A bunch of us watched Ferris Beuller's Day Off back in the 80's. When the movie finished there was the usual rush to leave the theatre, so some of us stayed behind to miss the crush. We saw Ferris Beuller address us, telling us to leave! We told our other mates, but they thought we made it up! Since then I have always watched a movie to the end of the credits and beyond, hoping for that sweet surprise.
I really love the scene from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001): ".... You know it, but... a Jay and Silent Bob movie? Feature length? Who'd pay to see that?" [Holden, Jay, and Bob look into the camera]
I never imagined Hermione saying that (6:36) to any audience (4th wall break), and I must've seen this movie a dozen times! If you want another example, look no further than two iconic TV shows! Get Smart & Gilligan's Island! Both Don Adams as Maxwell Smart and Alan Hale jr. as The Skipper frequently broke the 4th wall and looked at the camera (audience). AND you have to include all the "Road" pictures with Bob Hope & Bing Crosby!! Every one of them broke the 4th wall!!
Still love that Mel Brooks went to George Lucas to ask if he could do a satire of Star Wars with the leading man being like Han Solo. Lucas said as long as you don't dress him like Han Solo it's fine, so Brooks dressed him like Indiana Jones.
At the end of Pretty in Pink, John Cryer turns and looks at the camera after seeing that a hot girl is checking him out. That is the only time in the movie that the audience is acknowledged. I always thought it was strange.
I love Deadpool comics. I remember one when he is talking to the comic book reader and Cable is like, who the hell are you talking to. Everyone in the comic just thinks he's insane, lol.
one thing that was funny amongst the whole movie when he makes comments on the mansion and no one being there except two people and in the other he's referring to the empty house inside and all the people, are in one room closing the door good stuff epic
That...that was a very creepy scene, i always thought it was some sort of sam raimi element from his horror roots, that movie did have a lot of creepy/scary moments for a marvel movie
In Killertomatoes 2, they run out of money to continue shooting the film and while discussing solutions, George Clooney suggests product placements, which they do extensively for the next 5 minutes or so.
Sadly, you forget the advertisings in The Truman Show, which talks both for imaginary public of The Truman Show and for real audience of the movie !!! 😊😊😊
It's criminal that this list did not mention the last scene of the movie Wanted (2008). SPOILER... he talks about how he took control of his life. From his boss, his job, his coworkers, his girlfriend, etc etc. Then looks in the camera and says "what the f*ck have you done lately..?"
Breaking the wall in a comedy, especially a Mel Brooks comedy, doesn't really count. That's part of their schtick. Breaking the wall effectively in a drama, now that takes creativity.
I can't believe you didn't choose the best fourth wall-breaking: when Harold (Harold & Maude) looks at us, the public, with the knowing smile of a kid who's just done something very bad. ua-cam.com/video/fa_H2zd8Ybs/v-deo.html
In Luis Buñuel "Los Olvidados" (The Forgotten Ones) is a scene where main character Pedro don't want to be looked at, so he throws an egg at the camera. 😁 ua-cam.com/video/BUPLvDh7gxY/v-deo.html
SPOILER ALERT! about amazing korean movie "Memories of Murder". Final scene (year 2003 at the time when the killer is not still not caught yet). Former detective Park is now a father and a businessman. As he is passing by the crime scene in the morning he decides to pay a visit. He sees a little girl who claims she saw the killer and describes his features. The film ends with Park looking straight into the camera directly into all of us viewers, meaning that the killer was most likely an “ordinary” man like me and you, someone with family, a job, someone that the community would never suspect.
We do NOT find Tim Curry universally attractive, ffs, but he IS a national treasure. Why was that line even written??? Random pseudo trans support??? FFS!
The smile on Burt Renolds face was the best in smoky and the bandit. It was a smirk even.

Me too! My kids get so mad that I stay to the bitter end of every movie.
I really love the scene from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001): ".... You know it, but... a Jay and Silent Bob movie? Feature length? Who'd pay to see that?"

Damn Kurt Rusell, what a good actor. That smile is creepy as hell.

