Fun Fact, Judi Dench & Geoffrey Palmer spent about 10 seasons playing a couple in a British Comedy "As Time Goes By" in 1997 it was at the height of its popularity so to see them as "M" and the Admiral was surreal.
Money-Penny: You always were a “Cunning linguist” James…..and it went right over both of their heads. Lol. I love their naivety. 😂. They are both adorable.
Not everyone is smart of picks up on things. Not catching a joke doesn't mean someone is adorable. Does that mean everyone who doesn't catch onto a "ligma" joke is adorable? If that's the case, ligma balls
@@runtwer5700they're attractive. By default everything they do is adorable and quirky 😂 this channel would be way less popular if the reactions came from 2 250 lbs land whales sisters.
I totally agree. I mean, I appreciate absolutely all of the James Bond movies, and Pierce Brosnan was the one I first got into the most, before of course then transitioning over to Daniel Craig‘s movies, but considering how long it has been now, and the level of realism portrayed in the modern James Bond and how his story ends, I think Daniel Craig is now indeed my favourite James Bond.
This is probably one of the most rewatchable Bond films. Lots of great action, brilliant music by David Arnold, great campy villain and a story that was pretty ahead of it's time as a lot of that stuff does happen nowadays. It’s a shame you probably won't react to The World Is Not Enough because that film is SOOOOOO UNDERRATED imo. The villain in that you would absolutely love.
@koll Oh really? Great! No rush, no rush. Blind Wave tend to take their time with the things they react to. I mean they recently reacted to one of the DC Animated Movies for the first time in a while.
Sadly, Desmond Llewelyn, who plays Q, is nearing the end of his time in the role at this point. He did one more Bond film. Pierce Brosnan’s 3rd entry, The World Is Not Enough. He died shortly after that film was completed. He was without a doubt the best Q by far and had one hell of a run. Amazing actor.
@@RayHardman7567 I just said the next film, The World is Not Enough, was his last one because he DIED. He was NOT in Brosnan’s last film, Die Another Day. John Cleese played Q in that one
@@RayHardman7567I think you may have confused the issue with John being in a Bind film with Desmond. A fairly lazy hand over. I can only remember John being in one, but he might have been in two. They eventually obviously totally wiped the slate with Daniel. Similar with Moneypenny. They obviously did a much better job with M...who turns into a much bigger and better character.
Wai Lin is one of the best Bond Girls in the entire series. She almost had her own spin-off show but it never went into fruition. She’s one of the few that can go toe to toe with him.
The greatest thing about watching you two Bright Angels is lines like "She Needs A Ponytail." Not a single guy on the planet would have thought about that. Y'all make us smile like Sunflowers on a clear blue day. And that makes us enjoy your reactions even more. Thank you for all the hard work and for bringing joy and laughter into this sometimes troublesome world.
It's probably the most underrated Bond movie in the entire franchise, in my opinion. It's a terrific film with a terrific premise which is very relevant and only became more so in recent years when mogals like carver really showed how desperate they are to control all narratives. One of my favourites.
Tim Austin It may be one of the best opening scenes that's for sure. I remember walking from high school with friends to see this movie, my parents drove by me and gave me $10. I can picture sitting there and the part where the missiles fire and they see there's nukes there. the idea that you gotta go in and take the nukes out is just, nuanced. that was really cool. that he can fly a plane as good as a combat pilot is silly but the rest is A+++. this is just a really cool idea for a start to bond.
You’re right, and somehow I always forget it exists. I don’t known why, my brain refuses to commit it to memory, no matter how many times I see reactions to it.
I would have expected The World is Not Enough to have been the second pick for Pierce Brosnan’s era of Bond. That said, Tomorrow Never Dies is a great deal of fun, and I'm sure you ladies will like it a lot. A big highlight of the film is Michelle Yeoh as Wai Lin who’s one of the most impressive Bond Girls of the franchise.
I think the biggest plusses in this movies favour were a "Bond girl" that could more than hold her own and a villian that was just so slimy that you really cheered when he bought it.
I will be in bed...with no popcorn before this begins. Pierce Brosnan was our James Bond growing up, GoldenEye and the game was everything. We were so reluctant about Daniel Craig being next in line, but Casino Royale was a gamble, that paid off in every way. This film is great. We were shaken, not stirred about it.
Brosnan is the best for me. Especially Goldeneye and Tomorrow never dies. He has the perfect mix of all the best elements of the previous Bonds. I’ve never liked Craig as Bond in any of his movies. Casino Royal was a great film though. Quantum was decent, but nothing special. His other Bond movies have been boring trash to me though.
I refused to ever watch Daniel Craig like everyone else I was angry and thought he would be rubbish Like everyone else I was proved SO SO SO wrong he is the best Bond Ever and I grew up with Moore Pierce Brosnan asked or demanded for double or triple pay otherwise he walked and they just said ok bye
In the same year of 1997, another Pierce Brosnan movie hit the theaters. It's called Dante's Peak. Disaster movie genre, one of the best ones I've ever watched (yes, there's others more recent ones that are really good, but keep in mind this was the 90s and I believe it was superb for that time). It didn't do so well at the box office, but it's probably one of the hidden gems of Pierce Brosnan's career. Alongside him in the movie, you will most likely recognize Linda Hamilton (Terminator, Terminator 2). I wholeheartedly recommend you watch it, ladies. You won't be sorry.
