Great Video. Can I know why you changed your injectors at 160K. What signs or error codes you got. I gave JK 2009 crd which having error p0299 only at highway when driving at constant speed. Almost replaced everything related to turbocharger system but still getting the same code. One guy from Brazil is suggesting to replace the injectors. My jeep has done 160K only
P0299 is probably a split turbo hose, relatively common once KMs get up there. Recommend replacing with samco aftermarket hoses. I replaced at 160 odd as one of them failed and a second wasn't far. I was getting undervoltage codes, and eventually jeep was stalling under load
Hi, ran for a while without being coded, was fine, tolerance for these is pretty close. Eventually got coded a local jeep mechanic who had the computer to do it
Awesome video mate!! Well done!! What is the best way to clean the 4 holes where the injectors goes back in? As mine was very dirty don't want to clog or damage my engine?
Thanks mate! I would be very careful to not get any muck down in there when you're injectors are out. When you say dirty assume oily? super clean rag if really bad
@@VideoShowMeHow my engine is out and on an engine stand ( spun bearing and doing an engine swap) It's oily and with a bit of sand. I plan turning the engine upside down, blocking the hole and spraying it with a bit of brake cleaner.
Good evening and nice to meet you Adam! My vehicle (2003 DODGE CARAVAN SE) is giving me 3 codes (P1684) (P0201) and (P0420). Are you able to please show me on video how to apply these 3 diagnostic tests for code (P0201)? 1st Diagnostic Test Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the fuel injector harness connector. Remove the ASD relay from the IPM. Turn the ignition on. Jumper the fused B+ circuit and the ASD relay output circuit in the IPM. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe the (K342) ASD relay output circuit. Does the test light blink/flicker brightly? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair the open in the (K342) ASD relay output circuit. 2nd Diagnostic Test Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Fuel Injector harness connector. Disconnect the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) harness connector. Measure the resistance of the fuel injector driver circuit between the fuel injector harness connector and the PCM harness connector. Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no repair the open in the fuel injector driver circuit. 3rd Diagnostic Test Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the fuel injector harness connector. Disconnect the PCM harness connector. Measure the resistance between ground and the fuel injector driver circuit in the fuel injector harness connector. Is the resistance below 100 k/ohms? If yes, repair the short to ground in the fuel injector driver circuit. If no, go to next step.
mega important! always fit new injector bolts they are stretch torqued and MUST NOT be reused plus always check bottom of injector hole base is clean and smooth if not use cutter tool to reface. sorry to criticise a good vid but is important or injectors will come loose.
Great video. I'm a licenced mechanic but don't have much to do with crd systems. I've been told on several occasions that once you remove the fuel pipes to the injectors on a crd, you throw them away and install new ones because of the high pressure generated by the crd fuel pump. Is this not true?? And also, do we need to release the fuel pressure from the fuel lines before unscrewing them??
Hi, thanks for supporting with the subscribe and comment :) Are you referring to the solid in lines or the non pressure diesel return lines? Either way they don't need to be replaced unless damaged. Particular care needs to be given on the return lines retainer clip, it's only a plastic thing.
Oh and re releasing pressure should fine, just disconnect battery before starting anything and if you wanted to be extra cautious just wait 30 for excess diesel to drain. I've found by the time I'm up to that bit I just crack the first one slowly and a little excess diesel dribbles out but that's about all, never had a problem
I was just wondering I have a puddle of fuel where the injectors sit and they run down towards the transmition would it be best to change all of them ? How much did the set of injectors cost you ? How many kms did you have on your before yours failed ? What happend when your injectors failed ?
hi there, sounds like it could be your seals failing or the injectors themselves. you def don't want excess diesel there over time, will make them impossible to get out. I replaced mine at around 160k and got them from the UK as they're very expensive in Australia. Was around $400 AUD at the time from memory.
You could remove them and have them tested at a Bosch centre, that works give you an idea. Don't have the link sorry mate, was a year or two ago.. I bought them via eBay
hi Adam, my jk crd 2011 having difficulty to start/no start. the code is P0088 high fuel rail pressure. After replacing the fuel rail pressure regulator now I can start it easily/normally. But the still existing problem is the fuel distance range and fuel consumption liter/100kms is gradually increasing. When idling it decreases, when driving it increases. Now already increase from first engine on 10.4/100km to 11.5/100km during driving for about 8kms. it gradually increases the fuel consumption. I have replace the fuel rail sensor too, no effect. do you think my injectors are faulty? if possible pls make a video showing how to coding the injector to the ECU for jk wrangler CRD. thank you
Worth cleaning your map and maf sensors, these can impact eco if dirty. To code the injectors you have to go to a work shop you need the big scanner to do them
@@VideoShowMeHow noted, yes I will clean those sensors first. you know Im not a mechanic but because of you I can do small maintenance incl. removing/installing injectors, fuel filter, oil filter, how to remove/open differential cover, transmission oil change etc. thanks very much.
My Jeep has became very hard to start when warm. Once started it drives perfectly, no smoke, good economy, lots of power. Now it is rapidly becoming harder to start when cold. I have been told to change the injectors. Does this sound right?
Hmm possibly.. are you in a cold climate? It's unusual for glow plugs to go in these but not unheard of. Otherwise I'd pull the injectors and have them tested before replacing, you might find it's just one of them. If you run an obd scanner you can also check the rail pressure and injector pressures to see if you have any abnormalities. (have just uploaded a vid on the channel how to set these up) They can be very expensive. If you need to replace, Don't buy from a dealer, see what you can find online/eBay
Great "Show Me How" video! Always a pleasure learning from you. Keep it up, mate! Btw, do you by any chance still have the "Show Me How" video on the catch-can installation? Am interested in getting one installed in my '08 CRD too! Thanks in advance.
@@VideoShowMeHow no its only been on 2 weeks, seems to be an issue on them on hilux etc. Especially on engine braking etc, also the vid on injectors was top notch
Hi Carl, tricky as they can be well stuck sometime. I'd recommend plenty of penatrating spray, time to let it soak. If still no go then slide hammer. If STILL no go might have to look at some sort of press (I've seen someone need a 3T one before!). There's a bunch of videos on here if your search 'stuck injector'
The tool you need is Vm9075a. I need that tool but there is none around for sale and no one will rent one to me as i am struggli g to get mine out. I broke one with a slide hammer so be careful if you use one.
Great video Curious how long are the injectors. Because I look at injector no4 on my 02' 2.8CRD and it just doesnt look like there is room to remove it. If the injector is stuck in put a nut back on the diesel top feed and use it for a point to leverage it out. Just wanted to mention the large circular seals are a high heat rubber called "viton seals"(viton seals normally are coloured red) and when they breakdown from excessive heat are poisonous (they look like charcoal but ooze liquid so wear gloves) not all injectors use them. And I'm surprised you didnt get replacement ones with the new injectors. Also most common rail diesels also have a washer between the head of the injector on the cylinder head that are their to bear the brunt of the combustion gasses which should be replaced (very hard and annoying to do due to carbon build up) they gunk up and very hard to see them even when you know to look. but excellent video and commentary and correct information
Thanks for your comment. The no4 was a little tricky, I found moving the main wiring loom at the back 'forward' gave enough space to pull up and out that way.
Great video. I think I have an issue with my jeep KJ 2.8 CRD flowing to much and bypassing into the engine oil. Once I've leak tested this will be useful to replace any.
