Hearing the loons on my canoe trip along the boundary waters is among the best memories I have of my youth. Thank you for helping me relive that moment.
I also appreciate having the BWCA as my back yard ... only a few hour drive north and you can breath. Thanks for sharing enjoyed the virtual camping trip.🌲 Yup I retired early age 62 a decade ago... new chapter. Good capture of the eagle flying ... not an easy subject to film.🦅
Congrats on the well earned retirement! Your shows will be missed for sure! Glad you were able to get out, being holed up having no fun for too long is no good! We finally got back out for a good one this past weekend as well. Good to see a Shug video from the trail again!
I was setting up my hammock two nights ago in a lovely spot by a lake. Caught myself saying, "on the knot, not the toggle". Thanks to you, I sleep wonderfully in a hammock now on my backpacking trips. Enjoy your retirement days Shug, you've earned it!
Nothing much better than those early morning hikes. I love hearing nature waking up. Beautiful area for backpacking. I’m glad sector 7 is secure. The Maple King is the King of the outdoors 😁😁
I’m almost ashamed to admit how much I’ve missed your walks in the woods. Sitting here recovering from total knee replacement unable to hike myself, this is the next best thing. A much needed break from the madness of our world. It needs more people like Hickory and yourself.
Oh man! Old shug back in moviemode! loving that grassweeping action! You sir, are an inspiration! King of lollygag never retires, just stop getting paid for it! Keep it up and stay safe!
@@shugemery Hi shug, OutandBack from Hammockforums.net, I hope you know that anyone that has posted to this video has had to endure 4-6 ads that have nothing to do with hammock camping before we get to see your video. Congratulations on your retirement! The State Fair won't be the same without you. You picked the perfect time to get away from the chaos, and now I have something better to watch than the TV Thank You!
First of all congratulations Shug on your retirement. I know in a way it's bittersweet because you're a natural entertainer, and a great one at that. Enjoy! It was so satisfying seeing you finally out there with your couple of friends doing what you love to do. It was great seeing you bring Hickory into the video. Boy how I miss seeing the Hickory Brothers together. Really hope you can get together soon. So sorry for the events that took place. I pray you and your family stay happy, healthy and safe. Thank you Shug
Hey, Thanks for taking the time to show us part of your life. The distraction is much appreciated and needed. Nothing wrong with slowing it down. Congrats on the retirement, enjoy and have fun in Sector 7....
It was 4 years ago that I had written you. I asked if you thought a few healing old vets could survive a trip in the Boundary Waters. You gave some great advice. Thanks to you we have a yearly trip; 2 trips BWCA, Isle Royale and Lake George. Our group gets a little bigger each year. And we all enjoy your video’s. Also caught the show last two years at the Wisconsin State Fair. Enjoy Retirement brother!!!

Congrats on retirement ole team mate! Spend as much time in the woods as you can. You won't regret it. I got myself a canoe last year and started fishing again after 20 years. Also teaching my grandkids how to fish. It's great doing what you want when you want, finally!

Man thoses Loons are incredible a sight and sound that filled me with envy, we're just starting to ease lockdown here in Scotland we can travel a little further but camping is still a no no which is a bummer as it's the ultimate social distancing but thats just the way it is it'll be all the sweeter when we get to do it. Congratulations on your well deserved retirement Shug stay safe and secure.
I only found your videos a couple of months ago but have watched many, many hours already. Your videos inspired me to start making my own (just last weekend)! I'll never be able to compete given all the awesome fun stuff you can do and how great you entertain, but hope to at least help a few get out there and enjoy the world or answer some questions. Thank you!
Just what we all needed: Shug in the piney north woods. Thanks for taking us along. It did us both some good. WB! Congratulations on your promotion to full-time lollygagger.
"Let's make it a better world people" well said, Shug. Bummed that I'll never see you perform at WI State Fair but the important thing is that you've finally made the decision to retire...CONGRATS young man! Thanks for giving us a break from our new reality.

Super congrats on your retirement ! I enjoyed the video, I hope you keep doing videos. I have been retired three years now. It is better than working. I hope you are able to stay safe during these times.
Good update Thank you for posting this 👍🌲 Me as well got my paperwork for retiring .62 here in NH The governor has eased up on the trail closures , you know social distancing and all . There hasn't been any real protests just some bigger city street corner sign holding pretty quiet
I echo all the congratulations on your retirement, Shug. That moose carcass at the beginning was quite a find! Poor moose. Glad you got out for a spring hang & purdy boil in the piney forest, away from the craziness of the world. Hope you took the middle piece of that Sayklly's bar. All's secure in Sector 7...
Thank you for sharing and congrats on deciding to retire! Hope that doesn't mean your videos /:. Stay safe! Love watching all your videos! Thanks for taking my mind off of all that is going on for 26 minutes. Every little bit helps.
Retirement is awesome ! If you ever want to do a few days on the Northville-Placid Trail, give me a shout out ! Great trail and great views of the Adirondacks ! Stay cool, love your videos. Congrats !
I just got back from the BWCA last week. This was the first year that I used a hammock setup. Most of what I learned trying to prep for the trip (in terms of the hammock) I learned from this channel. Thanks for putting this info out there man.
Thanks for the walk about Shrug it was nice seeing your northern Minnesota woods in the spring. Be safe my friend much peace and love from Northeast Texas.
Congratulations on your retirement, can’t think of a better time to disconnect a little more from this crazy world. Thanks for continuing to put out your videos. I’m stuck here in quarantine in my house (fortunately with mild symptoms) and your videos keep me going! Your closing really got to me though. I always wait for you stay all clear in sector 7, I even say it to my son when we finish a task or a project. But when you couldn’t say it, well that was pretty powerful. Anyway, glad you and your family is healthy and safe.
I miss the Boundary Waters. Been there four times and want to get back sometime soon! It's fun to watch your Linville Gorge videos. I live about an hour from there and love that place!
Congrats on the retirement! Enjoy! I hope I can retire in a couple years when I hit 62. It will be retirement in poverty, but I'm OK with that. I headed for the north as soon as Wisconsin set us free. I made it about a mile from my camping area when the spring broke on my van and gave me a flat and damaged the CV boot. I managed to tape it back together good enough to limp it the 4-hour trip back home.
Thanks for your videos. Native northern Minnesotan relocated to the SW a few years ago - These jaunts of yours make me a little homesick, but mostly just during this season. ;) Keep hiking & congrats on retirement.
Happy retirement my friend it is very deserved for you! and what a wonderful video still with the little cafe this morning was amazing! Merci Shug ! Pickleball Xxx
Congratulations on the retirement Sir- you deserve it... please do not retire from making high quality videos and music. Thank you for all you do for us.

Thankee. That was actually just a deer carcass.
Great stuff as always, old buddy. A bunch of us needed this.
Congratulations, Shug. Much love.
Whooooo Buddy)))) and All secure in sector seven!!!!
Congrats on retiring. I'm hoping that means more content from you. You are my favorite UA-cam hiker and a fellow Minnesotan.
Congratulations on you're retirement Shug, Enjoy buddy! I look forward to your next installment. Xx
I miss the Boundary Waters. Been there four times and want to get back sometime soon! It's fun to watch your Linville Gorge videos. I live about an hour from there and love that place!
BWCA is amazing. If not just for the sound of the loons.
@@shugemery One of my favorite water fowl species! Hope you and yours are staying safe in the twin cities!
You are terrific! Thanks for being awesome!