Dante’s Peak is without a doubt one of the best disaster films ever made. Unlike the CG-messes of today it was all legit beautifully crafted practical set pieces that are pretty breathtaking to watch. It’s a criminally underrated gem that is definitely a master class on big budget special effects.
This is my favorite Bond movie as well. Pierce Brosnan is my favorite Bond hands down. He's the most classy, stylish, and realistic Bond of them all. You should watch the movie 'Thomas Crown Affair' (1999) as well. It's basically a James Bond movie in disguise. Just change the name Thomas Crown to James Bond....you won't even tell the difference.
I can see the comparison...if James Bond was an art thief and never used a gadget. "Thomas Crown Affair" was a remake of an earlier version from 1968, starring Steve McQueen, the King of Cool, and Faye Dunaway.
Michelle Yeoh is a legitimate badass - Jackie Chan himself (a stone-cold legend) once said that she was one of the few people he had trouble keeping up with. If you've ever seen any of his Chinese-era movies, like Armour Of God or Supercop 2 (featuring Michelle) then you know what a compliment that is. She is extensively trained in martial arts and dance, and is willing to do stunts that make me sweat just thinking about - look up the motorbike-to-train jump she did for evidence.
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is a must-watch for Cassie! The people with access to the polls must make it happen! Also because it will introduce her to 2 more legends of Eastern Cinema: Zhang Ziyi and Chow Yun-fat!

Those are Michelle top best films, the Hong Kong's martial arts ones.
I recently watched Die Another Day again, wanting to like it and overlook all the obvious flaws, but it didn’t work - that movie is a turd, can’t be helped.
Definitely my favourite Brosnan Bond and top tier overall Bond for me. A lot of that is due to the awesome Michelle Yeoh (already a big action star in Asia) but also some top notch action, brisk pace, a gorgeous David Arnold score and the sleek look to the whole production.
This is definitely my favorite Bond film due to the combination of Michelle Yeoh's badassery, David Arnold's (composer for Independence Day) excellent score, the villain's insane plan that became even more relevant over time, the remote-controlled car, the handcuffed motorcycle chase, etc... It just flows for me from beginning to end. If you didn't listen to the KD Lang song at the end credits, please do so b/c that's originally supposed to be the theme for the movie before the studio opted for a more popular artist. Michelle also stars in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (2000), so be sure to react to it sometime.
Really you have to wonder how many events are staged for the media to exploit? The more I look into George Floyd, that whole thing seems to have been a carefully staged psyop. It's very disturbing
"Tomorrow Never Dies" became my favorite Bond film of all time, as Brosnan had the confidence and swagger that I didn't realize was missing from "Goldeneye." I was so stoked for this one because I had the soundtrack from David Arnold 2 weeks ahead of release, and was excited for the music to return to John Barry's form. Brosnan just delivered a brilliant and flawless performance which cemented him as my favorite Bond of all time.
Michelle Yeoh is a martial arts movie legend! She is credited with opening up the Hollywood mainstream for female actors as action stars! Legend in her own lifetime! ❤
Fun fact: the Scottish guy on the HMS Devonshire (the boat that sinks right after the opening credits) ("We're down 14 degrees by the stern!") is Gerard Butler. And one of the crewmen on the HMS Bedford at the end of the film is Hugh Bonneville, who plays the patriarch on "Downton Abbey". Speaking of which, the Minister of Defence is played by Julian Fellowes, who created and wrote "Downton Abbey".
Really glad you liked this one. I wouldn't go so far as to say its better than Goldeneye, but it's definitely criminally underrated. Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies were easily Brosnan's best Bond films.
My major problem with golden eye is you get q introducing that really cool new BMW z3 with all the gadgets and they never use it. This one has a great car scene
@@ingibingi2000 Well, you have a car chase with a tank though. But yeah the Z3 Was underused and it looks great, while the BMW in Tomorrow never dies looks Kind of boring.
I was lucky enough to watch this in the theaters back in 1997. It's my second favorite Brosnan Bond after GoldenEye, with The World Is Not Enough at a close third. It encapsulates everything about late 90s action movies: elaborate action set pieces with practical effects, and a relatively lighthearted plot with a _wonderfully_ hammy villain. Speaking of the latter, it's interesting how much more relevant the villain has gotten in the last decade or so. The movie also captured the zeitgeist of mainstream American culture at the time. With the Soviet Union gone and the Gulf War over, there was a sense of stability and optimism of the future; the use of "modern" things like GPS, high res live video feeds, etc. showed off the advancements of technology as the century came to a close. Bond even gets to drive around a remote control car, making him seem like a kid having fun with a toy. China is still seen as aloof, but also a potential ally. And yet despite all of this, the movie reassures its older audiences that sometimes the "old fashioned ways" are still relevant with the use of the British battleship at the end. Some other fun facts: When Bond and Wai Lin were escaping on the bike, them arguing over the controls wasn't an act; the director told them both separately that they'd be the ones driving. When Bond crashes the car in the rental place, onlookers rushed in because they thought it was a real accident. Also, there were quite a few deleted scenes; my favorite was Gupta using throwing cards as weapons. This is a skill that actor Ricky Jay had in real life. If you look at the background of the Q scene, there's a live jaguar in a cage, which was supposed to be for another funny scene that got cut. The guy on the stealth boat who was supposed to be watching the cameras was originally killed for his lack of attention, but that was cut as well. There were also lots of issues with the production, such as it getting a release date with pre-production finished, constant rewrites up until the last minute, problems amongst the actors and director, etc. There's plenty more, but I'm sure others will talk about it. Glad you enjoyed the movie!
