mixer anyways 👍🏼
I'm a manager at culver's and this is true. I flat out tell people to get a value basket (meal, side, drink) which does save a little bit of money vs getting each thing separate. As for The Deal Guy's prices for culvers, I'm wondering if those are average or based on his location. Edit: One more thing, his deal with culvers is if the person gets a single vs a double burger and my store, we usually try to overpack the fries with the way prices are right now, so a medium fry is like 1 1/2 small fry. But if you want a true "value" meal, then just get a kids meal. Plus if you are dining in, free refills on drinks.
Regarding the Raising Canes hack it’s actually easier to just sub slawfor toast you can do it with any combo that includes coleslaw plus you’ll get it free
I don't care for lettuce on my burgers so I used to order my big Mac with extra lettuce on the side and then get extra Mac sauce on the side also (basically 1000 island salad dressing) then dump the lettuce from the burger into the Mac carton with the extra lettuce and have myself a small side salad.
Thank you for the thorough research and sharing with us! As always, your humor is one reason I enjoy you sooo much! Also, your Christmas pics your shared over the holiday were terrific! Your family is beautiful!
It’s been a while, but I worked in McDonalds in high school. The scoop for fries is the same no matter the size. The trick is that we were trained to pinch the bottom of the fry box when inserting the fries. The allows a gap of air, making it appear as if the fries are full. This is why the fries are more less the same.
But the bag is different size so the small bag wouldn't hold as much fries as the large since it's taller in size and fries would fall out of the smaller size.
At Cane's you can switch out the coleslaw for another piece of toast for no up charge with your meal. You can also skip the drink on combos to make it cheaper too.
In my area, everyone orders ice from Sonic because it's crushed. I had no idea McDonald's had cakes! I have to tell my husband about the Wendy's key tag!!! I expect the next video is hacks for car cleaning 😉. Thanks so much for all these tips. You're really the best!!!! Edit: your diy report card cracked me up!
A bath towel for each seat works wonders. Even a hand towel helps. My daughters keep extra napkins in the glove box for snotboggles as well as food items.
You get an "A" on my report card! Thanks for the hacks as always. My wife and I ended up getting a Costco and Sam's Club membership based on your videos. Thank you!!!
@@jasontokio1591 we're lucky we have both in our area and have a huge discount to sign up for Sam's Club with a gift card back. It has more than paid for itself. That said, Costco is a better overall experience in our area.
Also, the concept behind your taco pass trick also works with the Wendy's Frosty pass. If you buy like 10 of them, you can redeem them all at once and they'll put the frosty into a large cup for you
As a vegetarian, asking for a sandwich without the meat usually means they'll ring out the full item and just notate to remove the meat, but there's no cost difference. Asking for it to be rung up by individual pieces means you don't have to pay for the meat they're not serving. Example: If I order an Egg and Cheese McGriddle, I pay full price as a Sausage or Bacon Egg and Cheese McGriddle. If I ask for them to charge me for a folded-egg, cheese, and mcgriddle patties by item, it's about a 1/3 savings
@Ken V I used to do something similar. An employee showed me. I don't eat pork and I wanted an egg McMuffin with extra cheese. So I would order a cheese and egg biscuit, substitute a English muffin for the biscuit and rounded egg instead of folded. I would pay 99 cents as opposed to $3. And if I wanted extra cheese, it was only 10 cents more or they would give it to me for free.
Most fast food restaurants (if this even bothers you) they cook vegan/vegetarian orders on the stove where theyve already made tons of burgers on so theres still grease and juice on your now vegan/vegetarian food
To be completely honest. I've ordered the keychain multiple years in a row from Wendy's, but NEVER do they EVER ask me to see it! It's on my keychain in my ignition and I can't just turn the car off and show them. It's a MUCH smaller serving than you showed, BUT if they run out of the tiny cups, they may give you a small.
Former 14 year Wendy's employee (12 as a manager) we didn't need to see them as long as we "rang" them up in the register. Food cost is a major factor working in food so we just have to account for them. They do go for the adoption cause!
For me, part of being nice to the fast food worker is also making it really simple for them. Some seem to get irritated with too many words so I remain a "gimme a number 1 with a tea" kinda guy.
When I worked at McDonald’s we were taught to NOT pop the bottom of the fry boxes in. I thought that was so shady of our store. Idk if that’s a chain wide thing, or just our stores in Louisiana area.
Keep practicing your dad jokes with us, there great!

