Those children are out because they don't have electronics with them yet. They play the natural way with the other kids. That is the best experience being a kid in the Philippines. The good thing is that during meal time they come home and eat together with the family. You just see them out during playtime.
I remember when i was little ..my parents wont let me use gadgets so i hang out with my friends and i think its really fun to play with others than to use gadgets By watching this i get flashbacks I think im gonna cry 😢😂 But now seeing with my friends its getting akward bcuz were older now but i still love them Im getting emotional now
That's the provincial, local mentality. No need for a designated adult to supervise, the whole barangay keeps them safe & disciplined. If a child/person is harmed, you've the wrath of the whole barangay. Serious...😳
Most of the kids especially those who live in the province always want to play around and be with their playmates while their parents probably working or at home doing some household work. They will come home only when they feel hungry.
Not that parents don't spend time with chidren, its just we love to hang out outside and play with friends outside. I remember when I was a kid we would sneak out after lunch (weekend of course as we're not allowed during school time) to play, then we have to be at home for family snacktime and dinner...
You found your little brothers in the Philippines.😂.. it would be nice if you keep in touch with them even if you’re back to your country and inspire them encourage them to do something good for their future.👌
- I do keep in contact with almost everyone in my videos. I have even learned that one of the children died that was in one of my Manila videos. So sad. At least they have memories of each that they can watch. The kids in this video said that they didn't have FB, but, after 6 months I received a message from one of them and he identified himself. But we don't talk. It was just a message 1 time. I hope they are all doing well 😇
Great Video! you got a great heart.. when I go the kids are like glue to me and my little girl!! They love us an also I swim a lot with them too there and feed them and I am always helping in the community's when I visit... ill keep watching keep up the great work.
I was born and raised in the Philippines in my fifteen years before we migrate to the US. The reason why I am telling you is that of what you said about kids hanging around with no adults supervision. In fact, in the province, everyone knows each other and they trust the kids to hang out with each other and play. Ater school or during the weekend kids hang out to play basketball and if you live by the ocean they swim. And they called it "BARKADA" childhood friends. Philippines government have Department of Social Welfare who take care of the less fortunate children who's been abandoned by the parents or been physical abuse by their parents.
I just love Philippines and the people there. I travel alone and walk around and meet new people in all ages. From kids to the old man sitting with a coffee or a beer or tuba. I have only met friendly people in Philippines. I hope I can go soon again. I agree about the slum areas. I been to theese really bad houses made of pallets, cartoon, sheet metal and plastic. Also there only nice people. To spend time with filipino kids like you did is amazing. They are so happy and warm. First I fell in love with the nature......but after just a week it was the people I fell in love with. Now I miss Philippines as soon as i am back home again. Greetings from Sweden!
There _are_ street kids. Usually orphans and runaways. But that's still kind of the wrong conclusion. Children are everywhere because that is pretty much their playtime. Usually NOT because they've been abandoned or anything depressing like that. They're allowed to roam freely as long as they're back at mealtimes, especially since school usually only lasts for half a day at their ages. And given that they roam in "herds" (for lack of a better term) and in familiar neighborhoods where everyone knows everyone, there is very little danger. The nearest adult (who is usually a parent of one of them) will keep an eye on them when they wander near their workplaces or homes. Think of it as like a raising kids communally. How do I know this? Because my childhood in the Philippines was exactly like that. You should have realized by now that Filipino culture is very collectivist. The strongest unit is the family, followed by friends and community. The culture of letting kids roam around with other kids is part of why that is. We literally get to know our future friends and neighbors from playgroups like these. And it crosses social and class barriers, as evidenced by the fact that two of those kids are apparently orphans. They gravitate to you for one reason and one reason only: you're a foreigner. Filipinos are a very xenophilic culture. We love new people, things, and experiences.
- A different experience than what it's like back home in the United States. Maybe that is where you live now? Not sure. I love so much about this culture, both young and old.
I am from san jose mindoro! Thanks man for appreciating our town especially our country the philippines and also the friendly people. Man you deserve a millions of subscribers! Salamat❤
Wonderful of you sir speaking and observing what really Philippe surroundings looks like and the people! Other people are judging negatively and they’re not even in the place! Thank you!👍
I visited the Philippines again a few years back. Met these two siblings 8 & 9 yrs old who’s family abandoned them. They lived in a broken down house with a broken roof. My grandma paid for their schooling and feeds them. They loved me spending time with them cause they felt important and loved for once. But going back there again I haven’t heard anything from them. I wish I knew where they are now
That's how they grow up young kids can take care their own selves...nobody babaysit them like the kids in america....they grow up fast in terms of self behaving.....
