    I put the 4 hole injectors in my '98 XJ 4.0. They are just amazing. The XJ runs smoother, starts quicker and I am definitely getting better millage. I used to get about 170 miles from a tank of gas, now I am get like 230miles from a tank! Very nice

      smaller injector holes clog easier so your car may run better for the first few weeks or few months but after that the injector with the small holes may clog and u will have problems all over again . i just bought a replacement injector with 4 tiny holes that can barely be seen unless u use a magnifying glass and i am not gonna install it but i am gonna exchange it for an injector with a larger single hole to insure no clogging for many years .

      I was just thinking about that if you are tossing them in a 20 plus year old fuel system & tank full of gunk!

    • @harvestblades
      @harvestblades Рік тому

      Which ones did you toss in? I see another channel has fake 4 hole injectors from ebay that look just like these yellow ones? How is it running ad I am concerned about the new injectors with smaller ports getting clogged due to a dirty old fuel system. I'm really curious and bet simply cleaning or tossing in OEM single port would still make a noticeable dufferents vs the crudy 20 year old injectors.

      well i just installed a simple one hole injector and it is doing the same thing your 4 hole injector is doing . the reason your injector is making the car run better is simply because it is new . i stuck with the one hole injector because that is what was originally used on my vehicle and my advice is to stick with the type injector and number of holes your vehicle was designed for .

    Ive seen a video of dyno results going from stock injectors, to 4 hole, to 12 hole on the jeep 4.0, The 4 hole gave the biggest overall hp improvement, the 12 hole gave just a little less hp compared to the 4 hole, however the 12 hole added more torque than the 4 hole. With that being said, the stock injectors had atleast 150k on them (i forget the mileage, it was a jeep XJ), after the 1st dyno w/ stock injectors, he swapped in the 4 hole and did another dyno run, then swapped in the 12 hole and did the dyno run.
    The ECU and adaptive memory did not have any time to learn the optimal characteristics on how to go about controlling the new injectors. With my experience, the 4.0 needs to do a few complete drive cycles to get the overall best mpg and performance.
    When I first installed my 4 hole injectors roughly 8 or 9 years ago, first test run i noticed a smoother idle, much quicker pedal response, and quicker pickup off the line, however just about the same fuel mileage (leaning in the direction of a tad more fuel being used per tank, but not much).
    After a month of having them in, i checked again, and thats when i seen the big increase per tank. I forget the exact numbers as this was almost 10 years ago, however i know i get a minimum 400 miles per tank at a 50/50 split of city and highway/backroad driving.
    When i did the tests, it was mainly highway and backroad driving to work and back ever day, somewhere around 45miles/45minutes 1 way with less than 10min city driving.

      @@JeepSolid seeing that you mentioned it starting lol, i installed upgraded cables in the engine bay, noticed a big difference on how quickly it starts. About two years ago i noticed my starter sounded a little week, even with leaving the battery on charge overnight. It would crank for close to 3 seconds before started up. Once i did the power cable upgrade, i noticed a big difference in how quickly it starts, i don't need to have the key in the starter position for more than a second before it fires up. K suspension is who did the video comparison on the injectors if you want to look it up, they also have the cable upgrade you can buy, however its pretty easy to DIY with some thick gauge welding wire, copper lugs, and a fuse block. Definitely something to look into, and if done neat, it makes the engine bay look a little bit better.

  • @BFPolarBear

    I swapped my injectors to 4 hole ones from a Dodge Neon. My smoother startup is likely because the 4 hole injectors were clean. The one hole injectors spray into the back of the valve so when the engine heats up, the nebulization should be fine even though it's one stream. Cold starts may be better off with the 4 holes.
    The flow volume of the 4 hole injectors were close enough to the stock ones such that the ecu can trim to what it needs. My 2000 XJ 4.0L with the A4 transmission gets 22mpg on the highway if I go 65mph. It's stock build with 130k miles.

    I went with 4 hole injectors on my V8 ZJ. I saw about a half mpg improvement and smoother idle. I really think the mileage boost was more from "new" injectors compare to the original one's with 247k miles on them. I would still recommend the upgrade as if I'm going to replace an item I would rather take the opportunity to do an upgrade.