I wish more people realized that being kind in small interactions would make huge changes overall. I used to work in call centers for everything from health insurance to tech support for 20 years if someone cared enough to not be a butthead I would go all the extra miles and it made my day better to help someone kind. Former Chick-fil-A employee here, most people don't know that you can upgrade a kids meal from 6 nuggets to a chicken sandwich for only $1
Can you do it in the app?
@@MarcoAshford I'm not sure, I don't think so, it was in one of the sub-menus in the system
That’s awesome
current cfa employee, you can’t anymore . we don’t haven have a 6 ct anymore
What about the red flag?
What ?! I need to do some research?!!
I can't remember the last time seeing Wendy's coupon
I love using the Wendy apps for the rewards and free coupons. Did something similar when they had the frosty boo books (or whatever they call them). Used a coupon for a free cheese fry with purchase and bought a $1 frosty boo book. So for $1 i got cheese fries and a book of like 5 Jr frosty coupons.

A friend always used the Culver’s Kids Meal trick. She told me an added bonus is if you ask for the custard with the meal, they usually leave the coupon attached to the bag, which you can use on a future visit. So you can get TWO custards with this hack.
Even better, when you save 10 of your "scoopie tokens" you can redeem them for a free kids meal 😉
Oh wow, good to know. Thank you for sharing
If you do their survey you'll get another free scoop of ice cream too

would the custard need to substitute something else in the meal?
I love this dude! He puts so much energy into his presentation it’s hard not to like it.
Thank you Deal Guy 👍
thanks for confirming going to try this upcoming week.
Hubby and I have been doing this for years he likes a burrito and I like mine in a bowl.
I have always done this hack... except I am not in a relationship and I just eat the entire bowl and tortilla myself in 1 sitting
Spending some quality time with you , Matt, as I recover from my knee replacement surgery. Thank you for good info and helping me pass the time!
Don't go there. It's not worth it.

You know for the chick fil kids meal, if you order your drink as a lemonade with no ice and add your ice cream you can stir up your own frozen lemonade, just like the one on their menu I do this all the time with my kids meal.
Been buying the Wendy’s key tags for years and although it’s a super small frosty it’s a perfect amount
Thanks I must get that bc my Yorkie always wants ice cream.
In the pic it was a double cheese burger, the kids meal is a single burger
I don’t eat a lot of fries and end up tossing the extra fries, so this hack is great.
And if you're just getting chicken strips, it costs less to order an 8 piece vs 2 4 pieces.
Also if you order the sandwich you can tell them to butter both sides of the bun. Tastes so good
I always do this because the toast taste good compared to coselaw. Imagine being healthy and caring bout your body…
@@gianttacogod coleslaw slept on tho

One of my favorite hacks at chipotle is to wait until they scoop my meat onto my plate, then politely ask for double meat. This way, they already showed me how much the first scoop was, and have to do it again for the second scoop. I get much more meat now then when I would just ask for a double serving at the start

At McDonald's... Buy a 1.59 Mc Chicken then ask for a little buffalo sauce (usually you get those free when you get the food,) then boom a buffalo chicken sandwich for 1.59
That Wendy's Frosted Key deal needs to be included in every Wendy's commercial as they are trying to help out a worthy charity.
yeah, also Im pretty sure you can buy as many key tags as you want
Spoiler alert they don’t actually care about the charity. Big corporations use customers “donations to charity” as tax rights off so they can pay less in taxes which is probably why they don’t want to promote a 2$ key tag for charity that will cost them money by the end of the year with all the free frostys
the key tags have been around for at least a decade....
@@AmyC28713 and never get bigger... lol
Honestly, the amount of fries you get is a crap shoot regardless of the size you order. The only consistency is it's completely inconsistent.
You used small twice.
Another great reason to get it.
why do you feed your kids this GARBAGE? junk food actually lowers IQ points
Cool. I NEVER knew that.