It's natural in the Philippines that children wander around and play with other kids. For us that is not a negative thing. Of course there are disadvantages because things might happen like accidents. But that's how is it here, especially in the provinces. Childrens love to explore.
christmas is fun there as a child i used to be around when theres alot of foreign in my country thanks for being good with them,my first console game is nes and its given to me by a foreigner back in 1986
- Absolutely. Thanks for watching. This was my favorite city in the Philippines. It was a lot of fun. Such a raw experience. Untainted with our western cultures and lifestyles...and nearly absent of the foreign presence, such as myself. Freekin' loved it! 💪🏽
Got yourself a new filipino subscriber! thank you for visiting the Philippines. Come back again soon. There is alot more to explore, like the island of Romblon.
There are elder people all over the place that will protect them as soon as they found these kids are in trouble ....believe me... these kids are fun loving filipinos..👍
My lovely Filipina wife grew up in Magsaysay just 45 min drive from there. I have been a lot of places, and it's hard to find anyplace with nicer people than in the Philippines. Bless you during your travels, looks like your having a wonderful time! Bob
- For sure. I have been around some incredibly nice people - from all walks of life in this country. Wait util you see the upcoming videos - you'll see what I mean 😇 Many thanks!

Awesome video. Great heart you are, you having fun in the Philippines. Beautiful views over there in the beach. Enjoying listening this video you shared to us. Godbless you! Greetings from Finland😚😍
Thats the way we grow up. Now my dad is doing it to my niece. I said to my dad to check my niece everytime to go home and do not wonder anywhere but my dad said i talked to him to go home for meals and before five 5pm and my niece did. Lol.
- 😇 It's amazing how far 'giving time' goes. I don't give money in most situations, but I do give time. Sometimes a smile goes a long way! Many thanks, Romulo 😇
Edges Of Earth I love my country and i appreciate it more when someone like you visit and explore it. Its really life changing experience for everyone! Im glad youre doing it! I hope you will inspire more people along the way. You’re absolutely right when you said “Time is running out, start living!”. I always tell my friends in the US we are so fortunate here, we can walk up to any restaurants or convenience stores to buy anything we want. I always tell them to visit Philippines and see how the unfortunate ones are living now, the other half of the world.
- Totally! I think if more people in western countries visited places like the Philippines, it would change world-wide perspective. Many things would change (for the better). So many people just don't understand how other people live around the world...
2 adds but didn't skip it. You just passed by and i thought i'll check it out then i subcribed because i felt you are a good man by the way you treat those kids.
While you are thinking they don't get to spend time with their parents, they actually get something American children don't get a lot: the freedom to explore and play with their friends without a helicopter parent hovering over them every second of the day. These are the sort of countries were families live closer together often in the same house. They get to spend plenty of time with their parents. You just don't see it because it happens in private.

it's just saddening that the recent ranking made by the Global peace index placed the Philippines as 2nd least peaceful county in south east Asia just behind North Korea.
LOUIS ERCILLA What can you really expect from those so called world leaders? They even gave *OBAMA the nobel piece price* for bombing the civilians in the Mid-East, and they even let *Saudi Arabia* to be part of the *Human rights council* which is pretty ironic. LOL
Thank you for your compassion to those children Brock🙏🏼 it is sad that we have orphans and governments' resources is scarce here in PI; but there might be a Department of Social Welfare at the local government in the city of Mindoro and the locals might just not know where to go and report it. Hopefully, things will improve under Duterte's administration.. Praying for that🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
You know what giving and being nice feels like, you should allow that to others from time to time. I'm sure the feeling that internet guy had helping you out was worth more than the pesos you insisted in leaving him. Sometimes we are so caught up in doing the right thing we actually do wrong, even if for the right reasons.
- Ehh, I see what you mean. When he offered to charge me nothing, didn't want to accept, but I did. I let him 'have his moment of kindness'. But, the next day, I 'had my moment' by giving him a coin. The 'good feeling' what mutual 😇
It's not weird, kids just want to be with other kids. It's not because the parents are ignoring them for some. Filipinos are just sociable at a very young age.
- This is true, but, when said 'it' is weird....I guess mostly because children being on their own and exploring the city at such a young age is taboo in the western world. If you seen something similar to this in the States, many adults would run up to the children to make sure that they aren't lost, hurt, or something else. It's just a different sight. In addition, it was very rare to see an adult paying with a group a children (basketball...volleyball...etc..) Not necessarily a good or bad thing....it's just an observation, I suppose 🙃
- Out of 18 countries, this was my favorite. Yes, I want to come back...but...there are SO many other countries that I wish to visit as well. Tough decisions lol 🤔
- Ehh, I wouldn't say 'starving' lol. But yes, it was fun. Very refreshing. When I travel, I take the approach of 'who ever stops me and invites me to do something (assuming it is safe) I will accept'. The children here are refreshing, from my perspective. In America, children stay away from 'strangers'. That is what we are told since birth, myself included. Plus, we (everyone) doesn't want to disturb someones privacy. So, as a result, most people do not run up and talk to other people. So, it is considered a bit 'taboo' to follow a child (that is not your own) to....anywhere lol. Anyway, it was fun, yes 😜
- Yep. Taxi is a noun and and also an action. :) So, a tricycle can taxi me around the area. The word can be used in both ways. But yeah, I loosely use taxi/tuk tuk/tricycle/motorbike, as I travel. ;)
You have a good heart puti.. but keep in mind that a little bit of caution with people might think that you are here for child pornography...it happens hundreds of times in a news because of some caucasian looking guy caught in that kind of acitbity.. but i know deep with in you a genuine intention... just a friendly reminder..