38:32 That's a funny reference, especially since the commander of the destroyer shooting at the stealth ship is Michael Byrne who played the SS-Standartenführer Vogel from Indiana Jones 3 (the mean SS colonel that gets punched out of the Zeppelin in the "No ticket!" scene, and the same officer who is in the tank in the end, "Wooooo iiiiist Jooooooooooooones?", "Den Kübelwagen absprengen!")
While I personally like Goldeneye far more, that’s the great thing about Bond movies: there is something for everyone, and everyone can have their own personal favorites, and it’s TOTALLY awesome to have different favorites, for different reasons. I’m glad you didn’t shy away from having your own opinion (which could also change never in the future!) 😊
Michelle has come a long way from Miss Malaysia, soon afterwards she started making movies...along the way she trained in various martial arts...80% of her movies were made in Hong Kong...one of her earliest films was about the nun who invented Wing Chun ( character and movie title of the same name)... you might enjoy it as well...💯💯🇨🇦
Wing Chun is a great film, but I think it´s more for hardcore Hong Kong movie fans. I would recommend Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Police Story 3. Wing Chun maybe later.
@@MarkCucchiara Well, she trained the martial arts in order to perform in front of the camera, usually with Hong Kong stuntmen who helped her to prepare for different movies. But because she was trained as a ballerina, it gave her flexibility and strength so she could pick up the martial moves quickly. She didn´t use her dancing skills to choreograph the fights. That would look funny. But her dancing skills helped her to learn the fight choreography quicker and easier.
@@BackLooking there is a big difference in being trained in the martial arts and being taught martial arts moves to choreograph a movie fight scene. It is not the same thing.
Glad you liked Tomorrow Never Dies. Most fans have a mixed to negative attitude towards this movie. I personally really like it. Great action and a plot that is very relatable especially in todays world. So fun fact, this movie hit theaters the same week in 1997 as Titanic did. I can only imagine when couples went on dates the guys wanted to see James Bond while the gals wanted to see Titanic.
The admiral was played by Geoffrey Palmer, who co-starred with Judi Dench in a British comedy called As Time Goes By. It's about first loves reuniting after so many years and rekindling things.
27:10 The "Empire Will Strike Back" headline that Carver brainstorms in Saigon is not (directly) a Star Wars reference, but to a headline from the April 19th, 1982 issue of Newsweek Magazine, referring to the Falklands War and mobilization of the British Royal Navy.
There will be a lot of people that are mad. I'm not one of them. This is the Bond film that turned me into a lifelong fan. And David Arnold's music is just absolute perfection.
TND is a personal fave of mine. It's funny how it was lambasted in its initial release as being outlandish but its practically the most prescient Bond film in the entire series with Carver just basically being Rupert Murdoch. Overall a great film that im glad its finally being recognized.
Oh yes, 100%. If anything, it’s probably one of the most realistic films of the James Bond era pre-2000 to ever be created from our perspective in the 21st-century.
I got a soft spot for TND, as it's the first Bond movie I saw in theaters and it's also the movie that introduced me to Michelle Yeoh who's a top 3 Bond girl for me. I wonder if she'll react to Supercop with her and Jackie Chan.
In the SCUBA scene, one of the things I really like is that they react 100% as you should when they take their regulators (the mouthpieces) out. The key to SCUBA is to never hold your breath. The reason being- as you ascend, the pressure on your lungs from the water drops, and so the air expands. If you hold your breath, your lungs can pop. So, exhaling throughout that scene is totally the right move. It's a wierd feeling too because as you ascend you keep getting more and more air to exhale as it increases in volume. The downside is that they come up so fast from what looks like a pretty great depth that they probably would have had some form of decompression sickness (the bends) due to the nitrogen bubbling in their blood. The only way around this is to ascend slowly, so that the pressure doesn't drop faster than you can exhale the excess nitrogen.
I mean, you're not wrong, but the fact it was experienced divers doing the stunt work then *of course* they were exhaling as they came up. It's 100% realistic because it was real.
@@adaddinsane most films are shot in pools where it is shallow enough that it makes no difference, so they don't do it or even need to know how to do it. Here, they spent the extra effort to portray it correctly
FUN FACT: Judi Dench and the late Geoffrey Palmer who plays the admiral in this film had worked together before. They were both in a romantic sitcom called "As Time Goes By" which lasted for 10 years. It's a great show, I think you would like it.
Some fun tidbits: * Originally, Anthony Hopkins was slated as Carver, but he walked out because ther was no complete script and he got his pages delivered every morning after they were finalized. * They had to call Jackie Chan(s manager) to hire his stunt team because their stunt guys noped out of the scenes with Michelle Yeoh because she never pulled her punches. * The struggle who got to drive the motorbike was real. The directors told each of the actors in confidence that they are supposed to drive while the other rides along.
A very underrated James Bond film, with a great and unfortunately relevant villain! Glad you loved it and the music! Also, I love Michelle Yeoh. Her character in this movie was so good and actually popular that MGM wanted to make a spinoff series with her, but they couldn't get the money together.
