    This video helped me so much!!...I agree this is a great color product for gray hair. I just mixed colors & colored my hair BEFORE i found your channel and accidentally got it right.! Trying to color at home and know very little about what ash and neutral meant.
    Your brief basic explanation was a God send.
    So many ladies are searching and need your knowledge about gray hair, coloring tips and maintenance. I certainly would love more of those videos.
    Thank you!!♡♡♡

      A dark brown will do, you dont need a black. You can use any shampoo as normal, just shampoo prior to use and put it on wet hair. follow the processing time on the bottle. I would do a skin test 1st on your wrist to make sure you're not allergic. This is not a permanent color so it last until your hair grows up. so if your hair grows fast then you will need it faster than other. It says on the bottle not to use heat....so try it that way 1st. I use heat with mine because my hair is so resistant. Everyone is different. Since u experience breakage I would say follow the packaging instructions for your 1st use and use a deep continuing mask after you wash it out. My favorite is the one by Camille Rose the Alge Renew one, I think it is called. Thanks for watching

    Hey Steffanie, I use 2N of this brand. I'm pretty much 95% gray. I would like to highlight with a little red or burgundy, what color would you suggest I use with the espresso bean?

    • @DesignsBySteffanie
      @DesignsBySteffanie  3 роки тому +2

      I’m not sure of all the colors they have, however if you go into Sally’s Beauty, they have the swatches with the colors and you can see them. Select the one with base color red. The color I used in the video gives a reddish undertone. Thanks for watching.

  • @oresource
    @oresource 7 місяців тому +1

    Hello and hope you’re well. I just saw your video after searching this brand. I’m about 25% gray. I’m new to this idea.
    My natural hair is like a sandy brown, no red undertones. People often tell me I have olive undertones in my skin. I don’t want red hair or any hint of it. I purchased toasted hazelnut only and just tried it. It made my hair look darker.
    Do you have a suggestion for me to use or mix under this brand where I stick better to a light brown towards blonde and not anything that leans to red or black? Your input is greatly appreciated.

    • @DesignsBySteffanie
      @DesignsBySteffanie  7 місяців тому +2

      If you go to Sally’s Beauty, they have the shade samples of the color you will have to try a lighter color than what you have and read the base color on the bottle to see what the undertones are. Unfortunately I don’t know all the color numbers. It was trail and error for me, buying colors and mixing them. The color is generally darker initially and will lighten after a few washes because it’s not permanent. Sample on a paper towel so you see the true color before applying as shown in the video. Best of luck!!

    I'm going to use the 2RV Burgundy Brown. It's a level 2 base Red-Violet.I want to mix it with a Brown. Should I used the 2N Expresso Brown. It's a level 2 base natural or the 2A Rich Dark Brown. It's a level 2 base ash?

    • @DesignsBySteffanie
      @DesignsBySteffanie  3 роки тому +2

      It depends on what color you are going for . Red-violet mixed with neutral won’t change your base. Red-violet with and Ash will. I recommend that you mix a little of each and wipe on a papertown like shown in the video to see what color you get

    • @bellarosa3788
      @bellarosa3788 3 роки тому +5

    • @DesignsBySteffanie
      @DesignsBySteffanie  Рік тому +2

      You can add a little black to it. 2N is neutral, not sure why it’s turning red. But I’m not sure of the brand Advanced, I’ve never used it. But mix like I showed in the video and rub on paper towel and u will see what color you will get on gray because the paper towel is white. Thanks for watching!!

    • @DesignsBySteffanie

      You will have to go into the store and look at samples of color swatches. I unfortunately can recommend a color mixture because I don’t know what color you are going for. You may not even have to mix them. Yes, it will work on all grey hair. You just have to make sure you have it fully covered with the color. I always recommend doing test strands on your hair to get desired results. Remembering this is not a permanent color so the more you shampoo your hair the lighter the color will get and you will have to reapply.

      Where you go in the stores they should have the color swatch that showed the colors. I’m not sure which one is lighter. I always got mine at Sally’s and they gave the swatch in front of each color. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!!

    • @DesignsBySteffanie
      @DesignsBySteffanie  3 роки тому +3

      It says to rinse only… but as a professional I would say shampoo. I have always shampooed mine as well as clients. We don’t shampoo our hair daily as black women so, fade isn’t going to happen as it does on those that shampoo daily. And u want to make sure it’s off your scalp.

    • @DesignsBySteffanie
      @DesignsBySteffanie  4 роки тому +3

      Yes for Dark brown the 2N should do. The 1A is an Ash tome, which means it has green undertones and when it fades it can turn green. I would stick to the 2N. Thanks for watching!! Happy Holidays!!!

    Hi Steffanie. I’m trying to get a medium auburn that is close to the Cinnaberry share Clairol Natural Instincts shade. It’s about a shade darker than yours I think. My skin tone is the same as yours. Which two Professional shades for gray would you recommend for blending, and in what proportions?

    • @DesignsBySteffanie
      @DesignsBySteffanie  4 роки тому +3

      I’m not certain what Cinnaberry looks like nor the undertones of it, so unfortunately I can’t say. If you have a Sally’s I would recommend going in there and looking at the swatch colors on the shelving. They always have the swatches up and it makes it a lot easy to compare colors and decide.
