@@georgehollins yeah I heard that the creators faulted real life Marilyn for a lot of the traumas she endured and also fabricated a lot. I recommend Karine Alourde’s for a more accurate and respectful depiction of Marilyn. It’s not a movie and it’s just short of 30 mins I believe, but she breakdowns a lot Marilyn’s life in it

@@georgehollins only recommend the song "Uh-Oh" from (G)I-DLE. Because the song has a retro hip hop theme. So of course it is very suitable to react for you who are a stylist. Then another good MV for you is Latata & Señorita
This comeback really is a piece of art, everything about it is perfect from the visual to the lyrics. They thought about every detail. And the fact that they even got Shuhua to bleach her hair just for this. Also i like how they took current trends but they added their own twists.
My fave looks were mostly on Shuhua, ithat girl chose violence for this comeback and I'm here for it.
Oh does Shuhua never bleach her hair? I meaaaan you have to it you're going to be giving us Marilyn vibes. Shuhua looks incredible with her blonde hair! Oh absolutely, that's what fashion is all about. Trends are one thing but when you have a personal style and you can make a trend your own, big big respect!

@@georgehollins Shuhua has refused since debut to dye her hair because she wanted to stay as natural to herself as possible but when Soyeon came up with this concept she asked Shuhua if she would be willing to go blonde for the concept and Shuhua felt that it was important so she did. They slayed this comeback. And the little animation felt like they included Soojin (the mole under the animations right eye is the same as Soojin)
@@georgehollins No, she never did and she mentioned that she will never do it. That’s why it was such a shock. Soyeon prepared a PowerPoint presentation to explain why it’s necessary for them to be “dumb” blendes, she even had a back up concept in case Shuhua refused. But she agreed after thinking about it for a couple of days. She said she was bitting her hand trough the whole process. 😆 Gotta respect their commitment.
As for the trend, they were pretty much trendsetters since debut. Minnie and Yuqi even made a song about it. 😆

About nude, it's just such a badass song isn't it? i love how they once again are breaking the stereotypes within kpop and South Korea criticizing the way society views female celebrities and women in general. Gidle never disappoints!
Ahhh this makes me so happy! Well it sounds like you know some stuff about fashion now 😉 that's exactly what I love about Gidle! I was listening to a podcast earlier actually about the Male Gaze by Call Her Daddy, it was really interesting
THIS is Soyeon masterpiece (alongside Lion in my opinion) The message, the styling, the details within the editing, the cheeky Soojin reference, the references were made in such a respectful way to Marilyn, they didn't portrayed her as just the sexy dumb blonde and I love it. AND! The fact that they even had a whole different concept and title track backed up JUST if Shuhua didn't want to bleach her hair is... is what a good and caring leader would do, round of applause to (G)I-dle for this comeback. This alongside Feel My Rhythm remain as the best produced and most creative MVs in 2022

The look of Seoyeon during her rap section reminds me of Schiaparelli. I thought you might talk a bit about that look. 😂😂
I spoke about it and then cut it from the video just because it was getting too long and I wanted to focus on Soyeon's cone bra look. Soyeon's rap section look is insanely beautiful. Everything from the cut of the top, the silhouette of the skirt with all of the beautiful tulle at the bottom, the embellishment with the hair, make up and nails. Perfection!

Soyeon is a fucking genius
The not so conspiracy, conspiracy theory.
The animated woman is blonde Soojin. A few disagree saying it's Marilyn. Once Norma Jean became Marilyn you never saw her long hair again. It was always the iconic short hairstyle.
Marilyn had a mole/birthmark but it was on her lower cheek near her lips and nose. The animated character has it under her left eye. You know who else has a mole/birthmark under her left eye?
Soojin.
Only real argument is the blue eyes. But Kpop idols wear colored lenses frequently. And Soyeon probably decided on blue eyes because if they were brown it would be GLARINGLY obvious.
In the end, Soyeon and the girls know what they are doing. And as much as Neverland misses Soojin, the girls miss her even more. There were subtle homages to Soojin in Tomboy/I Never Die and it doesn't stop there. And if Cube called Soyeon out on it there's plausible deniability. "The animated character is generic with blue eyes" is all she has to say.
But Nevies know. We know.
All that said, I always look forward to and love your reactions. No one really talks about Kpop fashion and I don't think I've ever disagreed with your assessments. Spot fucking on, George!