It is rare the case of this movie, because I do not understand why many people do not like it, I see it very entertaining, fast, very dynamic, never boring, the soundtrack is very good, very well filmed, good action scenes, a very rounded movie. Something that doesn't happen to me with Goldeneye, most of them love it, I see it a bit cold, slow, it's hard to follow it, it's good yes, but next to Tomorrow Never Die, it drops a couple of points in entertainment for me, that's why I agree with the girls, I like this movie more than Goldeneye.
The BMW 750Li scene is too unrealistic and exaggerated, especially when the car flies and lands into the car rental office. Bond was controlling it from a floor below. How could he know the right car trajectory? Even with BMW front camera, the building brick wall blocks the view.
That is my favorite Brosnan Bond - Love the Scene when he lies in the Backseat of his BMW and driving remote like a kid 😂😂. Absolute Great and also the stunning "White Knight Intro" !
Fun fact: the guy who played the American hacker was Ricky Jay, probably the best close-up magician to ever live. He's also in The Spanish Prisoner, a really great mystery film with an against-type Steve Martin.
I agree that I like this one better than Goldeneye, but, full disclosure, Michelle Yeoh is my total celebrity crush. Have seen sooooo many of hrr films. Fun Fact~She does her own stunts in this AND having worked with Jackie Chan, he never let any star do their own fight choreography or stunt work, in his films. Michelle Yeoh is the ONE Exception. She is a Master Martial Artist, and stunt woman. I'M IN LOVE. YOU MUST DO MORE MICHELLE YEOH ! ! ! ! !
this movie felt like a totally different tone from goldeneye and made it feel like a big improvement, and "Die Another Day" with Halle Berry (another great watch) was just as great as the this and goldeneye. "The World is Not Enough" is also amazing. its been said that out of a series of films, or games, or books. there is always one that stands out. this one was that for me. felt different, but pushed Pierce Brosnan as bond to another level.
Have to disagree on Die Another Day. Yeoh had the cred of co-starring with Jackie Chan in Supercop going into this movie so she gave off legit bad ass vibes. Die Another Day puts so much focus on trying to create those vibes with Halle Berry and it doesn't work because Halle Berry never had any track record of playing bad ass before and comes off as being nowhere near Yeoh's level in the bad ass department. It feels like the movie is trying to shove the "she's a bad ass" message down the audiences throats whereas in this movie Yeoh is so authentic that nothing has to be shoved down the audiences throats. (and we haven't even discussed the nauseating, too much over the top even for a James Bond film, level of CGI or the lousy Madonna song and cameo in Die Another Day)
While this one certainly isn't my favorite of the Brosnan era(I prefer "Goldeneye" and "The World is not Enough"), I can't deny that the Elliot Carver villain is even more relevant today, and it is worth noting that Michelle Yeoh is definitely one of the all time best Bond girls. It's a lot of fun watching this again with the recent resurgence of her career. I totally get why is resonated so much with you ladies.
I remember watching this movie in the theater with my brother on Christmas Day 1997. It is one of my favorite Bond films along with Casino Royale and On Her Majesties Secret Service.
9:58 Michael G. Wilson cameo as the news reporter (lower right corner at time stamp). One of his few with dialogue ("Consider him slimed"). I host a Bond marathon every July 4th weekend in my home cinema & put together trivia slides for between movies (just like at the real movie theater). This year is going to be all Connery and Brosnan: You Only Live Twice, GoldenEye, The World is Not Enough, and either Thunderball or From Russia With Love.
Im sorry, but Roger Moore was the worst Bond. Such a bad casting choice, which pains me because, I love Roger Moore. He perfect as "The Saint", and has so many fine films, but drove the Bond franchise, into the ground, which is why the franchise was waning under his watch and, almost killed it. It was 12 years before the franchise began again with Brosnan. Moore was a very fine actor, but not for Bond.
@@avantegarde7797 sorry but I'm not that judgemental, I liked Roger Moore and all the other Bonds. They all bring something different to the table. But my comment was not directed towards a particular Bond but about the movie itself and where it took me.
It's definitely overhated as Bond films go, say what you want about it and how ridiculously silly it is, you can't deny that it's an immensely fun film once you choose to embrace the absurdity (plus, it has a really enjoyably sarcastic villain, and one of John Barry's best scores for the series)
There's a legend that when William Randolph Hurst was told by illustrator Frederick Remington that there would be no war in Cuba, Hurst told him "You furnish the pictures and I'll furnish the war".
I know we are in the minority. This is my favorite of the Brosnan Bond films too. I was so excited when it won 2nd place on your poll. This is the film that introduced me to Michelle Yeoh, and got me into her martial arts films.
In 1997 I was in the US Navy. I remember seeing Tomorrow Never Dies and thinking "They couldn't get any US Navy ships like that." The reason is that the US Navy doesn't use GPS, and still doesn't.
I'm glad you have a new favourite. Can't blame you for liking it more than GoldenEye either (which I think is more fun for people who've seen fewer Bond movies and know the tropes less). This movie is definitely more relevant nowadays, as Cassie pointed out, because "fake news" is talked about a lot more and people seem more aware of different news organizations pushing their own agendas.
The Amazing Michelle Yeoh started her action movie career in Yes Madam! (Aka Police Assassins, 1985), with the equally badass Cynthia Rothrock. The final fight scene in this movie is still yaw dropping. She did her own Chinese take on Indiana Jones in Magnificent Warriors (1987) and starred with Jackie Chan in Police Story 3: Super Cop (1992). The Chinese fantasy (Wuxia) movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) won 4 Oscars. In the true Hong Kong tradition she does almost all of her own stunts.