A Starbucks hack I was told years ago:
My friend once told me to order two grande size cups, the ice separately from the coffee, if you want it iced.
I asked for a bag of ice recently at McDonald’s. The staff looked at me like I was crazy.
Ahhhhh Mochaaaaa 😜
Nope it's a Pennsylvania thing too!
dude RUINED his car for us!
Extra tips:
When getting rice and beans I ask for extra, which I usually follow up with a couple “more please” and “another scoop please”.
Once they’ve piled the bowl to the brim I have them put as much corn as they can, filling in all the cracks and I also ask for corn in a side cup which is free. I also ask for 3 crunchy taco shells on the side which is the same price as one large tortilla because I like having the variety. 👍🏼
Where's this Chipotle located? Must have some real friendly employees, most Chipotle restaurants wouldn't allow this.
Lmao you are certainly one kind of customer 😂 hope you tip for all that
I don’t like Chipotle. Their food tastes strange.
More please. Another scoop please.
No. And thank you. Please 😛😛😛🤷
at that point you just go to the grocery store 🤣
The Chipotle "hack" I have been doing for years. When I found out you could get tortillas on the side, I started getting 2 like you did. At one place, I would get 3.
My burrito bowls from the hefty place would have enough stuff to make 4 burritos. So one burrito bowl would turn into 4 meals.
💯% SCORE!
That bowl almost looked like it was filled by moes. It was actually full.
same. i now do double everything except for meat / guac / queso, because they can charge extra for that, and then get a tortilla on the side or taco tortillas on the side. and roll my own. usually end up with a fat burrito + regular sized bowl.
My brother taught me the extra tortilla hack it’s so awesome I do it all the time
I think this depends on where you are. At McDonald's in Australia, adding fudge and M&M's to a sundae actually comes up to a very similar price, very much depends on what specials are up. Also meals do cost less than everything separate- havent finished the video but this is so common! I used to combine items into meals so as to reduce the price, it is real trust mee
Edit: The fry sizes are different! Very very different but it is so easy to over fill smalls. Generally frowned upon though. Also you can just ask for a sauce after you order and it's free :)
Yo don't add fudge to a Sunday its already included
That’s not the point. Ugh. Sometimes people do go out.
I tried your Chick Fil A Hack yesterday. 2 chicken strips and the multi grain bun instead of the sandwich. Totally worked and about 2 bucks less!! Also, JUST did the survey for a free sandwich the next time. THANK YOU!!
Chick Fil is one of the vile disgusting items sold in the US
My favorite is burger patties from Wendy’s.
Oh we say extra fries but I wonder if they really give em
I'd actually prefer extra coleslaw and skip the Texas toast.
I always get the kids meal. It’s enough food for me without feeling bloated after fast food! My husband gets the bonus ice cream from me