Young Frankenstein man! You forgot Young Frankenstein!
That's Frankenstein!!!!!
Kuffs was missed. Great video though, made a few new GIFS from it
Deadpool broke the fourth wall in the comics too
I love Deadpool comics. I remember one when he is talking to the comic book reader and Cable is like, who the hell are you talking to. Everyone in the comic just thinks he's insane, lol.
7:58 He's looking like Shawn Michaels.
Did you guys notice Deadpool's homage to Ferris Bueller's Day Off?
yes, they made an oblique reference to it and also show the FBDO clip directly afterwards. Clearly, they noticed.
I like the little smirk / wink of jason sudeikis in "we're the millers" during jennifer anistons strip scene :D
one thing that was funny amongst the whole movie when he makes comments on the mansion and no one being there except two people and in the other he's referring to the empty house inside and all the people, are in one room closing the door good stuff epic
Sugar. Just plain sugar! I love it!
Love how you used clips NOT from holy grail to demonstrate how the holy grail broke the fourth wall.
There's Fourth Wall Breaks all the way through The Big Short. Though Margot Robbie's scene is still extremely memorable
Definitely some nipplage shown by Buster Keaton's wife there!
The Hermoine one doesn't count. She's clearly not looking at the camera or at the audience.
Not even a single mention of the "Road to" series of movies? shame.
I miss Bluto 😢 - John Belushi
They saved the best for last . . .
No, I find Timmy Curry better not in drag, thank you very much.
Silent Bob speaks to the audience in the end of Dogma, as I can recall
In Dr Strange 2 Wanda’s character played by Elizabeth Olsen breaks the 4th wall.
That...that was a very creepy scene, i always thought it was some sort of sam raimi element from his horror roots, that movie did have a lot of creepy/scary moments for a marvel movie
Not a movie but a really great example off this is is the TV show hustle there constantly breaking the 4th wall
"I always drink my coffee while watching radar. you know that!"
7:32 Nope.
Not even a little.
Ferris broke the 4th wall many times in the movie!!!
Robin Hood: King of Thiefs: at the end
5:30 just gotta say deadpool from the beginning has always done this :) for those who didnt know
In Killertomatoes 2, they run out of money to continue shooting the film and while discussing solutions, George Clooney suggests product placements, which they do extensively for the next 5 minutes or so.
It's not always a fourth wall break just because the actor looks at the camera.
Elizabeth Taylor in "Taming of the Shrew" does a monologue. During the monologue, she winks at the camera.
You missed off "What a pisser" from Airplane.
No Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back? Surprising.
another Kurt Russell 4th wall break in the very end scene of Escape From L.A.
“Everybody got that?”
- dark helmet
Any video that starts off with Ryan gets a thumbs up!!!
It's almost as if Ryan Reynolds got to write his own lines -the narrator, apparently
ODD But still very funny Thank You ;
Sadly, you forget the advertisings in The Truman Show, which talks both for imaginary public of The Truman Show and for real audience of the movie !!!
😊😊😊
Ik fleabag isn't a movie but it revolves around this stuff too
You should have ended with Ferris "Go home." End
The Chaplain example is less s fourth wall break than an exampke of movie within a movie.
You missed George Lazenby line on "Her Majesty Secret Service"
It's criminal that this list did not mention the last scene of the movie Wanted (2008). SPOILER...
he talks about how he took control of his life. From his boss, his job, his coworkers, his girlfriend, etc etc. Then looks in the camera and says "what the f*ck have you done lately..?"
I only noticed hermione was saying that to the viewers now u mentioned it

MONTY PYTHON!
You forgot the Muppet Movie.
Sooo meta bro.
What about "Breaking the Waves"❓❗
6:35 💀💀 bro what? breaking the fourth wall is a typical behaviour for them?
I can't believe you didn't choose the best fourth wall-breaking: when Harold (Harold & Maude) looks at us, the public, with the knowing smile of a kid who's just done something very bad. ua-cam.com/video/fa_H2zd8Ybs/v-deo.html
There's several 4th wall breaks in Ferris Bueller's Day Off... Seriously disappointed that you only mentioned the ending....
In Luis Buñuel "Los Olvidados" (The Forgotten Ones) is a scene where main character Pedro don't want to be looked at, so he throws an egg at the camera. 😁 ua-cam.com/video/BUPLvDh7gxY/v-deo.html

Some of it is normal for written literature - guess what it is?
Austin Powers also
No Goodfellas ?😮😮
Where is Airplane?? Sorry to be a d... but your video is not complete without it 😬
We do NOT find Tim Curry universally attractive, ffs, but he IS a national treasure. Why was that line even written??? Random pseudo trans support??? FFS!
Yawn.
another terrible list of "movies i watched"
The Harry Potter one wasn't a 4th wall!