The Bond one liners in this movie is really good I really hope you are gonna do all the Bond movies at some point. Also fun fact Michelle Yeoh have no formal martial arts training, but she used her background in dancing to do her own stunts. also the Gun that James pick out (and comments on) with Way-Lin replaces the classic walter PPK for the Bond gun in future Brosnan movies and some of the Craig movies.
One of my favorite bond movies and intro songs. Sheryl Crowe killed it. Also, Elliot Carver is probably the most believable villain. “Give the people what they want!”
Jonathan Pryce as Elliot Carver is Tier 1 Bond villian. One of my favorite Bond movies! I've recently found your channel and just been binging your movie sessions and love your reactions! Keep it up!
This film was released the exact same day as Titanic in the United States and Canada. As such, due to Titanic going on to become one of the biggest films of all-time, this film didn't do quite as well at the box-office as it probably would've otherwise, but it has managed to grow in public esteem in more recent years thanks to the scary parallels of "fake news" that's taken place as well as Michelle Yeoh's career resurgence recently. Underrated Bond film, for sure.
You mentioned people's disrust of the media now that was shown in this 90's movie. It's been around for a while as shown by the 1976 movie "Network". It's quite the interesting watch with a stellar performance from Ned Beaty.
I have a love for all the Bonds. But for sure Pierce Brosnan is my favorite James Bond. In all honesty it does just come down to the nostalgia. I remember watching these and playing the different games (Golden Eye, Nightfire, etc.) Feels good looking back!
Flower Blisters! 72 flowers, that's some hardcore industrious planting! Reminds me of the Land Girls tilling the fields and growing the food that kept Britain fed during World War 2! Respect! I was knackered after two hours tidying up my flat today! 😂👏👍🙏
I was very surprised that this one won 2nd place, maybe it's not as underrated as everyone thinks. It's my favorite of all of them and I'm glad you both liked it too. I know you're only doing 2 per actor, but if you feel like breaking that rule the next one with Brosnan is pretty great too. Probably the best 3 movie arc in the whole series.
Fun Fact: When Q introduced Bond his new BMW 750, there's another opened cargo box which has a live jaguar inside. That was from a deleted scene where Q opened the wrong box that has the big cat. Bond asked, "Jaguar?" with Q replying, "Wrong assignment." Director Roger Spottiswoode stated in the introduction for said scene that it was removed for being a hair too long.
Tomorrow Never Dies is definitely my favorite Pierce Brosnon Bond movie, and one of my favorites overall. This unfortunately came out the same weekend as Titanic, but it still did well considering.
3:20 I see Colin Salmon, the actor who was Helen Mirran’s lover in “Prime Suspect” - another 90s blockbuster PBS TV show from Britain - the other was “As Time Goes By.”
I don't know if anyone's already answered but, yes, that works. Just like in CPR! Air is usually about 21% oxygen. When it's inhaled, we use some of that, as you know, and when we EXhale, it's still around 17% oxygen. There's plenty left for CPR patients, or underwater spies. Great show tonight!
Respectfully, there is no way underwater CPR would work and is completely implausible in general. Remember, the inordinate amount of sea water being ingested the entire time would outweigh the benefits of any oxygen. Plus, in the fashion presented, James did not seal her nose while basically just kissing her. And the moment he broke away, both of them would have an almost involuntary urge to gasp in air, thus swallowing even more sea water in the process. The bottom line, everything in every James Bond film is built on suspension of disbelief. Including underwater mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
@@williamrandolph1566 fair points all! Perhaps agent Wai Lin’s extraordinary physical fitness meant she was holding her breath all along, and had yet to inhale seawater. Commander Bond has had years of experience in underwater operations and combat. Surely, he’s cross-trained with the Royal Commandos and learned some advanced underwater oxygen-sharing technique 😁
@@williamrandolph1566 Of course!!! Most of all though, the conversation is great fuel for the algorithm promoting Cassie's video!! Have a great weekend!
@@TeflonDave Also true....and I am more than happy to fuel that algorithm. Cassie's channel is amazing!!!! I love the pure wholesemomeness of the entire experience. Both sisters are such sweethearts in their own ways.
This is my favorite bind movie love the plot the action and the villain he was appropriately eccentric and his plan and the plot has aged alot better then most bond films
For Your Eyes Only is my favorite Bond, but Tomorrow Never Dies is my favorite Pierce Brosnan Bond. Anyone who likes the movies can have several favorites.
I remember reading a book on Bond films around the late 90s. The author of the book thought that this movie, which was the latest one at the time, was one of if not the best of the series. When this came out, it did get mostly positive reviews from all the major critics, as did Goldeneye. I always this this a "by the numbers" Bond film when it came out. Now I realize that it's just a Bond film, and that's more than ok. This movie rocks. I think you ladies would very much enjoy the third film. The fourth one is either torture for Bond fans or a guilty pleasure. For me, it's the latter. Brosnan was so good in the part, all of his films deserve a viewing.
I have to say I prefer the PPK to the P99. I think it was good marketing for Walther but for a spy gun a small gun is just better. Also, they have discontinued the P99 but the PPK is still in production and an excellent gun.
This is my favorite 007 film, this and Golden Eye. Also cool kickass Asian representation. This was one of my family's first DVDs. We picked up, 007: Tomorrow Never Dies and Sesame Street: Elmopalooza on DVD.