- Yeah. I'm aware. My mind is always thinking about what other people are thinking about me as I am swimming or playing basketball or something. I have learned to try my best to ignore that simply focus on the moment and how I can brighten their day. I come to the realization that there are 2 kinds of poverty. 1) The constant feeling of hunger from being financially poor. 2) The constant feeling of being unaccepted and/or cared for by other human being because of being financially poor. #2 can be just as damaging/difficult as #1. I have chosen to give my time to some of those who clearly just need a friend. There life is terrible - and sometimes they just need something to take their mind of the negative things going on. I still have some of them who message me on social media. I just found out yesterday that one of the children I spend time with in Manila passed away. Over the past year they have thanked me countless times for making the videos of all of us just simply walking around. Now they have a video to remember their late friend. Sad indeed topic, all the way around. I try to only spread positivity as I travel.. Thanks for watching :P
Bottom line: Uncontrolled population growth. That's why you see just too many kids everywhere. Just so you should know, the Philippines is the baby manufacturer of the World.
as pinoy i gonna get bashed for this but i dont trust my compatriots, im one of the unlucky pinoy i guess, i got betrayed and cast away as a young age, all i can say is they only good with foreigners
Those children are out because they don't have electronics with them yet. They play the natural way with the other kids. That is the best experience being a kid in the Philippines. The good thing is that during meal time they come home and eat together with the family. You just see them out during playtime.
- Yeah, that's what I have learned.
Electronics are the killer. It's making everyone more antisocial. Blah.
Abroadero Ako Yep & are always supervised by other adults.
Their parents probably would stare at them in a scary way so they go home to eat lol.
I remember when i was little
..my parents wont let me use gadgets so i hang out with my friends and i think its really fun to play with others than to use gadgets
By watching this i get flashbacks
I think im gonna cry 😢😂
But now seeing with my friends its getting akward bcuz were older now but i still love them
Im getting emotional now
Abroadero Ako i used to to the same thing all the time until I moved to Australia. It is so boring here that all I can do is go on my technology .
That's the provincial, local mentality. No need for a designated adult to supervise, the whole barangay keeps them safe & disciplined. If a child/person is harmed, you've the wrath of the whole barangay. Serious...😳
Okra Kubo that is sooo truuuee!
Most of the kids especially those who live in the province always want to play around and be with their playmates while their parents probably working or at home doing some household work. They will come home only when they feel hungry.
- Wow. Interesting way of life. I like it, in a way.
Yup
Yes.. freedom 😄
Freedom away from material things...it's what we called "batang 90's" (90's Kids)
Yap that was me
thank you for immersing yourself to what most filipinos experience daily, and for treating the young man. salamat
- It was so much fun!

In addition, it was very rare to see an adult paying with a group a children (basketball...volleyball...etc..)
Not necessarily a good or bad thing....it's just an observation, I suppose 🙃
filipino kids are very approachable & friendly, maybe due to the fact few tourist go there, those kids just want to have fun with you.
- That's what it felt like. I think so. 🙃
Could you make a video about vietnam?
- I absolutely will. But first, I must pump out all of my videos from my time in the Philippines 🙃
👌
Are you in the Philippines right now?
- Nope. This is edited footage from back in February. It takes sooo long to edit 😏
- Out of 18 countries, this was my favorite. Yes, I want to come back...but...there are SO many other countries that I wish to visit as well. Tough decisions lol 🤔
Somehow I think you're starving for this too, your face lights up when you're around the kids. That's what happens to me too.
10:05 taxi? There's no taxi in san jose. maybe you meant tricycle?
- Yep. Taxi is a noun and and also an action. :)
So, a tricycle can taxi me around the area.
The word can be used in both ways.
But yeah, I loosely use taxi/tuk tuk/tricycle/motorbike, as I travel. ;)
thanks for enlightening me (:
I leave in that area
- I'm jealous. I want to revisit!
You mean live.
has anyone told you that you looked like the vocalisy of coldplay? 😂
- Only 100 different times 😂😂
U look a lil bit like chris martin 😁😁😁
- Maybe Chris Marin looks like me...🤔
Bottom line: Uncontrolled population growth. That's why you see just too many kids everywhere. Just so you should know, the Philippines is the baby manufacturer of the World.
Where are you now?
- I am in Vietnam 😋