    Not the belt, just a tensioner pulley. Always turn key to on position and give it 2-3seconds to pressurize your rail. It will start faster evertime. Also, when replacing injectors, pull fuel pump fuse and start and let run until it dies. Shouldn't be much fuel left in rail after that! Don't pull injector fuses! Lol

    My results, ran like a dog would actually stall out sometimes. “Cleared” the ecu, my biggest problem is getting the engine warm enough, new fan cleaned out the block really well (lots of hot flushes) and a 185° t stat. I think I’m stuck in closed loop ( or is it open?) not reading off of the 02 sensors. Went back to oem injectors. And they seemed more responsive. I ohm’d all 12 out and old were 14.7 new 15.9 all +\- .1 of an ohm I need to flow test the new ones make sure they spray clean. Ran the new ones 150 miles on a 24 mile loop back and forth on a road didn’t improve. Kinda bummed 🙁. I’ll get supplies to flow test/clean them.

    You are not going to see a significant increase in gas mileage. The engine will idle and run smoother. New injectors are a great idea anyways if they are the originals. Keep in mind that the only filter in line on most models is on the intake inside the tank. If you question your fuel at all an inline filter is probably a great idea especially going to a smaller hole on the injectors. My 99 XJ with Pacesetter header & 2.5" exhaust (no crush point behind the manifold) and 4 hole Mustang injectors now pulls strong from 60 to 90mph and easily spins the tires (255/55/18) from a start.

      Injectors usually clog up with debris that gets past the fuel filter, there is also varnish build up. I added an extra inline fuel filter to my Jeep along with the PIA ONE in the tank. I would say NO ( JUST MY OPINION ) that the 4 or 12 hole injectors will not clog up because of the smaller holes. Almost all the ones I've cleaned was either crap in the screen filter inside the injector or the Pintle is not working, dead injector. I also run cleaner in my fuel tank & buy the best gas I can. I have to run 89 Octane in my 97 4.0 ZJ or it has bad performance & terrible fuel mileage. Any higher Octane gas & I see NO DIFFERENCE ? I'll probably switch to the 12 hole injectors ?

    Ummmmm Dale.... I believe you were supposed to remove the lil white plastic rings that were on the outlet 4 hole side...I'm pretty sure they are just there to hold the o-rings in place during shipping... I'm actually doing mine tomorrow with those same type.
    I tried to do mine a few weeks ago, had it all the new ones in the rail and went to insert them onto the ports...and they didn't fit. Turned out they sent me the wrong part number. I had to reinstall my old ones, after cleaning them up a bit... They resent me the same as you now, the right part number now. I've already removed my white rings. Just used a pair of needle nose pliers to pop them off... I'll update ya about the removal of those white plastic rings...
    Please, please, please check for leaks around the mating surface between the injector and the head... I'd really hate for all your work to go up in flames my friend...

    • @JeepSolid
      @JeepSolid  4 роки тому

      They came with plastic covers over them that I removed.

    • @Flyby-1000
      @Flyby-1000 4 роки тому +1

      Huh... mine didn't come with a cover over the injector nozzles, just that nylon plastic ring that looks like it's holding the o-ring in place for shipping. The old injectors don't have anything between the o-ring and the o-ring seat in the intake manifold. I guess if it's not leaking...then it's not leaking...but are those nylon rings going to stand up to the heat?!?!
      I was supposed to do mine yesterday, but good ol' home ownership tasks got in the way....had to prioritize... Just did mine this morning. Had them done in about 40 mins... Easy peasy..... Purrs like a kitten.... Installed without the rings, I kept the rings though just in case...

      Ive had the 12 hole in my wj for 2 years. My fuel mileage went from 12.5mpg to 16mpg , but that could have just been just replacing dirty, worn out injectors. I do feel that it starts better and idles smoother.

    Great fuel injection swap out but why didn't you show the fuel injectors after you started it up they could be leaking? Also you should have shown the inside of the fuel rail there could be a lot of corrosion and rust in there that might need to be cleaned.