This was my favorite Brosnan Bond movie of all the ones he did. He grew on me, when I first saw him do the role. For me he was TV's "Remington Steele" and I felt he would actually make a better replacement for another Roger Moore role, that of Simon Templar "The Saint" but he made Bond his own like all the actors have.
I do cherish the Val Kilmer version of The Saint more now for Nostalgia purposes, but I love Roger more as Simon Templar more than I liked him as Bond.
That last line from M where she says the official story of Carver's death was that he was missing from his yacht, presumed drowned and belived to have committed suicide, was at the time, a VERY clear reference to a real world incident. Just a few years before this movie came out, the infamous media baron Robert Maxwell, "accidentally fell" off his yacht and drowned. He was at the centre of numerous scadals, including large scale fraud and embezzlement...as well as a quite shady past...so when he "accidentally drowned"...many people were suspicious that he was actually assassinated. Incidentally, while many people today might now be familiar with Robert Maxwell, you are likely to be familiar with his daughter, Ghislaine...yeah...that one 😒
This movie was very clearly Predictive Programming: The media lying to start wars, assassinations made to look like suicides, there's even a line where Carver says "A New World Order will rise!" Pretty blatant agendas out in the open.
39:18 that drill was every bit as dangerous in real life as it looked. They wanted to have a sheet of plexiglass between it and the actors for safety while filming this scene, but it was too visible on camera, so Jonathan Pryce just said he trusted Pierce Brosnan to pull him out of the way in time if it got too close.
It's not just recency bias. Pretty much all newer films have tremendously bigger budgets, which enables better scripts, FX, sets, locations, stunts, and so on. By now your Bond watching is in the era of the "Mission: Impossible" franchise. I said it before, but I think you guys could comfortably watch all of the rest of the Brosnan Bond, right into the Craig Bond.
Your husband is wrong 😉. He is the quintessential Bond. He has the suaveness and swagger of Connery, the humour of Moore. His onscreen chemistry with moneypenny rivals Connery and Maxwell and his onscreen chemistry with M and Q surpasses everyone that has come before or after. He also looks great. God only knows what they were thinking giving Daniel Craig a crew cut with his sticky-out ears 😂
I disagree with your husband and that I think Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan are the archetypes of what a James Bond should be. They are both my top two and I disregard the rest, to be honest.
Take "Die Another Day", if, for no other reason than just the sword fight, which SUPERB. Skip the third film. Denise Richards ? Seriously, is anyone buying her as a world-class scientist ? (Really ?)
@@avantegarde7797 Denise Richards is not a very good Bond girl, but the rest of the movie is great. One of the biggest plot twists in the entire franchise.
Both Tomorrow Never Dies and Goldeneye are my favourite Pierce Brosnan Bond movies. I hope you'll get to watch more Sean Connery and Roger Moore movies, especially Moonraker.
Regarding the BMW, I loved that car so much as a child (I was 11) I demanded my dad to get his grey sedan Beemer. And whenever I’d sit I’d play the bond theme in my head. He still has the same car at 83 years old.
@@davidbeyerle6996 Hey she's not that bad. Though it surprised me when she was cast as her performance definitely wasn't that of a seasoned veteran, but I still thoroughly enjoy that movie.
24:00-24:03 fun fact: the Master Sergeant giving James the explanation of Halo jump and Bond’s parachute saying the line “this snaps you head back like a cantaloupe”… that’s the late Al Mathews( Gunnery Sergeant Apone from Ailens -1986)
One of my favorite Bonds. Pierce Brosnan, the action, the plot, the gadgets, the women! It doesn’t hurt that I had a BMW the same color as the 750i in the movie!
Fun Fact, Judi Dench & Geoffrey Palmer spent about 10 seasons playing a couple in a British Comedy "As Time Goes By" in 1997 it was at the height of its popularity so to see them as "M" and the Admiral was surreal.
Another fact Gerard Butler (300) appears as a sailor on the Devonshire in this movie
I think there was another movie where she played Queen Victoria and he played her doctor- don't know the title
"As Time Goes By" is one of the sweetest romantic TV shows of all time. I loved seeing the two actors in this.
According to Miss Dench, Geoffrey Palmer was her second favorite leading man, her late husband was her first.
I remember As Time Goes By. Dench and Palmer are the embodiment of 1990s BBC TV.
Money-Penny: You always were a “Cunning linguist” James…..and it went right over both of their heads. Lol. I love their naivety. 😂. They are both adorable.
This (Samantha Bond) is definitely the best of the Moneypenny's, bar none.
Not everyone is smart of picks up on things. Not catching a joke doesn't mean someone is adorable. Does that mean everyone who doesn't catch onto a "ligma" joke is adorable? If that's the case, ligma balls
Me too
@@runtwer5700they're attractive. By default everything they do is adorable and quirky 😂 this channel would be way less popular if the reactions came from 2 250 lbs land whales sisters.

What's great about the Bond series is that everyone has their favorite bond and movie. So, dont feel guilty about which is your fav
TRUE WÖRDS!!
I like them all
I'm partial to Sean Connery, so I like From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, and Thunderball . . .

Just saw The World Is Not Enough for the very first time today, I thought it was a step up from Tomorrow Never Dies, a shame they'll be missing it.
@@thatperformer3879 they said they may watch the ones the missed at some point
@koll Oh really? Great! No rush, no rush. Blind Wave tend to take their time with the things they react to. I mean they recently reacted to one of the DC Animated Movies for the first time in a while.
