As always sis is killin' it! I love people like Brittnee Alexus that don't take themselves too seriously and can poke fun at themselves it makes learning easy.
If I had someone like you in beauty school when I was in my twenties, I would have enjoyed the class so much more. You explain it so well, have an awesome personality, so it's like having a doctor explain medical issues in plain english, so that anyone can understand.... Awesome...
It's funny, I notice the UA-camrs with evident education and amazing explanations have lower views and subscribers and the complete failure videos have so many views. Why do people like mistakes more than genuine education 🤣🤣🤣 but I agree, sooo glad I found this channel and I hope everyone finds it!
Thank you so much. This is such an excellent and instructive video. I’m trying to cover my gray roots without too much chemicals so I think the semi permanent organic would be good for me.
8:12 OMG!! Thank you!! I have been continuously pulling permanent hair color to my ends. It is building up. I just need to use a Demi to refresh the color. Thank you!! How would you remove hair color buildup?
You are such a good teacher! The last time I left the salon I was in tears & it takes a lot because I realize hair grows back! You have given me the gift of knowledge to either do it myself, or instruct stylus about what I want! Thank you so much, you are wonderful! 🎉🎉🎉
@Britnee Alexus THANK YOUUUUU BC YOU MADE THIS SO SIMPLE BEING THAT IM SOOOO LOST AND NEVER HEARD OR SEEN MAJORITY OF THE WORDS USED IN THE HAIRCOLORING CHAPTER ❤️❤️
I have watched so many videos about coloring hair, and this is by far the clearest, most comprehensive and easy to understand! I color my grays at home every 3 months. I have extremely fine, low to medium density, mostly 4b coily hair. I know use the Wella demi- permanent, which I know is not supposed to provide full gray coverage, but it does for me just as well as permanent color. I am wondering - do you think it is because my hair is so fine with naturally lifted cuticles (high porosity)?
Thank you for explaining this so well. You are knowledgeable, efficient and always have a positive attitude full of wit and a great sense of humor. The visual incorporation (drawings of the hair shaft) help a lot. If you are not already a teacher/instructor, you’d be awesome at that!💯❤️😊
I agree with all the ladies that have said you are a great teacher - you don’t hide anything - you explain if it doesn’t come out right how to fix it 👍🏻🙋🏼♀️🌺💥
When you said that to cover grey do a permanent with 20 vol. And then do the rest of the lenght with Demi & 10 vol. to not overlap and dont create build-up...It made so much sense. I struggle with that. Im going to try that. Do i do the roots first or last?
These are the coolest video. Sonin depth I wanted to go to cosmetology school so bad before I had my kids. I love this!!!!! Also thank you for doing this how awesome!!!!
I love this. I actually went raven burgundy black one time. That was fun. But now I am just blonde with a few silver strands thrown in. Lol. Thank you for this.😊
@@BrittneeAlexus it was fun until it started growing out. Thankfully my stepmom at the time was a magician when it came to getting my hair back to blonde. Lol
Enjoying your videos, I would like to see black dyed hair being bleached and bleached hair covered by black dye and rebleached, see what it does it would be a cool experiment 😁
Question: I have had gray hair since November of 2019, pre pandemic. Needless to say my entire head is now salt/pepper….more salt around the face. I’d like to keep it gray, but I’d like to use the “Just For Men” product, just to give it a little of “life” to my head, and I don’t mind if it covers the back of my head, which is darker then the front. Can I use that product?
This was a great presentation! I am going natural and letting my grey show. I would like to enhance and show them off. I have salt/pepper hair. Would demi-permanent be the choice? I appreciate your time and knowledge! Amazing!
Love your content and you are so beautiful!! Quick question because I am still stumped.. help pleassse. I have medium brown non-virgin hair. (Natural color within the same realm as well.) MY QUESTION is I have gray.. it almost looks like gray highlights.. I would like to use something that would turn them blonde. Could I use a dark cool blonde 7A Demi-Permanent to achieve this?? Would I apply all over.. and wouldn’t it turn my non gray hair to a reddish brown or would it not change my brown at all and just effect the gray? I wash my at-the-shoulder length hair once a week unless I have a special event or outing.
Brittnee I have relaxed hair and I want to use semi permanent to cover greys, some colors like Clairol Beautiful Browns from Sally’s have colors that say 1A which is black and 2N which is a dark brown but it makes my roots reddish, finally my question is will the A levels do anything for greys or should I stick with neutral and can they be mixed to get my roots darker , sorry I know that was a mouthful 😂New subscriber today 😂
I use perm on roots to cover greys then a demi once or twice a year to refresh ends. However I think I haven't been letting my roots grow out enough before retouch as I have a dark band growing out so I think I'm overlapping it. I do root touch up myself at home every 2 months but my greys start showing way before then. I use wella koleston. My roots are now lighter than the dark band growing that's growing out an inch or so after the roots. I'm wondering if I should use a demi for a while and just try and blend the greys. Unsure what to do but I don't want to colour my roots and keep overlapping colour. I can't see it myself when I colour my own hair so I struggle to not overlap it
wow, your explanation is the best i've seen in a long time. I have a question? I have natural unprocessed dark brown with some gray hair (54yo) mixed, is there a way to make my brown to be on the gray side so it blends better without bleach?
Thank you Brittnee for this video! I’m going to try that technique of the 20% volume developer on my gray roots I never heard of that!! PS I love your nails!!!! . I can never find a color in that shade that covers well. The only luck I’ve ever had is using those dashing diva‘s to get the bright neon pop of color
Let me know how it works!! these are SNS powder nails (wish I did them myself) my neighbor tried the gel nail kit off amazon and hers looked amazing!!! it was neon orange
OMG!! You have so much personality and are so informative, clear, and humorous. Your illustrations were great. Seriously… you really need your own TV show. I was laughing’ and learning’ at the same time. Such a fun and great video!
