  • I made a few of these platforms and they have worked great. Super easy and cheap. Please give me a sub and I'll sub back if you have a channel. Be safe and good luck out there.

    Thanks for sharing your information and the details to construct a simple platform which looks very easy to construct.

    I love your idea, but the strength of the roof jacks comes when they are in tension, not in compression. I would pot the front two bolts in the opposite way and strap the hooks above the platform.

    Thats a great idea. I plan on building one after work. Can you make a video mounting it to a tree and standing on it?

      I made one so far I really like it. I’m just trying to figure out how to keep it from squeaking so much. Do you have that problem?

    • @hufius
      @hufius  3 роки тому +2

      I don’t have any issue with squeaking - shoot me a dm on Facebook with a little video of the squeaking - jonas knigge Laursen is my name, think I’m the only one with that name out there! Sorry about not posting video with how I attach it, just insanely busy with work! I basically just use a heavy duty strap and wrap it twice and tighten it up.

    • @hufius
      @hufius  3 роки тому +1

      Patrick PK Hi! First of all, thanks for watching the video. I just use a 1200lbs ratchet strap, and strap it around as high up on the metal pieces as possible, and then just tighten it down as much as possible. Never had an issue with it not being stable enough. I did find that the wider the strap the better it works. Hope that makes sense, else let me know and we can always connect over messenger and I can send some pictures 🤙

    what holds this in place? Can you upload a video of it being in tree? Thanks

    • @hufius
      @hufius  10 місяців тому

      I use a 600lbs ratchet strap. I leave these in the trees on a private area I hunt sometimes. Change the straps each year.
      I’ve since added skateboard grip to the tops. For better grip.
      For my “traveling set up” I use a purchased platform

      Hey thanks for the follow up. What keeps this from slipping? I have a bunch of roof jacks that I would like to make something like this. I like the idea, I just don't understand what keeps it stationary. Thanks man!!@@hufius

    • @hufius
      @hufius  9 місяців тому +1

      @@travisschreiber2186 do you mean from sliding down the tree?
      I run the strap through the top area (just below the wood) and just strap it in hard.
      I do run a fairly wide strap, I think it’s 2.5 inches wide.

    How do you attach to tree?

    • @hufius
      @hufius  2 роки тому

      I use a ratchet strap, with a wide strap. And double wrap it as high as up on the “platform as I can. Wrapping between the 45* and the 90* part.
      Does that make sense at all?

  • @gavinl1414

    How much does it weigh?

    • @hufius
      @hufius  3 роки тому +1

      Gavin L good question. I’m away for work for the next few days. I’ll put it on a scale when I get home. I modified one of them, by cutting the metal brackets a little shorter and therefor a lot less wood, that one is much lighter, I cut about 4-5inches off the long part.
      Definitely not as light as my OOAL platform - but much cheaper 😉 And not too heavy to carry around at all.
      But I promise to get back to you with a weight when I can