They really screwed up, should have just watched all the Bonds in order. @@thatperformer3879
Yea TWINE was underrated. It had a great storyline and characters. It's just a less climactic ending. Also I love the music from TWINE much more.
And it wasn't natural causes, it was a freaking car accident. Such a shame.
Why does he appear in the other Brosnon bonds, but they changed actors for Craig's bond?
@@RayHardman7567 I just said the next film, The World is Not Enough, was his last one because he DIED. He was NOT in Brosnan’s last film, Die Another Day. John Cleese played Q in that one
@@Blackflame24 yes. I got that. Somehow I was thinking there were more than 4 Brosnon bond films. My bad.
This is an excellent and accurate comment.
I love TND. One of my favorites in the entire franchise.
It actually feels more relevant now than it did then. I still prefer Goldeneye.
Agree. Goldeneye and The World is Not Enough would have been my two picks.
@Kevin McFarlane those actually are my favorites
Yes, me too. I doubt if anyone has opted for Die Another Day though.😀
TWINE is unfortunately bogged down by Denise Richards' character & a disappointing climax.
We were shaken, not stirred about it.
still most favr8 after 20 years...Die Another Day.😄
I saw Goldeneye countless times, but the game was unfortunately banned here in Germany.
Personally I think Pierce was the best in playing James Bond and the producers, directors, writers, etc. knew what to do with this character.
I refused to ever watch Daniel Craig like everyone else I was angry and thought he would be rubbish
Like everyone else I was proved SO SO SO wrong he is the best Bond Ever and I grew up with Moore
Pierce Brosnan asked or demanded for double or triple pay otherwise he walked and they just said ok bye
Some might even say it was... "Peak" Brosnan 😏
I'll see myself out
Both _Dante's Peak_ and _Volcano_ are highly recommended, both were waging a ticket's war in 1997.
Dante's Peak was good but I think Volcano edges it out as the better movie by a hair.
On top of that, "Tomorrow Never Dies" was released in America the very same day as "Titanic".
Jackie only has a cameo in Supercop 2. Perhaps you meant Police Story 3: Supercop.
Love all 4 of Pierce Brosnan's Bond films... so there are no bad choices, and this is a superb film too.😁
same
the last one of his was ass
Same here. I love all of them, but personally Die Another Day is my favourite of the Pierce Brosnan movies.
I loved the Brosnon Bonds, but Die Another Day was probably my least favourite of all the Bonds. Just nonsense from start to finish.
I recently watched Die Another Day again, wanting to like it and overlook all the obvious flaws, but it didn’t work - that movie is a turd, can’t be helped.
Why am I not surprised that Cunning Linguist went over your two heads. You two are too darn wholesome for crude British humour! Haha ❤
Carly smiled at it.
Excellent choice !
@@ingibingi2000 Yeah, that was a disappointment, wasn't it?
Honestly I like The World is Not Enough too, it feels kinda different.
Agree.
@Pheeb Surely you read what he wrote? :)
She did not formally train in the martial arts. She was a dancer (ballerina specifically) and used her dancing skills to choreograph her fight scenes.
The fight scenes with her and Cynthia Rothrock in "Yes, Madam" are top notch.
Tomorrow Never Dies is my mom’s favorite out of the entire series. It’s the one Bond movie she watches the most often.
Michelle Yeoh absolutely *makes* this film! Without her strong character, it's a good action movie, but she brings it to another level entirely. 👍👍
The admiral was played by Geoffrey Palmer, who co-starred with Judi Dench in a British comedy called As Time Goes By. It's about first loves reuniting after so many years and rekindling things.
Love that show. It just oozes comfort & nostalgia..
@@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 It was my Mom's favorite.
Tomorrow Never Dies will always hold a special place in my heart, as it was the first one I went to see in the cinemas.
TND is a personal fave of mine. It's funny how it was lambasted in its initial release as being outlandish but its practically the most prescient Bond film in the entire series with Carver just basically being Rupert Murdoch. Overall a great film that im glad its finally being recognized.
Yep. Literally the most realistic Bond villian.
Watching a physically weak villain meet a grisly end is a highlight of TND.
Being released same weekend as Titanic didn't help matters.
The villain is a little too on the nose. Had to be downplayed
Oh yes, 100%. If anything, it’s probably one of the most realistic films of the James Bond era pre-2000 to ever be created from our perspective in the 21st-century.
I saw this on vacation in Hong Kong, and Bond being confused by the mandarin keyboard got a huge audience laugh.
Some fun tidbits:
* Originally, Anthony Hopkins was slated as Carver, but he walked out because ther was no complete script and he got his pages delivered every morning after they were finalized.
A future Bond entry should have as main villain an Elliott Carver-type media baron, only played straight rather than in a campy way.
Relative how? I don't remember this film.
Edit - Nevermind, just started watching and it's totally relevant, lol.
EVERYBODY loves Michelle Yeoh. I'm glad she's finally getting a lot more recognition.
Great call !! The Spanish Prisoner is a GREAT flick !!! Would love to Cassie cover it.
Also in “The Prestige” and in an episode of the x-files
And in Deadwood.
I agree, that BMW is the ugliest Bond-car ever. The Z3 from Goldeneye was so much better.
That's why he looks so familiar! Thank you so much for pointing that out, it was bugging me.
Love how the villain is based on Murdoch is amazing
I remember watching this in theatres and the audience thoroughly enjoyed it. A very relevant movie that would usher in a new era of villains.