Love your channel! I color and highlight my hair at home. I use level 7 mixed with a little level 6 demi perm on my roots but it does fade pretty quick and I have some gray. What would happen if I went down to a level 5 demi and used 20 volume instead of 10...would that make it fade any less or I shouldn't do that at all? I'm trying to put off using permanent color on my roots. The rest of my hair is heavily highlighted with some lowlights. Thx so much :)
Why are averse to using permanent ? You’ve been coloring your hair for many years -so what did you think you “ putting off”? interesting to hear people talk/think their logic 😂 Fast forward to now- you gave graying hair and a whole new ballgame. Invest in a salon consult because you’re talking about going darker x2 levels ..
@nicholettej1742 thanks for your reply! I like the way demi fades out. Now I'm in surgical menopause and have a lot more gray/white that comes in. My hair isn't growing as fast as it used to & I still use a demi blonde that leaves the brown I have left alone & blends in the gray/white.
I box dyed my hair bright red for years then decided I wanted platinum blonde the amount of time it took me to strip out the colour to get it platinum blonde was unreal !
Does anybody know why loreal says the chroma red cannot be mixed with another brand? I have pravana 7.66 on my head but want to use the loreal as well both are permanent color
I am not sure if I am understanding in 100% how the demi permanent works. I have virgin level 6 or 7 hair, cool tone hair. If I will use demi permanent in my level or in lower level with 10 vol developer how my hair will looks after, let's say, 20 washes? Will it come back to ashy color or the warm will stay in this? Also will it be much lighter than my natural hair? Will be enough color change to see the regrowth? Anyway amazing video and thanks for help ❤️
How do I determine if i want to use the Demi color for the full 30 minutes or just for 15 as a toner only? I have white roots over medium briwn hair. I've been using permanent color over and over and want to start letting the dye grow out of my length. It's too dark now from multiple colorings. I'm using the permanent color on the roots, and Demi on the rest. My goal is to refreshen and slightly lighten the rest of my hair. I think i just answered my own question! Full 30 minutes until desired lightness, then toner only once i get to the level i want.. is that correct? Anyone? Thanks in advance. Love this lady and her videos,,! I've learned more on just two of her videos than in two weeks of everyone elses- who just left me confused!! LoL!
I'm around a natural level 8 more on the cool side with a lot of greys coming though at my temples. I don't want to change my hair colour and I'm happy with the undertone. Can I use a gloss to help disguise the greys? And if so how do I know what shade to go for? Thanks :)
What about shampooing before demi-permanent hair color if you have oily hair and covered with dry shampoo? I’ve read both opinions. One is yes to shampooing if hair is oily and the other is that dirty hair helps the color to stick to the hair shaft better. Your thoughts? 😃
I coloured my black hair red permanent for first time! It didn’t work because I used a bleach free and ammonia free Garnier Olia from the shelf! Should I colour it permanent again using same colour? What is your advice on turning it red and minimise bleach damage? Thank you in advance from UK 🇬🇧 btw you are brilliant 🤩
Thanks for posting these videos. I have 3 questions. What is this nail color you are wearing? Can you use a different developer with box hair dye? Can you use the box hair dye developer on your grays like you explained in this video?
this is SNS powder from the nail salon its a glow in the dark series but I did forget the name. Yes you can use a different one (but results can be all over the place, would recommend getting a color from Sally's) and yes! you can use the developer in the box for this
Question.....applying 20 Vol Dev on dry hair before coloring; for stubborn grey hair - can this be done with demi hair color or only with permanent hair color?
Can you do a show on hair that changes with age,. Like why does my hair look grayish in some areas in direct light and if I take a close up flash snap shot. But it doesn't look gray in real life. Does it grown out kinda grayish then lightet and lighter? I don't see strands of grey but it just looks greyish. Even with a level 6n mixed with a 7wg. Does gray grab demi differently and looks different than normal hair?
Hello, when you say Demi is better for a refresh on the ends, are you referring to the ends as anything past the regrowth? Like basically all the hair except the new grow out?
I have gray that grows looking like highlights almost. If I let it go untouched it becomes a lot. I have used permanent medium browns sometimes Med golden brown. But after a month my growth of grays are back. I added bleach highlights to my hair and now it’s a month later and the grays have arrived to the party again. If I use permanent to touch up it is going to funk up my highlights, right? Is there anything I can do to cover or change grays but still keep the highlights?? Ideally changing the gray to blonde would work to extend my bleach highlights. I feel this has to be a super common issue but I am stumped for a solution and have travelled every corner of internet for answers. Any input, suggestions or tips would be super appreciated. I know you said semi permanent color isn't usually mixed with developer... is it a no no, or can it be done? I like using Adore semi permanent colors, and I want to try it with developer. Maybe i should just use the developer solo for a slight lift, then follow it with the Adore? I ideally don't want to use permanent color or bleach since I really like how my locs respond to Adore lol
How long does it take for Demi permanent to fade? I want to dye my highlights to my natural hair but I want it to fade so that I can lighten my hair by the time next summer comes around
It fades a little after a couple months, but I think the last of the color is just now washing out after four months. Head and Shoulders will make it fade fast! (Which I only used a couple of times recently.) That's good to know because if you don't like the color, you can use dandruff shampoo to wash it out more quickly.