Big ups brother
Having worked at Chipotle and been a manager there for 2 1/2 years I can tell you if you’re nice and smile you can ask for extra of anything (except meat, guac, and queso) and they usually won’t charge for it. Had a guy come in every day and get 4x rice and 3x beans but he was cool and never left a mess
Man, I always loved customers who would intentionally not order something and then “remember” to order it once they paid. Quality people, I tell you
is it cheaper to order half of beans rice and meat?
Thanks for the tip!
For Starbucks, you can ask for a venti drink split between two cups and they will split it for you and you usually get 2 grande drinks out of it!
Great tips as always! I also love that the store employees are willing to spill some money saving secrets! 🤫
Because none of us give a fuck about the profits for the company, we just wanna get through the shift lol
The fact that you said “I love you” made me subscribe. 😂 Great video!
0:13 "If you enjoy a McFlurry"
*I've been TRYING to enjoy a McFlurry for the past 3 years but the MACHINE IS STILL BROKEN*
The machine being “ broken “ seems to happen A lot I’ve noticed!
i used to work at a chick-fil-a, and fun fact about the grilled cheese thing, Some places actually have that as a secret menu item in the extra portion of their operating system, mine did. they even had white and wheat options with only a 10 cent price difference and my store had the ability to properly cook them, they literally just flattened them on the grill till the cheese melted.
Thank you!
@@thedealguy My pleasure.
I also work at Chick-fil-A and we don’t have the grilled cheese sadly
@@hollysturm7566 strange, I wonder if it was just my store then, or if it's a random few select ones that do it. Either way the videos way to do it should still work even as an employee, you should see if they'll make you one on your break since they're so cheap ^^
The Truett’s CFA Grill in Atlanta offered grilled cheese, a wide selection of veggies sides, and pancakes/grits for Saturday breakfast
I mix my leftover sauces to make meatloaf sauce. A little taco bell hot sauce, a couple random ketchup packets, some barbecue sauce... whatever. Nobody has ever figured it out and my meatloaf remains loved.
Bonus tip for Culver’s: the free scoop with the kids meal will come with one free topping upon request.
I used to work at chik fil a and no one knows you can exchange the toy for an ice dream and it's honestly so much ice cream. Also if you like iced coffee ask them to use 'shake base' instead of cream for the best iced coffee you have ever had.
The Chipotle tip is the best! Thank you for such great content, Matt. I also thoroughly enjoyed your report card. 😆 🤣
Not all heroes wear capes and this guy proves it! He must be protected at all costs! Wonderful video! 🥰
I'm goin to try that thanks!
I don't usually eat fast food, but now I wanna try the sundae one. Love it how simple and on the topic you kept it! Gained a follower here!
🍦Will be trying to get next time..if I am lucky machines are working.🤷🏻♀️
Simi True. We usually always have 2 in stock where I am at. Only time we don't is when it's tossed due to being expired and waiting on the new box.
I’ve been missing your videos, Matt! Love watching them in the morning - hope to see more soon!
At Culver's you can also get the flavor of the day with the kids meal, not just vanilla or chocolate 😊
Thank you!!
I don't think I knew that! Thank you for putting that here. Came to the comments to see what else people had to use.
You also get one free topping on that custard whether it's the FOD or vanilla/chocolate 😉
I went through the McD drive thru and didn’t ask for the sundae or the McFlurry. I saved a whole lot. 😂
Ooh.. the very best savings… just.. not to buy👏🏼😁👌🏼
Always ask for Fries with NO Salt at many Fast Food Restaurants and you’ll get fresh Fries not one’s that has been setting in the pan with grease and salt caked on. A 2nd tip is ask for no ice in your drink the beverage is always pre-chilled and you get some beverage.
I always do this unless it is a restaurant that has the soft, crushed ice.
Be careful about the fresh fry thing because I once worked at McDonald and all they do is redunk them in hot grease to take the salt off.
Yes ! No salt,. !! 👍 Agree
@@carolinagirl53 I don’t eat at McDonalds their food is gross
Said like a true midwesterner lol
@@Lord_hullnyx don’t forget take of tomato as it’s like 10-20 cents off
What is a concrete mixer?
@@im2cuteferu It's like a Dairy Queen Blizzard
Funny, very informative and entertaining as always Matt! I need to jot these down and keep them with me! Awesome job as usual!
That is the only way I will remember!
Regarding the Raising Canes hack it’s actually easier to just sub slawfor toast you can do it with any combo that includes coleslaw plus you’ll get it free
Yep! I do it every time!
That's not a hack. You're losing Coleslaw..
@@TraceguyRune Sounds like a bonus to me 😂
@TraceguyRune for those that don't eat it, it's a win-win.
You can also sub the coleslaw and toast for triple fries. Or one sub for extra of something else,…all at no extra charge.
it should be noted that these prices can change pretty drastically from one location to another, even businesses that aren't operated as franchises
Not possible
This should be illegal
But the bag is different size so the small bag wouldn't hold as much fries as the large since it's taller in size and fries would fall out of the smaller size.
Dirty business shame.
We were not taught that at the McDonald's I worked at, sounds pretty shady
At Cane's you can switch out the coleslaw for another piece of toast for no up charge with your meal. You can also skip the drink on combos to make it cheaper too.
In my area, everyone orders ice from Sonic because it's crushed. I had no idea McDonald's had cakes! I have to tell my husband about the Wendy's key tag!!! I expect the next video is hacks for car cleaning 😉. Thanks so much for all these tips. You're really the best!!!! Edit: your diy report card cracked me up!
Hahahahah great idea!
Not all McDonald's have the cakes. Unfortunately, my local one does not.
I don't get the attraction for nugget ice, or crushed ice. It melts too quickly in the drink, and makes it watery.
What a great idea!
If only I had Costco in my area…
You got both. Impressive I told her she could only have one. Lol
If you buy like 10 of them, you can redeem them all at once and they'll put the frosty into a large cup for you
WOW
Amazon, occasionally, has $50 restaurant gift cards for $40. It's usually listed under the "deal of the day". Keep a look out!
Eat the meat, save yourself the hassle
@@K.Mac. so McDonald's is bigger in America but also 3x the price
Most fast food restaurants (if this even bothers you) they cook vegan/vegetarian orders on the stove where theyve already made tons of burgers on so theres still grease and juice on your now vegan/vegetarian food
Culver's gives you a discount if you take off the meat, or try the veggie burger.
@@Bad4magik yeah, I still buy the keychain for the donation. Don't wanna be a cheapskate!