This was a good film. My favorite Brosnan Bond movie is "The world is not enough" The title song from Garbage is awesome and "Q" is a legend 👍😢
Agreed.
this movie felt like a totally different tone from goldeneye and made it feel like a big improvement, and "Die Another Day" with Halle Berry (another great watch) was just as great as the this and goldeneye.
(and we haven't even discussed the nauseating, too much over the top even for a James Bond film, level of CGI or the lousy Madonna song and cameo in Die Another Day)
4:41 I love this line.
"What the hell is he doing?!"
"His job!"
27:47 The perfect line that best describes who James Bond is and why he's loved by millions of people over the world
For the longest time, this was my favorite too.
It definitely has the most real-world believable villain, short of MI6 vs. KGB for its time
I remember watching this movie in the theater with my brother on Christmas Day 1997. It is one of my favorite Bond films along with Casino Royale and On Her Majesties Secret Service.
Cassie, you need to watch Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon staring Michelle Yeoh. She was awesome in that movie.
Absolutely
Totally
9:58 Michael G. Wilson cameo as the news reporter (lower right corner at time stamp). One of his few with dialogue ("Consider him slimed").
I host a Bond marathon every July 4th weekend in my home cinema & put together trivia slides for between movies (just like at the real movie theater). This year is going to be all Connery and Brosnan: You Only Live Twice, GoldenEye, The World is Not Enough, and either Thunderball or From Russia With Love.
Moonraker is still my favorite Bond movie because i love the whole space theme and its concept of starting over the human race was intriguing.
Despite detractors, it is def a top 10 Bond for sure.
Cassie and Carly would love what happens to Jaws in Moonraker.
Keep it up!
That damn High Sparrow Swan always causing trouble.
Media has always been the same.
Also, The World is Not Enough marks Desmond Llewellyn's last performance as Q. I know how much you both like him, and the send-off is touching.
Fun Fact:
When Q introduced Bond his new BMW 750, there's another opened cargo box which has a live jaguar inside. That was from a deleted scene where Q opened the wrong box that has the big cat. Bond asked, "Jaguar?" with Q replying, "Wrong assignment."
Director Roger Spottiswoode stated in the introduction for said scene that it was removed for being a hair too long.
@@TeflonDave lol....I reiterate....suspension of disbelief.
“There’s no news like BAD news”
And just like that the movie secured itself as timeless.
I really like this one. Its nonsense that people don't like it. Especially with how prophetic it was!
Great reaction. ❤
People dont like this movie? Thats fake-news😂
Yea the media making up fake news to control the masses and outcomes of the world. Oddly accurate to real life.
The music by David Arnold was so on point
This is my favorite bind movie love the plot the action and the villain he was appropriately eccentric and his plan and the plot has aged alot better then most bond films
This is one of my favorite soundtracks ever, bought it on CD back in the day when the movie came out.
I know you like Michelle Yeoh in Tomorrow Never Dies but you will love her in “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon”.
13:19 the amount of times you bite your lip watching Pierce Brosnan 😅😂😂
I think this was my first movie with Michelle Yeoh in. She's great in it, and still kicking ass.
I can't even drive my Mario kart straight. 😂😂😂. You girls are the BEST!! Thanks for starting my weekend off with some laughs!
YOU R gonna LOVE "the world is not enough" that maybe is not everyones favorite, but is the best.
"Diamonds are Forever" and "You Only Live Twice" are my favorite Bond Films. Little Nelly is a beast!
YOLT is a top 10, DAF is second to the worst
@@RootinrPootine I guess that depends on wgo you ask. I like DAR for my own reasons and don't gaf what the survey says.
Oh whoa... I did not know that. Yikes.
This movie was very clearly Predictive Programming: The media lying to start wars, assassinations made to look like suicides, there's even a line where Carver says "A New World Order will rise!" Pretty blatant agendas out in the open.
To be fair the phrase Epsteined rolls off the tongue a little easier than Maxwelled anyway.
Ive loved Pierce Brosnan since Redington Steel. My husband says he is not a classic bond but I could watch him do anything. Loved the reactions!!
@@Nimzzeee some of the Daniel Craig movies are good (some are absolutely terrible lol) but he looks like a thug. Or a potato.
@@Diamond_Skies I agree. He is old school yet I read the books. So that is a big point counter point in our home.
The two remaining Pierce Brosnan films are entertaining and worth seeing.
@@avantegarde7797 Renard and Elecktra are some of the best Brosnan Bond villains IMO, I love The World Is Not Enough.
Both Tomorrow Never Dies and Goldeneye are my favourite Pierce Brosnan Bond movies. I hope you'll get to watch more Sean Connery and Roger Moore movies, especially Moonraker.
"I like a movie from 26 years ago" = "recency bias"
Regarding the BMW, I loved that car so much as a child (I was 11) I demanded my dad to get his grey sedan Beemer. And whenever I’d sit I’d play the bond theme in my head. He still has the same car at 83 years old.
I wish you guys had checked out THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH. It's my favorite of Brosnan's four films, and very underrated in general.
Yes it is underrated
Denise Richards awful acting ruined it for me.
"Cant believe anyone would start a war to make money." Uh hum... Every war.
One of my favorite Bonds. Pierce Brosnan, the action, the plot, the gadgets, the women! It doesn’t hurt that I had a BMW the same color as the 750i in the movie!
