I have to thank you for putting this in that Worst-of video all those years ago. It actually genuinely started me on a path to going into psychological research on what makes people prone to conspiracy theories (or arguably what makes conspiracy theories prone to us) and that has probably shaped my life for the better. Thanks, man.
It is really sad that B.o.B lost his mind. He was a genuinely really good rapper, with some great songs under his belt.
The polar opposite of BoB is Jay Electronica (left-wing antisemite). Believes the Rothschilds rule the world, and the Ukraine/Israel wars were faked, but his Exhibit series with Just Blaze is an artifact in late 2000s hiphop.

Part of Flat Earth theory is that there are military patrols keeping regular people from getting anywhere near the edge of the Earth. Why no one ever tries to film those patrols is a question the theorists can't seem to answer.

Which is especially funny considering they say the military patrol is around the "ice wall of Antarctica" even though there are plenty of tour companies who take adventure tourists to the south pole.

You know what's funny? A massive corporation in the motor industry genuinely did create a conspiracy about 10 minute cities being a tool of oppression, so you weren't far off.
Yeah fossil fuel companies have been doing this shit for years. They weren't even the first either, tobacco companies were calling regulations of their products Big Government overreach long before the "cLiMaTe hOaX" stuff popped off.
And the people who fully believe that walkable cities are bad for no other reason than cause some oil baron told them so are the same people who call themselves "free thinkers" and everyone else sheep.
Plus a fair few pro flat-earth books were probably sold thanks to B.o.B's ringing endorsement.
Plus I'm willing to bet there were at least a few flat earth conventions that charged for admission.
One bit of irony that got me is that there was a flat earth convention in Australia; the irony is that one of the flat earther beliefs is that Australia doesn't exist and all people claiming to be Australian are actors.
Not sure whether that is funny, or just super depressing.
I feel like this song inspired underground rappers to talk about their crazy conspiracy theories a lot more

I use to not know that lizard people were an antisemitic conspiracy theory for a long time, like even as a kid, and I sounded like a dick when I said “there should be a horror movie on lizard people”

Crazy how big the meme/concept of the lizard theory has outgrown its nasty origins so much that the global association with the theory now is something more aligned with Mark Zuckerberg being a reptile and other high-acting top ranking people acting in on some new world order type situation. Still a harmful concept but crazy it’s just a ridiculous theory for most and isn’t even related to the harmful concept it originated from in the 1st place

It's kinda sad how back then, rap critic had to explain to us what the lizard people conspiracy theory is. Nowadays you would have to live under a rock to not know about groups of people, including politicians and other popular figures, who genuinely believe in stuff like this.

imo that's exactly why conspiracy theories are so appealing to people like this. It's a way for them to feel smarter than the average person, or even an educated person in their own mind without actually having to do the studying
@@brycenall4410I'VE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR SO LONG, I FELT LIKE I WAS THE CONSPIRACY THEORIST. THANK YOU SO MUCH. There's a reason they deflect everything by saying it's invalid or "you need to do 'real research'" instead of hearing people out. It's a defense mechanism of the mind to feel validated for people who can't/ don't want to take the time most do to feel that kind of validation. Almost a mind drug in a way. And it also effects people's sanity in an almost similar way that frequent drug use does.

Seeing where B.o.B ended up just makes me sad. He really was the first rapper i followed, and in general served as an introduction to a lot of other artists for me (EG, finding Kid Kudi from Pandora mixing his music into BoB music).
I sort of fell of listening to him when he released "All I Want" (which kinda just served as an inverse of "Forget about the pricetag"), but when i heard about the flat earth stuff i just got really sad.
I looked into him the other day, and saw a more recent (2023) song from him "How to make a clone", which was just more insanity.
And whats worse is hes been accepted by other radical conspiracists, that basically just cheer him on. And he buys in because theyre basically the only people that listen to him now. Just a tragic case all around.
And people wonder why B.o.B disappeared.

Up in the clouds he has has multiple songs where he is looking down from space or shoot for the stars, which if you got up there, you would know the Earth is not fucking flat. Boom Roasted. His music goes back and forth. This dude made a song called Dr Amen about how the government were giving people aids and diseases on some Lupe Fiasco Shit. So him to go to that to flat Earth his 2017 album was very groovy and phycadelic rock inspired. Failed to sell shit, but was a flavorful forgettable album.
His verse on Tech N9ne's "I'm A Psycho" was also pretty good. The hell happened to him?

And that kinda stuck with me. Mainly because i feel like so many people know about the governments corruptions but even knowing that we dont do anything to change it.
Usa has the 2nd amendment to fight tyranny and yet here we are sitting around letting tyranny win and wr arent doing anything.
Instead, people flex and exacerbate the 2nd Amendment to intumidate minorities and polling stations.
It's doubly funny because most people forget that tyranny rises because there is a significant amount of people in a given country that supports that tyranny. And many of those people are armed. A certain leader in Germany in the late 1930s had a lot of armed followers who were willing to, and indeed did die for him during his attempts to rise to power. The junta in Chile happened when the military decided to take over the government, but there were citizens that supported them through it all, whether they were actually aligned with the junta or just wanting to be on the winning team. The and there are quite a few americans, including many with guns, who are actually OK with a dictatorship as long as said dictator shares their political opinions. (Admittedly Pinochet got a lot of help from the US to get to where he was, too, but my point is that there were and still are regular people in the country that support him despite how tyrannical he was) A dictator doesn't rise to power without people who like the dictator's ideas on how to run the country helping them out.
