The belt driven one is just slightly more off balance. That’s like having a direct drive fan and a belt drive fan but the direct drive is a bit less off balance than the belt drive fan, then trying to say “yeah the belt is the issue that’s why it’s off balance” no blade weight and clock is. Same thing here the weight is off and whichever has more off balance weight will perform worse, direct or belt driven. My goodness. 🤦🏼♂️
I have had a few types of front loaders, and after I got my first (used) LG... I am not going back. I got a second one that was "broken", replaced the drain pump and it's worked great ever since. I love how well designed they seem to be, compared to the cheaper feeling designs of some of the others. And yes, it's quieter and more "controlled" feeling, with more of a smooth ramp up and down and less shaking.
you can buy a washing machine from DD for 500 USD no other brand offers anything better in this amount. Miele washing machines are better but what's the point if at this price I can replace LG every 3 years

i have two electrolux washers, both conventional system, they are whisper quiet during tumbling (unlike that piece of crappy candy i had before the electrolux) tho during spin these things are extremly loud, tho they don't shake at all during most loads.
My LG washers computer will try to rebalance an unbalanced wash load then shut off if it can't correct itself and shut off long before any old fashioned shaking or moving out of the room.

As you can see in the video, both the belt system and the "direct drive" system are connected to the washing machine chassis through springs and shock dampeners. The advantages of direct drive are less vibration, noise and moving parts. The disadvantage is that the motor driver often doesn't last the life of the motor (or vice versa). You say that the motor-belt system is affixed to the washing machine chassis (right?). I haven't seen that in recent fully automatic models (less than 20 years old). All those recent models have the motor-belt assembly screwed to the Tub, which is suspended by springs (which have dampening integrated in top load models) and supported by shock dampeners (front load models).

Functionally, there is no difference, but the belt drive is infinitely easier to repair should something go wrong. My belt driven Miele has worked perfectly now for 30 years. Two friends have to throw out their LGs because it began making really loud grinding noises when spinning.

Not so sure about this... Have you seen the size of the magnets and windings on an LG motor? They're beasts, and well known in the industry for their power. Start up an LG WM in test mode and quickly cycle the mode from stopped to full speed spin and the machine will shake the building dumping hundreds of amps into that motor and launching that wash basket into low-earth-orbit in a startlingly short amount of time! Obviously they're not programmed to run this way for good reason, but the power on tap in these is much more impressive than the whiny little vacuum cleaner motor and belt in other brands. 😅

Just bought thie new lg combo and this thing is silent af. My washer is next to my living room in the hallway, and i never hear it. No shaking. I didn't buy it for this purpose, but i noticed it right away. I kept thinking it wasn't washing but it was running wonderfully❤
That’s just marketing my machine has been vibrating and shaking during the spin cycle just like the “conventional” side. It’s also super loud called lg and they said I had to pay for a person to come out (not even an lg tech but some local companies) I would have to pay for it. It’s funny because the washer has a sticker that says direct drive and anti vibration yet this is the only washer in my 30 years that has done the very thing it claims not to do

And I had the intellow washer 7kg back in 2002 (before they become popular) that had a belt and motor but was a silent one and was nearly as quiet all the way back then! my new lg is with Direct drive , turbowash, and ThinQ Wi-Fi machines would never of thought this back when I was 18 years old with my first lg washer that was like state of the art back then. I had to have it 😂☺️ Now 39 on my 2nd one hope it lasts as long as the last one did 🙂 You’re tv 📺 are great to on my 2nd one first one lasted 9 years and was still working but I sold it as bought a new one. Happy customer
I agree with you BUT Miele are not what they used to be. We had Miele for years, first few were fantastic but when they eventually wore out, we upgraded. One lasted 18 months before totally dying and being "uneconomic to repair". Second has just been written off after 2 years after effectively exploding when the counterweight flew off mid spin. Not good enough for £1500 a pop. Ordered an LG a hour ago and it's coming tomorrow, let's see what that does.

And I didn’t get a new one off them either. Bought a 2nd hand Miele and the drainage chamber got cracked during a spin can’t find the part anywhere hence why I got a new washing machine the lg! I also have a Miele heat pump tumble dryer that broke down twice but thankfully was fixed each time. So I am with you I don’t find them much better than a ordinary washing machine quality is good but when it goes wrong , it’s goes REALLY WRONG 😑 And I think the lg gets the clothes cleaner now I have had it over a year and was a lot cheaper. But yeah I am done with Miele now but do love my dryer from them. But it’s getting on now… I am sure you will love you’re lg washer.
@@colinsace1 Hi mate, I'm dead chuffed with the LG, it's been in constant use lately; with 4 kids, a elderly grandparent who can't do their own washing so we do it for them, and myself and my wife working in healthcare so we have 5 uniforms each to wash a week. It's been great, everything is cleaner than I expected, stains have been removed and is only around 10% louder than our last Miele.....and literally half the price with a 5 year warranty. I can't complain!

The belt acts like a cassette player belt I think that way since it spins it stretches overtime and becomes unusable overtime

Mine lasted 13 years. Only failed because of the bearings.

@@paul_koOne advantage of belt drive is water doesn't leak into the motor when the shaft seal fails. A lot of belt driven machines now also have inverter driven brushless motors due to their higher efficiency. The 3 phase inverter is another thing that can go wrong and an expensive part to replace.
